I recieved the Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation in shade SF1 Formentera for free in exchange for my honest review. I was excited to try this reformulated foundation that includes active & clean skincare ingredients that can help refine the look of my skin's tone and texture while also being nourish...ing, soothing and calming. I have normal to dry skin, lots of redness and big pores from my oily years so, it's difficult to find a foundation with the right balance for my needs. I found this foundation to be a bit finicky at first to apply over my SPF, no matter what the finish of it was it would cause pilling if I tried applying it like a serum with my fingers as instructed. I've had the last 3 weeks to play around with this formula and I have found that it's important to wait for your last step prior to application to dry or settle and not to rub this foundation in over top of your SPF. I found this formula applies best for me by pressing it on with a damp, microfiber/velvety textured beauty sponge and clean fingertips. It layers nicely over top of itself so you can easily build up coverage where you need it, the sponge doesn't lift or make it look splotchy. Gently pressing over smaller areas with a clean fingertip also works well. The shade match for my fair-light neutral/cool leaning skintone is practically perfect & seamless (which never happens). The finish is comfortable, lightweight and looks natural, giving your skin a healthy and radiant glow from within especially, when applied over their True Skin Radiant Priming Serum. This foundation feels smooth, almost velvet-like to the touch once it has dried down and is calming & nourishing to my unpredictable, easy-to-flare-up skin. I haven't experienced any irritation or breakouts nor does it transfer or separate on me. The longer I wear it the better it looks and feels throughout the day, mixing with my skins natural oils. Though my skin is on the dryer side, I just make sure that I am well moisturized & hydrated before application. And when used over top of their priming serum, this foundation will last all day on me without caking or creasing or any need for touch ups. It wears comfortably & looks great both with and without powder. This lightweight, light-medium coverage, silky serum foundation effortlessly covers & reduces my cheeks redness, softens my fine lines & blurs out my large pores, evens out my skins tone & texture all while letting my natural skin show through. My skin still looks like my skin just better. This would be 5 stars if it weren't so finicky over SPF or if it had the SPF included in the formula however, it's easily remedied & worth the results. I definitely reccomend giving this a try if you're looking for a skincare lovers dream foundation that's going to make your skin look and feel better while still looking like your skin.
