Press the power icon button for 3-5 seconds so the tool starts heating up. Display will show the straightening comb is heating to the default temperature (370°F). Once the tool begins to heat up, the temperature lock will engage in 3-5 seconds (as shown by the lock icon on display and "LOC" when you move the dial in its locked state). Numerals will blink until heat setting is reached. To select a different temperature, rotate the dial clockwise and then immediately counterclockwise to disengage the temperature lock. Then choose your heat setting by turning the dial clockwise to increase temperature or counterclockwise to decrease. When done styling, hold the power icon button for 3-5 seconds to shut the tool off.
- Apply your L'ange heat protectant of choice.
- Select a manageable section of hair, 1"-1.5" in width.
- Using the comb on the underside of the section, begin near the root and glide at a slow pace down, pulling your hair as close to the base as possible to create tension.
- Depending on thickness and texture of your hair, an additional pass may be desired.
- Unplug Smooth-It and wait until completely cooled before storing away.

Works well for tidying up straight hair
I have very wavy hair, semi frizzy. Although it does straighten my hair, I had to go through with several passes to get it to feel soft. It does the job, but definitely not as good as a flat iron and because I had to do so many passes, it definitely took me a lot longer. That's not the reason for th...

Just okay
I wanted to love this, but i dont. Purchased to introduce my daughter into the world of straighteners, it seemed tween friendly and easy to use. It does heat up quickly, but takes several passes to get the hair straigjt for both her and me. I love Lange, but this tool is just okay.
Not the best option for curly hair
So this straightener it makes like your hair like the tips the end like it makes the hair like it's just dry like it's bad for your hair because it's just like makes it so dry and I tried it also on the straight hair and it still made it dry and it doesn't really straighten at all. You only have to do it by like peace and peace, but it will take so long cause you will have to do like five times to finally get straight. Ur hair will look puffy so I don't recommend.
Not a good product, one star
Doesn't work and will burn your head and scalp even holding it an inch or two away and doesn't straighten
Love this for my curly, thick hair!
Make sure your hair is completely dry before using. Also, it works well with heat protection spray. This cuts down the time I straighten my hair by half. I section my hair, straightening one small section at a time.
Returned heat tool
It was difficult to have my hair actually go between the "brush" slots..they were so close together if I didn't hold my hair tight and try to push it through the tool to the heated area, the tool would just run over the top of my hair. I have thin hair so I imagine if you have very thick hair it would be even harder to use.
