    Seems to work

I really hesitated to buy this because of the price and I wasn't sure how it would work but Ulta has such a libral return policy I thought I would try it. I used this when my hair had a lot of gray roots and I should have been using a box color like I usually do so this was a pretty tough test of th...

    Does not work!

Discovered this at Ulta by accident. I was excited about this product. I'm getting tired of root touch ups every 2 weeks. Well it did nothing. I left it on for 40 mins. As I was waiting, it looked like my roots were turning golden brown. I needed darker, but I would have been fine with it. Washed ...

I used this product to refresh my natural red tones in my hair and my poor curls are so damaged and flat I don't even recognize my hair anymore. I'm so disappointed I've spent so long growing my hair out from being bald it's finally long and I wanted to do something nice and now they are flat and lifeless …

    Really Works, Do Strand Test

    Submitted 9 days ago

    By SheShops

    From NJ

I bought this in Golden Blonde after my usual salon highlights and lowlights came out a bit too ashy and grayish. It worked great to add some warmth and golden tones. However I cannot stress enough: Do The Strand Test. 3-20 minutes is a huge window and I had no idea how long to leave it on. My strand test toned very quickly and 3 minutes was perfect to add light gold tones. If I had left it on longer I would have been in big trouble with yellow hair and a huge nightmare on my hands. Don't risk doing your whole head until you know how your hair will tone. The timing sweet spot matters!

I got the Cool Brown to tone down the grown out brass. I was familiar with this product years ago when I had copper red hair. It can be drying with long term use, even though its technically labeled a conditioner. This time I only plan on using it 2x as the first application gave me results very close to what I was wanting. It's a perfect option since I really didn't want to be paying a $300 salon bill.

Ive been using this gloss for a long time now and as much as i love the glosses, the new color i bought ruined my hair color :( i had a mushroom brown and bought the cool medium brown to maintain the color and it totally changed it. It made it a lot darker and richer, which is not was i wss expecting from a COOL colored gloss. Be cautious /:

    Q
Can this be applied to clean dry hair?
    Asked by Jan
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Hi! Gloss+ is usually recommended for clean, damp hair but dry hair is fine too! If you use this technique, please ensure that you're saturating fully as dry spots can occur easier. A wide tooth comb helps with even distribution. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
I have dark brow hair with old light brown highlights that turn brassy. Just want to tone down the brassiness . What color should I use? Also after I wash my hair can I condition before applying gloss? My hair gets very tangled after washing ..
    Asked by Roe
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Cool Light Brown Gloss+ is a great choice to help tone down those brassy reflections and keep the highlights looking more neutral. As for conditioning first, you shouldn’t need to. Gloss+ is a deep-conditioning gloss, so it’s formulated to add slip, smoothness, and shine while you tone. Apply it to clean, damp hair and gently work it through, especially where you want to neutralize the brassiness. Rinse, and style as normal. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
So after I wash my hair do I condition with my regular coditioner before applying gloss?
    Asked by Roe
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Gloss+ is a deep conditioning treatment that should add slip and manageability allover, in addition to adding a wash of pigment - no need to pre-condition!Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
How much of the product should be used for very short/pixie hair?
    Asked by Karezz
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Use Gloss+ as you would any normal conditioner - wearing gloves, apply enough that the hair is fully saturated. A bottle of Gloss+ should give short hair several applications. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
Does this product have ingredients that will strip keratin? Ammonia, sodium chloride, sulfate, peroxide?
    Asked by L
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Thanks for asking this important question. Gloss+ does not contain ammonia, peroxide, sulfates, or sodium chloride. Instead, it's a conditioning, direct-deposit color formula that uses conditioning ingredients and direct dyes to refresh or enhance color without oxidative dyes or materials. While every keratin treatment is different and we always recommend following your stylist's or keratin manufacturer's care instructions, there are no ingredients in this formula that are typically associated with stripping a keratin treatment. Q
    Does it cover grey
    Asked by Why me, God?
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Thanks for your question! Every head of gray is different, so results can vary depending on the amount and texture of your gray hair. Gloss+ isn't designed to permanently cover gray, but it can help soften and blend grays while enhancing your overall hair color and adding shine. If you'd like more personalized guidance, we'd be happy to help! Please reach out to dpHUE Customer Support with a current photo of your hair in natural lighting, and our team can recommend the best shade and set expectations for your specific hair. Q
I have hair past my shoulders a little on the thick side do i need more than one bottle?
    Asked by serina
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
With hair that's a little past your shoulders and on the thicker side, the exact number of Gloss+ applications will depend on how much product your hair absorbs and how generously you apply it. Many people with your hair length and density are able to get multiple uses from one bottle, especially if they're just refreshing their color. Gloss+ is made to be applied on damp hair to spread out more evenly. If you have especially thick or very long hair and prefer a more generous application, you may go through the bottle more quickly, but we generally recommend starting with one bottle and seeing how much you use on your first application. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
I've been coloring my hair sort of a strawberry blonde/auburn color, which was my natural hair color, for a long time. I'm tired of coloring and have started to let my natural grey come in but I dont like the texture of my natural hair as mich as the texture of my colored hair. I'm wondering if I tried using the Gloss+ in the sheer color if it might give me a more similar texture to my previously colored hair?
    Asked by LJ
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Gloss+ Sheer is a great choice as a deep conditioning treatment during your gray hair journey. Gloss+ will bring back some of that softness, shine, and manageability you love from your colored hair. If your main goal is a “freshly colored” finish, you may also want to look at Glossy Glaze Sheer. It’s designed specifically to boost shine and leave the hair mirror-like throughout. Whichever you choose, know that your shiniest, healthiest hair is our priority! Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
    Does it cover grey hairs?
    Asked by Ageless beauty
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Gloss+ is a semi permanent conditioning color, so it won't provide full gray coverage. However, depending on your hair and the type of gray you're working with, it can help blend grays and shift their tone for a more natural look. For best results, we recommend staying within 1–2 shades of your natural base color and always performing a strand test before applying Gloss+ allover. This will help determine if you're seeing the intended results! If you're looking for full gray coverage, our Root Touch-Up Kits would be the better option. Thanks for the inquiry! Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
can this product be used on beards?
    Asked by deb
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Thanks for this important question! While Gloss+ isn't specifically formulated for use on facial hair, some customers do choose to use it on their beards for subtle color enhancement and blending. Facial hair can process differently than scalp hair, so we strongly recommend performing a patch test on a small section first to assess both the color result and skin sensitivity before applying it more broadly. Be especially careful to avoid contact with the skin whenever possible. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
How often should you use this?
    Asked by Elizabeth B
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Thanks for your question! We recommend using Gloss+ every 3–8 washes, depending on how vibrant you want to keep your color and how often you wash your hair. Since it’s a semi-permanent color conditioner, regular use helps maintain tone, shine, and richness between salon visits. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
Hello! I have long hair, how many pumps should I use? Is this bottle supposed to last for multiple uses?
    Asked by Leni
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Hair length and texture can definitely impact how much product you use, but with Gloss+ there are multiple uses in bottle and you should be totally fine with just 1 bottle to start! Was this answer helpful to you

    Q
Can I add my own conditioner to the color gloss before applying so I can dilute the color payoff (I dont want a drastic change)
    Asked by Audrey
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Thanks for your question! We don’t recommend mixing conditioner into Color Dream, since the color creme and activator were specifically formulated together as a demi-permanent color to provide a beautiful color result. If you’re looking for a less drastic change, a good option is our Gloss+ semi-permanent color-depositing deep conditioner. There are 13 shades to chose from (1 could be closer to your hair color); leave on 3-20 minutes and fades in up to 8 washes. Was this answer helpful to you

    Q
Does this help with greying roots?
    Asked by Janet
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Thanks for your question! Gloss+ is a semi-permanent color, so it won’t fully cover grays like a permanent hair dye. That said, it can help soften the appearance of grays by adding a light tint that blends them more naturally with your overall color. Results vary from person to person, so we always suggest doing a strand test first to see how it looks on your hair. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
What colors should I use if my is starting to get white!!
    Asked by Hair color
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Thanks for your question! If your hair is just starting to turn white or gray and you’re looking to enhance your overall color and blend the grays, but not quite ready for permanent hair color, then Gloss+ can help by subtly blending those lighter strands with a tint—though it won’t fully cover them like a permanent dye. For a natural look, choose a Gloss+ shade that matches your current base color. If you have dark brown hair, for example, go with Medium Brown or Dark Brown. These shades can gently tint the white hairs for a more blended appearance while keeping your overall tone consistent. Just note that results can vary depending on your hair type and the amount of white or gray—so we always recommend doing a strand test first! Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
I have been using 2 parts light brown to 1 part copper to achieve the natural red brown/Auburn shade that matches my natural. Would the Auburn shade be a good alternative to always having to custom mix? I don't want that burgundy or Crayola red tone, more chestnut brown. Thanks in advance!
    Asked by Mattie
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Gloss+ Auburn could be a great alternative to your current Light Brown + Copper mix. It’s a warm red-brown shade that may give you a similar result without the custom blending. Since you’re looking for a natural, chestnut finish (not burgundy), we recommend doing a strand test first to make sure the tone works for your hair and goal. If it skews too red, you can always adjust with a bit of Light Brown or Sheer. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
I have natural no dye dark brown hair and about 25% grey (my grey is white). I want to freshen and darken my brown hair but not change the white. Can i use the black and follow up with the purple to clear anything that sticks to the white? Will purple leave the black deposit in?
    Asked by Al
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
Thanks for your question. Since your natural color is dark brown, we recommend using Gloss+ in Dark Brown instead of Black, which can appear too harsh and reduce contrast with your white or gray strands. Gloss+ won't fully cover grays but may slightly tint them. If you want to keep your grays bright, avoid applying the product to those areas. If you're mainly looking to refresh your tone and add shine, Gloss+ Sheer is a great option. It won't darken your hair but will enhance overall vibrancy. Purple shampoo is meant for blonde, silver, or gray hair and won’t remove Gloss+ pigment, especially darker shades. A strand test is always a good idea to preview results before applying all over. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
Can you put this product in clean dry hair and then rinse it out?
    Asked by Nicole
Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand Engage
For best results, we recommend applying Gloss+ to clean, damp hair—not dry. Damp hair helps the product spread evenly and absorb more consistently. Applying on dry hair may lead to patchy results or uneven color payoff. So be sure to shampoo first, towel-dry, then apply Gloss+ evenly from roots to ends. Leave on for up to 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and follow with conditioner if needed! Was this answer helpful to you
