Beautiful product but oily

Sunscreen is the single most important beauty product we can use. My skin tyope is very sensitive (including to sun) and combination. I burn easily, medium fair skin. The good: if you shake well, product goes on easily no grit. Does leave slight white cast ...

Admittedly I had high hopes for this product before receiving it/being chosen to test and honestly review it. Let me say that it did not disappoint!! This is easily the best and most luxurious feeling spf I've used. No white cast, stays on all day, great under makeup or alone.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

This is hands down the oiliest sunscreen I've ever used!! It's nearly impossible to work with. I've ruined multiple tops because of the greasy residue it leaves behind. I've even resorted to waking up two hours early just to apply it to my face, neck, and chest—and that's two full hours just for sunscreen application alone. That's before makeup, getting dressed, or doing anything else to get ready for the day. I'll spend an hour trying to blow-dry my skin in hopes it will dry down and absorb — but it never does. Even after waiting two full hours before dressing, the slick, greasy layer doesn't go away. It stays oily for a full 24 hours, never sinking in, no matter how long I wait. I often have to apply face powder all over my neck and chest just to dull the shine and avoid destroying more clothes. Without powder, it transfers onto everything—especially clothing—and leaves oil stains. I now only use this sunscreen on days I'm staying home in old clothes I don't care about. Trying to use this on my entire body for a beach day was a disaster. I felt like I'd bathed in frying oil—slick, uncomfortable, and absurdly messy. The formula is also so greasy it easily migrates into my eyes. And after all this effort, it doesn't even seem to protect my skin well. The previous version had 20% zinc oxide, which gave me confidence in its protective abilities. This new version only has 5% zinc, and given how easily I've gotten sunburned while wearing it, I suspect they also reduced or removed the titanium dioxide. The protection just isn't there anymore. It feels more like an oily skincare cream than a functioning sunscreen. On top of all that, it's extremely difficult to remove. At the end of the day, I have to get in the shower just to wash my face. I end up using my cleanser multiple times over 10+ minutes, and I'm going through my cleanser way too fast just trying to get this stuff off. While I understand that this may have beneficial skincare ingredients—like the company promotes—that's not the primary goal of a sunscreen. What matters most is ease of use and effective sun protection. Unfortunately, this formula fails at both. The old version was far superior: it protected my skin, had a high concentration of zinc oxide (and likely titanium dioxide as well), and was something I could actually use without ruining my clothes or needing to cover myself in powder. I was excited when this product came back and bought several bottles, but now I'm stuck with them. I'm currently testing alternatives from other Japanese brands in particular and hoping to find a replacement. Very annoyed and disappointed with Shiseido for this oily mess which is lacking in sun protection.

Love the texture, but I wish there were less of a white cast

I really like the lightweight texture and matte, but not dull look. Normally I can't wait to get home and wash away sunscreen, but this feels nice and doesn't sting my eyes. I wish it left less of a white cast, but I guess the only options in the U.S. are matte but pale, transparent but oily, or tinted. I have combination+sensitive skin, and I can't stand anything that makes me look oily, so I appreciate this option, and I like that it's versatile and can be used on the face and body. I've tried two sizes: the smaller one comes with an eye-dropper tip that makes it a breeze to dispense and apply gradually, but the bigger one is a flip top with a dispenser hole, and you reallyyyy wanna be careful when squeezing it or you'll end up with a palmful of sunscreen because it's very runny. I wish Shiseido would reconsider their 5 fl oz bottles, because they all seem to have this problem. I've considered keeping the small bottle and refilling with the large one, but I doubt it's hygienic to do more than a couple refills this way.

I'm so upset because the old formula was great! The new one is so greasy! Never sinks into skin, easily slips around, always gets into eyes and on clothes. Doesn't protect well -I got sunburned!

Perfect mineral sunscreen; terrible bottle/lid design

Comments about Sun Protector Lotion Mineral SPF 60+

I love love LOVE this sunscreen. It is the perfect mineral sunscreen, and my husband and I use it on both face and body. It is super thin (liquidy) and rubs in really easily, even on my husband's hairy arms and legs. It leaves a slight white cast, but it looks more "glowy" (and less "chalky") than other mineral sunscreens I've tried (and I've tried A LOT of them). It dries down quickly to a not-quite-matte finish. It kind of feels like a really nice moisturizer, and the skin on my face looks plumper when I'm wearing it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the bottle is the dumbest design ever. I can understand wanting a unique bottle design, but it needs to be practical, and this shape is NOT practical. My husband and I both prefer to dispense sunscreen directly onto our arms and legs, but this bottle and lid shape make that impossible. You can't control where the sunscreen goes; it squirts out all over the place and drips down the side of the lid and bottle. You have to squirt it into your cupped hand (like I said - it's really liquidy so without cupping your hand it would slide right out), then apply it to your arms and legs. That was driving us crazy, so I purchased a refillable twist top applicator bottle that has an open/close nozzle and I pour the Shiseido sunscreen into the other bottle for use. It works, but I would prefer Shiseido put the product in a useful bottle, like the one the Isdin Eryfotona Actinica sunscreen comes in, with a narrow nozzle tip so you can apply the sunscreen to arms and legs directly from the bottle before rubbing in instead of having to put it in your hand first.
