Most Helpful Positive Review I use this every day I'm glad I bought this before I read some of the negative reviews. Everyone has such different skin and I may have stayed away from this product once I read those, I'm glad I didn't! For reference: I am 44, acne prone, with dark skin and have eczema -- I'm allergic to a lot of products. I am also using a product for my acne called Tazorac so sunscreen is a necessity. I found this product to rub in well, it feels good, does not irritate, and I didn't feel like I had that white film you often get with sunscreens. I wear under make up and my make up goes on smoothly after. I do wait about 10 min post shower to put the lotion on, and wait until after I do my hair to apply my make up which I think helps with having it absorb and layering under make up. (If I put on the lotion while my skin is damp, it doesn't absorb well, and if I apply my make up immediately after, I do feel like it's a bit too much). I really like using this as it doesn't irritate with my eczema, moisturizes, does not cause break outs, contains the sunscreen I need and looks good under make up.
Most Helpful Critical Review Combination/Acne Prone Skin -okay not great I'll start by saying I really wanted to like this product. As someone with acne prone/combo skin, I'm hesitant to stray from my typical regimen. I use a benzoyl peroxide face wash as well as topical prescriptions (clindamyacin and retinol cream...both drying)to manage my acne per a dermatologist. In the past the best lotion experience I've had is with aveeno positively radiant. It's been getting pricey so figured I'd try something else in the same price range with the hopes of getting more for what I spend. I thought if anything a lotion labeled as being for normal to dry skin would be too heavy for me normally but may be a good option before and during winter as I do get dry then. I've been using the Cerave AM at morning and Cerave PM lotion at night hoping to beat the winter dryness before winter. After a few days of use, I'm debating going back to aveeno. It absorbs quickly, isn't greasy and overall I like the feel of the lotions. However I feel like my skin isn't as moisturized as it's been with other products. Maybe the people with naturally dry skin have a different experience b/c their skin is naturally dry and any added moisture helps. But for someone who typically suffers from dry skin only in the winter, I'm noticing rough patches (after swapping to this line) and it's just nearing the end of summer. I don't usuallywrite reviews, but noticed there didnt seem to be many for people with my skin issues. Just writing for all my acne/combination skin friends out there. Any other recommendations are appreciated. I debated trying just the traditional? Cerave..seemed like more of a heavy duty all over moisturizing cream. Might still give that a go in the winter.

Peels so much 1

I had high hopes but the smell of the SPF was so strong and as soon as I rubbed it on my face it started peeling. My makeup over it was peeling and it created texture on my skin. Wouldn't recommend

I have combination skin and this stuff is perfect. Light and not greasy and does not leave a white sheen behind. My go-to every day moisturizer.
Not moisturizing at all and leaves a white cast 2

I'm in the process of trying to find a moisturizer for my dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin and this isn't the one for me. I like the fact that it has sunscreen, but it's not moisturizing in the SLIGHTEST. I literally put Shea butter on my face after applying this just for my face to feel moisturized. This product honestly just feels like a sunscreen.
Oh and I almost forgot!... it leaves a white cast on my face and makes my skin look pale and ashy🙄and it's heightened even more as a black girl because my skin is brown. I won't be buying again.
my fav! 5

I have combo skin that is v sensitive so most sunscreens hurt/burn immediately after putting them on. I use this as a moisturizer and double up in the summer for some sunscreen and love it! Definitely recommend< 3

I've been trying CeraVe products recently and this is the first one I really don't like. It is fine with my skin sensitivity. BUT The sunscreen content is too much in this formula. It does not feel hydrating in any way. Rather it smells and feels like sunscreen only. It also applies white and does not absorb easily.
It was okay 3

Made me breakout and have texture on my skin.
Doesn't Work Well 1

I have combination oily skin in the summer and combination dry skin in the winter. I got this during the winter and this is just a NO. It doesn't moisturize deep in the skin, just the surface. So my skin feels soft but when I move my face to speak or smile I can feel my face is dry beneath the surface. It also leaves behind white patches on my skin that I can't rub out. For me to pay almost $20 for only 3oz I expected much better!!
Not For Me 1

Let me preface this by saying I usually love CeraVe products. I use their Vitamin C Serum regularly so decided to try their daily facial moisturizer. After two days of using it, my face is itchy and covered in hives. I have never had a reaction to a facial product like this before. This is the only thing I have changed in my skincare routine and the hives have started to clear up on my first day not using it.

comes off in little balls 2

Had heard such great things about this brand and was excited to try this, but ended up being really disappointed. This moisturizer does not absorb well and ended up coming off in little pills or balls. Did not like it at all.
I will buy this product again 5

Works well but beware PILLING 3

I like this because it doesn't irritate my dry, sensitive skin and does give good protection but it can be difficult to apply. If I rub it in too much, the product begins to pill super bad and looks oddly chalky. But as long as I don't rub it in toooo much then it works fine, but there are better spfs out there definitely. I hope cerave improves this formula or comes out with another facial spf
simply good 5

Love this honestly and don't understand the bad reviews. I could see it leaving a white cast but if you're fair-medium skinned it shouldn't be an issue. There's really nothing overly complex about this, it's just a sunscreen and baseline moisturizer in one, perfect for any busy girl who doesn't have the time or energy or money for a 400 step luxury beauty routine. You really just get what you pay for. One pump every morning is all you need and it lasts forever.
Maybe good for other skins types except dry 3

I have eczema and have tried to find a good moisturizer with SPF coverage. This product left my skin feeling extra dry after applying it.
been using for years 5

I've been using this stuff for years. I love it. it is thicker. it can "pill" or peel and leave little white crumbs. but I haven't had a problem with that. I have dry skin, and I use this under my makeup or alone.
There's so many better ones out there. 2

It doesn't make your face super greasy which is nice, but it is nearly impossible to get this to absorb into your skin. It pills up so badly and it is extremely frustrating.
White Cast 1

I honestly wouldn't recommend this. Just using mine to get rid of it at this point. Everytime i use it whether it's after washing my face or on the run it always leaves a white cast and it leaves small little particles it's so annoying

I've purchased this product repeatedly and was shocked to see such negative reviews when I went to purchase it today. I haven't had any of the reported pilling or peeling. I apply a thin layer and use with or without makeup. Occasionally there's some white residue that disappears, which is from the physical sun blockers in this product. I think the negative reviews might be based on people expecting a chemical sunscreen that disappears into your skin, but this one works better because it has physical sun blockers.

I wanted to love this as I love the PM Cerave moisturizer. But once I rub it on my face, it pills up and leaves these little balls of moisturizer. I hate it...
great for dry skin 5
Amanda from Boston
I really like this moisturizer! it leaves me skin feeling hydrated and I don't have to worry about applying a separate sunscreen. it is thick but for my dry skin it works great. it does peel and clump at times, but I find if I exfoliate, then it doesn't do that
Great combo moisturizer/spf for oily/dehydrated skin 4
Rachel from Great Falls, MT
I really enjoy this moisturizer! It works well for my oily/dehydrated skin. And I always love Cerave's simple, yet really quality ingredients. I live in Montana and it's December, so my skin needs a little extra moisture. And because I'm not outside a whole lot, the combination moisturizer/spf is convenient and enough for me right now. Some people have complained that this is too heavy for their oily/acne prone skin, and that could be true if you have really oily skin. But if you have any dryness or dehydration you'll really enjoy it. It also hasn't made me break out. One negative I will say is that yes, it can pil. But for me, it only does that when I've used my vitamin C serum beforehand (it's the Babyface 15% MAP and I wouldn't really recommend it). But otherwise, any other serum I use before hand it goes on fine over top, no pilling. I definitely recommend really working it into your skin, if you let it dry down on its own it will leave white residue. It does also leave my skin a little shiny, but if you wear makeup, that's no big deal, makeup goes over this just fine. I don't wear makeup everyday (I'm a SAHM) so the shiny cast doesn't bother me at all. I've got no one to impress.
I plan on continuing to use this through the winter, then in summer plan on using something lighter and less hydrating paired with a separate spf for greater sun protection. But for now, I'm enjoying this for my skin in the winter months!
NOT black girl friendly 2

Looking for an oil-free sunscreen and was happy to find one. Unfortunately this leaves a white cast on my dark skin. It also pills and doesn't absorb well.
