What a surprise - it really works!
Gone are the days of that clunky and scary old epilator you found in your mother's vanity...the Braun Silk-epil is handy, pretty painless, and super effective! It's nicely packed in sturdy, protective packaging - and it's ready to use right away! In the past, I've used rechargeable epilators and e...

painful and tedious, but still best at-home hair removal
It's not easy to review this, because I have conflicting feelings about it. First, the negatives: it hurts like A LOT!!! Despite what people tell you, the pain doesn't go down that much, and I've used it consistently for half a year. I think the reason why it feels subjectively less painful over time is that (a) you get used to it and (b) because of the different hair growth cycle, you're removing less hair at each session. It also left me with red bumps and ingrown hair, even though I was careful with pre- and post-care, which is not something I had ever experienced with shaving, so buyer beware. I could still live with these two issues if it wasn't for the fact that it is insanely time consuming if you're using it on you legs, at least an hour. The issue is that it doesn't grab all the hairs, and you end up doing multiple passes in the same area. Even with that, you end up with individual hairs that the epilator won't pick up, no matter how many passes you do, and you end up having to pluck them out with tweezers--you can imagine how time consuming that is! On to the positives: while it doesn't last as long as they claim (I start seeing random hairs after a week, and need to use it realistically every two weeks, more in the summer months), it still lasts much longer than shaving, particularly for those of us furry girls. I like the shaving attachment for a quick, easy and painless trim of my hair down there,. The price is super affordable, particularly because it's a one-time purchase, unlike all other hair removal techniques that require ongoing purchases, and the shaving attachment alone makes it worth it. I still prefer it over other at-home hair removal methods for my legs, but it doesn't live up to my expectations.
So many ingrown hairs. Do not buy
I used this three times. Every time resulted in a ridiculous amount of ingrown hairs. Dont waste your money on this
Eh it's ok I guess
If you grow hair fast youll have to use this every few days doesnt pull the hair from the root and still leaves ingrowns even after using an exfoliating sponge everyday
Learning curve, but works great
I usually sugar wax and shave, but i was getting annoyed with how long the hairs had to be to wax. This came in the day after i had waced my legs so when i tried it i wasnt super hopeful it would do much. However, it got all the fine little hairs that id missed the day before, the hairs that were too short and the spots that were awkward to reach with directional waxing. I was even able the get the peach fuzz on my face. It does hurt, but its also just a weird sensation. After a few min i was used to it and barely noticed. Over all very happy, i would consider getting a more expensive version after this one wears out.
It's good just not great
I bought this epilator a couple of month ago just to test it out. It does mostly remove the hair from the root but sometimes the hair breaks off and it looks like I shaved my legs. It does take longer for the hairs to grow back and the hair appears lighter I mostly used this on my legs. When I had decided the use it on my underarms it was as expected extremely painful and looked like I had shaved when the hairs started coming back. as well as lots of ingrown hair for both legs and underarms. As someone who waxed before I would say waxing would be best for underarms, while for legs epilating would be easier especially in summer for when you don't want to wait for the leg hair to get really long. I just recommend exfoliating to avoid the ingrown hairs.
