So, I am a 24 year old male that always thought my hair loss was purely hormonal and there was nothing I could do about it besides try and alter those hormones. This is because I keep my stress low, eat healthy foods, stay active, and use what I THOUGHT to be good haircare.
Then I got deep into a forum and saw posts of people discussing something ELSE besides DHT, calcification or other build up of some sort, that they were trying to treat with diluted magnesium oil. I wish I could find the post.
I have very dry, wavy curly hair and it seemed that neither traditional shampoos (sulfates, silicones) nor the curly-girl approved haircare made any difference, but curly-products at worst would build up and make it a little limp, but the traditional would really make my hair a weird texture and lose its curl while remaining very frizzy. Plus, who KNOWS what's in them.
I did find that on day-2 or 3 no washing my shedding would get really bad. Like, 3-4 hairs every time I run my hand through my head, without fail. I also sweat multiple times a day. I always heard that shampooing was bad for your hair, but what about my scalp? If nasty things (DHT, or not) were building up and causing this shedding, I would need an effective shampoo for my scalp that wouldn't disrupt the acid or moisture barrier.
Upon realizing my curly girl "moisturizing" shampoos all had butter or oil (this can not only make finer hair like mine limp, but keeps moisture from getting in the hair too!) I knew I had to try to switch things up.
So my plan was too use a steroid, prescription, protein, butter/oil-free scalp-clarifying shampoo. I use COSDNA.com for all of my cosmetics as well. I learned what sulfate-derivitives (altered to be less harsh than their detergent cousins) would be safe from them and settled on trying Derma-e Scalp Relief Shampoo. It met all of my criteria.
And boy, was I right.
I was disappointed at first. I did the same thing I usually do cleanse, rinse thoroughly, apply my conditioner, rinse thoroughly, lightly blot with a t-shirt, and use my hair cream through the nearly-sopping-wet hair, adjust the position of the "clumps" and wait for it to dry until it was 80-90% done, then diffuse (sometimes I skip that). Sometimes I'll use an unscented body powder and/or a sea salt spray if it's too limp or greasy. I use a homemade toner on my scalp and face (spraying it on fingertips and massaging it for the scalp). It's just rosewater and witch hazel (any brand, in a dark glass spray bottle, at about a 6:1 ratio).
That night, I was watching tv with my mom and sadly pulling out my hair at the same rate as before. Worse still, my scalp kind of itched MORE. But, my hair did look a little cleaner and the build up was gone, and it was a little less frizzy! So that was good.
I didn't think about it much, until the next week. I started running my hands though my hair again, expecting the sad usual. Nothing. I tried again... nothing. I sorta bug-eyed at my hand, and went to sleep.
The next day, and from then on, I have been losing almost NOTHING. Even in the shower, I only lost two-three hairs. Throughout the day, I probably lose a total of 10-20. But that is nothing compared to the 150+ I was losing before. I did look at the directions and it did say that it's most effective after 7 days, so that made sense to me.
I really still can't believe it. It's been three weeks total and still getting the results.
I am not affiliated and I NEVER leave reviews, but I am putting this out there because, a.) it could help someone that had the same problem as me and b.) with more sales, perhaps the chance of them discontinuing it will lower!
I think my problem was more complex than just DHT. From what I gathered, "it" all ends up on the scalp, and if you take care of that, the damage could be stopped or minimized. I was about to risk it all and start using dht-blocking supps and foods... I'm so glad I tried this first.
I think my hair loss will continue, as the hairs I do lose are in the "MPB" areas, but whatever problems that were caused from my scalp health (diffuse, but HEAVY thinning) have completely stopped and slowed the process down incredibly.
In terms of texture and aesthetics, my hair has never looked so good. It's got bounce and wave, stays frizz-free but still voluminous for a long time. I could go 4-5 days without washing it, but I don't because of my active lifestyle and the fact it's gentle enough to use daily.
I do love the hair cream and the toner I use, but I was using both of these things before the results came. I really think it's the shampoo.
The slight itchy feeling after showers that goes away after 1-2 minutes hasn't stopped yet, but I suspect it will and it's a small price to pay for the results.
With it being such a minimal formula, I don't think the chance of it messing up your hair routine is high, unless you have a sensitivity to skin-safe essential oils (I believe it uses tea tree, neem, and chamomile among others).
I think it's worth a try for just about anyone. Try it for a few weeks, and be the judge. Take care of your scalp, and see what happens.
Peace and blessings! :)

The reviews were promising about this shampoo, but the reviews were wrong. This shampoo left my hair with a greasy film on it, and it made it seem like I didn't wash my hair AT ALL. My roots were still greasy and I couldn't even get a comb through it after. I was extremely disappointed in this shampoo. I added no other products to my hair and let it dry over night, and when I woke up my hair was greasy and fell into chunks (if that makes sense). I was so disgusted when I woke up I had to re wash my hair with a new shampoo.

I love DermaE products more than i've ever loved any products! Recently I was in california visiting my sister, and when i got back home to vegas, my hair and scalp were in desperate need of some TLC from all the sand and salt that accumulated. When i got in the shower and lathered up, it was instant euphoria. The way the tea tree oil invigorated and rejuvenated my scalp was the best thing i could have asked for after my trip.
I have very curly hair and sometimes i use the conditioner as a cowash! thank me later
Seborrheic dermatitis is no match for this stuff
Kimbo from Colorado
I initially purchased the conditioner firts since the store was out of the shampoo at the time. I used my regular shampoo with this conditioner and WOW. i have seborrheic dermatitis and its been flaring up a lot. With my last shampoo/conditioner literally right out of the shower as my hair dried it would have these massive flakes and still be itchy, just less. With this stuff its a whole different story. I had to go back and get the shampoo! I still have smaller flakes as my hair dries but not nearly as bad, plus its soothing to use and really let the conditioner 'marinate' on the scalp! 10/10! Im sure with more regular use itll get better as well, this is my 2nd time using it.

I loved this shampoo! Definitely made my hair feel soft and made my head less itchy!

I have always had a problem with itchy scalp and my hair having too many oils leaving my hair to look greasy the very next morning. This has become a life changer. It helped remove almost all of my flakes and itchiness after one use of this and the conditioner. My hair doesn't get as oily as quickly either. I ran out and had to use a different shampoo/conditioner and my problems came back immediately. My scalp didn't feel as clean so I will be buying this again
Bye Itchy scalp
Gigi Epiic from Inverness, FL
I live in Florida and with the heat and humidity comes an itchy scalp! I don't know what causes it, but I know what helps ease it. This has also helped with flakes and build up. I can run run my fingers against my scalp without feeling grit or seeing flakes! It also makes my hair smell good too.

My scalp feels so fresh! Scalp Relief Shampoo has helped to soothe my itchy scalp. I love that it has ingredients that support my scalp health as well as my hair. My hair looks well moisturized and shiny. The smell of the herbs in this shampoo is invigorating! I will buy again and again.

I have an autoimmune disease and sometimes suffered from dry skin and scalp due to medications. I used this product and still have been using it for two weeks along with the conditioner! I have noticed a huge difference and my scalp is noticeably healthier.

I used this shampoo and it worked very well. I am only giving it 4 stars because the menthol it is a little much . I not a fan of that be used in shampoo. But it did work on my scalp for sure .
The BEST shampoo for dandruff
Kim from Tennessee
I rarely write reviews on websites but this shampoo (and the conditioner) are hands down the best products I've ever used to treat dandruff. If you feel like you've tried every shampoo to help with dandruff and still haven't found one you love, get this. You won't regret it!
Ashley B from Mesa, AZ
It's a great line. I've tried lots of clean shampoos and they haven't kept my hair clean as long as regular shampoo, but this one worked great! And it feels so refreshing.

I've been having issues with scalp for years and it had been continuously getting worse to the point of bleeding and hair loss. I had an appointment with a dermatologist and then COVID hit. After searching the Internet I started using the Derma E Scalp Relief conditioner. Within a few days my scalp improved so much. The itching was gone, the sores were healing, and my hair wasn't constantly oily. The conditioner does have a strong tingle/cooling feeling that grows stronger the longer you let it sit. The smell is also strong while using it but I don't notice it once my hair is dry. The change in my hair and scalp is amazing!

Helps with scalp psoriasis!

I have psoriasis on my scalp. This shampoo helps tremendously with the itch, flakiness, and dryness. I love that it feels "minty" on the head. Definitely recommend!
Don't buy if you have combination dry/oily scalp
Sophia from Portland, OR
I purchased this to try to help with my scalp issues because I have an oily scalp that gets spots of flaky/dry buildup. This shampoo stripped my hair completely of all of its natural oils and made my dry/flaky buildup even worse. I have never had such an itchy scalp before, and my hair went from smooth to dry/brittle. If you find that your scalp issue is all oil and no dry spots this might work for you, but be careful if you have a sensitive scalp or an unbalanced oily/dry scalp.
Great for problem scalps
Tia from MI
I have Afro-texture hair with a problem scalp. This is the only shampoo that I've used thus far to keep my scalp clear. It smells great and tingling senation feels amazing. This will be in my rotation of shampoo forever.

Amazing shampoo and fairly priced. Leaves hair shinny and manageable and its one of the best I've tried.
BEST NATURAL SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER EVER
Elfie from AL
This is the best natural/non-toxic shampoo and conditioner I have tried since I switched from mainstream salon products about 7 years ago. The shampoo feels therapeutic and reminds me of mainstream tea tree shampoos, but this one feels better. The conditioner has amazing SLIP and feels like a true conditioner should feel (unlike many natural conditioners that don't detangle well). I was able to detangle my hair so easily, and it usually takes me forever! I'm so excited to see how these products perform after several weeks of use! Wonderful first impression!
Clear up my scalp on first use
