Item 2562930
Because everyone's hair is different, do the strand test and see the result of the color before full application. A patch test is also recommended to confirm you're not allergic.
Step 1: Shampoo and dry hair thoroughly. Do NOT use conditioner.
Step 2: Use coconut oil (or petroleum jelly) around hairline and on ears to prevent staining of the skin (optional).
Step 3: Remove bottle cap and inner seal.
Step 4: Wear protective gloves for application and pour desired amount into bowl.
Step 5: Apply color evenly with color brush. Begin at the root of the hair and work it evenly through to the ends. Start nape of the neck and work upwards through the head and be sure to completely saturate the hair shaft.
Step 6: Place a plastic cap over the hair and leave color on for at least 1/2 hour or more. Arctic Fox hair color will NOT damage your hair and has added conditioner, so leaving it on for longer will not hurt a thing.
Step 7: Rinse hair in tepid water thoroughly, until the water runs clear. For the first rinse, do not rinse hair while showering! Best bet is to rinse in the kitchen sink with cold water.
To prevent color bleeding make sure hair is completely dry before sleeping.

Do i need to mix this with any sort of developer? I'm new to the semi-permanent colors and how they work…
- Asked by Kate
- Official Answer By Arctic Fox - Brand EngageThanks for asking! No developer needed! All Arctic Fox colors are semi-permanent direct dyes, so they do not use developer or peroxide to work and should also never be mixed with any as this would result in a patchy and/or faded result. If the hair needs to be lightened in order for the color to turn out vibrantly, this must be done prior to applying the dye. But the dye itself is ready to use straight out of the bottle! 😊Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Will this color work on gray hair that is silver?
- Asked by JoJo
- Official Answer By Arctic Fox - Brand EngageIt can be hard to say for sure since unbleached and/or gray/silver hair can vary a lot in how well it takes color, but in general, if you stick with darker and more highly pigmented colors you should get at least a tint of color to gray hair! The best colors would be these here: https://arcticfoxhaircolor.com/collections/best-colors-for-unbleached-hair 😊Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Will it bleed onto pillowcases? If so, will it wash out easily?
- Asked by JoJo
- Official Answer By Arctic Fox - Brand EngageThanks for checking. Some of the more pigmented colors can bleed onto pillowcases. Being a semi-permanent though, it should wash out although it may take a few washings. We would suggest blotting the stain with a stain remover, rubbing alcohol or a solution of dish soap and hydrogen peroxide. For white pillowcases, a bleach soak can be effective. Always wash in cold water after treating and air dry to see if the stain is gone before repeating the process. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Do I need to bleach my hair first?
- Asked by Bilebill
- Official Answer By Arctic Fox - Brand EngageThanks for asking! Some of the colors - especially the pastel colors - do require lightening first. You can check our website for the specific color you are interested in. The description should tell you if that particular color would do better on lighter hair. And we always suggest to test on a strand first to see how the color takes since every hair base is different. Was this answer helpful to you

The best I've found so far
I have been using arctic fox for almost a year now. I have used to it maintain my hair in various shades of blue, purple, pink, and turquoise. I switched over from overtone because it was staining my hair, esp the dark blue. Arctic fox does not do this, but it also needs to be refreshed a bit more...

VIRGIN BLONDES - AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE !!!!
This product was an absolute nightmare ! Used this on my VIRGIN, all natural & very healthy dark ash blonde hair, from mid length to ends for a cool ombré effect. The color never washed out and it's been 8 months. I've tried multiple chelating shampoos, dandruff shampoo, the vitamin c treatment, etc...

Tell Tell color
I've been using this product for years. I love it. When I'm out and about people asked me where you get a hair color I'll tell him. I purple.
New fave!
I used to be a Manic Panic girl but now that I've discovered Arctic Fox I can't go back. First, the colors are beautiful! Second, the smell!!! Ahhh, I can't quite describe it but it's very pleasant. Lastly, I find that this hair dye doesn't stain my bathtub as much as Manic Panic did. All in all I am quite happy with this brand and my go to fave is Ritual with a a little bit of Purple AF mixed in. It gives me that perfect burgundy shade I love!
Ritual is nice, but hate Transylvania
I bought Ritual and Transylvania, but only like Ritual. I have medium brown hair with lots of blonde strands, naturally. Both colors covered very well and looks great initially. Transylvania is a blue toned black, which faded to green toned black after the first wash. I hated that. I used Ritual over the Transylvania to tone out the green, which worked well. I wouldn't recommend Transylvania, there are lots of better non permanent blacks. I would recommend Ritual though, its very pretty.
Blue jean baby
Hair Type Wavy Hair
Love blue jean baby on my bleached ends. Stays for at least a week as long as I use mostly lukewarm water and don't put shampoo directly on the blue parts. Is a really pretty navy color (I leave it on for at least an hour when dying)
Ginger Flare & Ritual beautiful
First, I used Ritual on my hair. it faded gorgeous to a dusty mauve. After the fade, I put Ginger Flare on top of the faded mauve. it is so potent and took in my hair beautifully. I absolutely love Artic Fox because the colors are vivid and so easy to work with. I left each in on my dry hair for about 1.5-2 hrs. I rinsed in cool water. It matters the condition of your hair along with any other colors or coloring like permanent you used. prior.
