Most Helpful Positive Review Gentle enough for chemo skin! I am currently being treated for leukemia, and chemo is really harsh on my skin. I get rashes and scabs and my skin dries and peels. My skin has also become super sensitive all over, so I've had to stop using my regular products and find something gentler. I remembered using Clinique when I was younger and how gentle it was, so I looked through their products and found this. The balm helps with moisture, which I then kick up a little bit with the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. The best part is that when my scalp started to get dry (no hair the past couple months), I just applied this to my scalp and like I do to my face and I get a clean scalp that's ready for a moisturizer too. I know this is meant to take off make up and to follow up with the 3-step system, but this gets my skin so clean and fresh feeling that I use it as a face cleanser all on its own. There are lots of little things that come from treatment that are just a reminder that the cancer is there, like pain and sensitivity. I really like that I can depend on this to help me feel normal, at least when I wash my face.
Most Helpful Critical Review Refuses to remove eyeliner and mascara I have been using Clinique for over 30 years, and noticed a lot of changes (and not very positive ones at that). "Take the Day Off," in the old days was only sold as a liquid and did a great job! Now, I have both liquid and cream and neither removes non waterproof mascara or eyeliner. You'd have to rub your skin off to get it off and I really don't get all the positive reviews. Clinique needs to step up and either find the old ingredients used in their products that made them work or really go back to the drawing board!

I've used many makeup removing balms, but I always come back to this one. You will not regret buying it. Melts everything and leaves your face super soft and supple, doesn't dry you at all.

This is the best makeup remover ever. It removes all makeup FAST. And the best part is I've had the same jar for 3 years because it literally takes the smallest amount. I'm just now having to buy a new one. That's how you know it's worth the money!

First step in removing my make up every night. Melts make up, even waterproof mascara.
Why didn't I know about this sooner! 5

I simply apply small amount in fingers then rub all over face and eyes to cleanse and remove makeup. I wear contacts and it leaves no film in eyes
I buy this product all the time. It Works! 5

Fabulous for sensitive skin! 5

I have mature, sensitive skin. This is the first product that I've used (and I've tried many) that doesn't break me out. I use this for the double cleansing method when I have face makeup on. It is excellent at getting off all of the product and once I cleanse again with my CeraVe, my skin is clean. Highly recommend.
If it's not working, you're using it wrong! 5

Even though the price on this has crept up over the 5 years I've used it, it's still the best balm in terms of $ per ounce on the market!
The negative reviews seem to be from people who don't understand how to use it. You apply it to your face and then you MUST add a small amount of water to your hands, massage, then rinse!
It will become milky with the water, not greasy, and it absolutely obliterates eyeliner, and mascara, even waterproof! I wouldn't trust anything else on my skin.i love that it's also fragrance free.

I use this every night before I was with cleanser and it is amazing! It dissolves all the makeup on my face and eyes and leaves my skin feeling fresh.

Works fine. Other brands are better. 3

I tried this as an alternative to farmacy green clean and it does not perform better. I would definitely recommend getting green clean over this. This one feels more like soap and the other feels like butter. This one also takes more scrubbing to work, and the other works faster with less product. Definitely recommend green clean over this product if you're looking for a cleansing balm.
No substitute! 4

I keep trying other balm cleansers, but keep going back to this! It's such a great pre cleanse. It is non greasy and leaves no after film. I gave it 4 stars due to the packaging. It would be helpful to have an included scoop or another tool to get the product out without digging with your fingers.
My Favorite Makeup Remover 5
ZoZo from Cedar Mill
I absolutely LOVE this product. It removes my makeup better than anything I've tried in the past. And if you use it sparingly, it should last a while. I usually go in once and wash it off. Then go in a second time to remove any leftover makeup. Only "complaint" I would say, is that it doesn't smell great. It doesn't smell bad either, but don't be surprised when it doesn't smell like roses.
This stuff broke me out like crazy 3

my skin was almost perfect. then i tried this stuff thinking it would help remove my makeup faster. it did that well, but not even a day later, my skin was inflamed, red, dry and flaky. ugh. i had to return. so disappointed.

I bought this because it was highly recommended by a YouTube beauty influencer and because it is half the price of the Colleen Rothschild cleansing balm. I like the CR cleansing balm. I do not like this. I feel like I am applying Crisco to my face - both in texture and smell. Terrible.
Difficulty with eye makeup 3

I've been using this for a few months as a first cleanse remove sunscreen and makeup, when I wear it. I've had problems with getting it to remove mascara and waterproof eyeliner completely. I have to rub a fair amount at my lashes and roll my lashes between my finger and thumb to remove all of my mascara (which isn't waterproof). That is making me lose a few lashes each time I have to do it. If I don't rub the lashes enough, it doesn't come off. I've tried letting it sit for a couple of minutes, which didn't help much.
With the waterproof eyeliner, even with a lot of rubbing, the color never fully comes off. It leaves a light layer that I cannot get off (shades of greens and blues, so it isn't just skin discoloration I'm thinking is a layer of makeup). With non-waterproof liner, the balm removes it without a problem.
I was hoping this would be an HG product for me, since I like the solid consistency of the product in the jar, but I need something to get waterproof eyeliner off (it was the only eyeliners I could find that had the shades I wanted).

I use this balm before my regular cleanser but even alone it helps my skin out a lot! Feels great on irritated skin and removes makeup effortlessly.

I use it as my first wash. I massaged to skin and remove makeup. Wash it off clean working the lather around my face. Then I follow up with my regular nightly routine.

I've been using this makeup remover for years and always go back to it! It never leaves my face greasy after I rinse it off and it really gets everything off. I'll never use anything else!

Constantly gets gunked up in my eyes and need to wash my eyes out after just to get some of the oily film out. Takes so many tries to remove face makeup too. Maybe balms aren't for me but ugh.

I'm gonna but this product again and again. I love it coz it cleanses and melt all the makeup residue that you have on your face.
Wow. It works. 5

I was expecting this to be greasy, heavy, and over rated. Wow, was I wrong. This product is effective, quick, and leaves a very light hydrating feel. It removed my eye makeup so well. Thankful I got two of them during the 21 days of beauty. It was my first time trying but I figured if I didn't like it I could just give it to a friend to try. But nope I'm keeping both as these are just phenomenal for my super sensitive skin. I like that it didn't need to be rubbed so hard, actually it requires very little pressure when massaging all over the face. I'll say the worst part about this would be the first part applying it dry to your makeup face, but once water is added it becomes nice and it rinses off well. Does not leave residue behind. Also a tiny amount is needed, about half a tablespoon or so depending on how much makeup is worn, how big the face is, etc. overall highly recommend this product.

Seriously a little bit goes along way, I have been using the mini travel size for over over a year and I still have A bit more left and I use a lot of eye makeup eyeliner and mascara usually and i just wipe a little over my eyes let it warm up and sit for a 30 seconds and then wipe away
