Does its job properly but not great for fine curly hair

I have fine naturally curly 3a/3b red hair, with low porosity. It is easily dried out. My usual routine involves curl cream, gel for a cast, and mousse for volume. I saw a video recently for a curly influencer who suggested using hairspray instead of the curl cream + mousse. I liked the idea of simp...lifying my routine, so I got this because I've been happy with Joico in the past. Here is the good stuff: - It provides excellent hold, so from that perspective it does exactly what you'd expect out of a hair spray. - The smell is light and pleasant and doesn't linger too much. This means it won't compete with your nice perfume or clash with any other products you might be using in your hair. - The hold lasts through the day and into subsequent days. In this, I was very impressed. The not so great for curly hair - I have fine hair. I like my curls to 'clump' into larger ringlets. I found when I used this, my curls at the side and back would muss up overnight (even though I sleep on a satin pillowcase) and would tangle and become a mess. When I rewet my hair the following day, I got tiny spaghetti curls instead. - It is very drying. I don't know what ingredient did this (alcohol?) but it left my normally silky hair feeling like straw. This may be typical of hair sprays generally. It just wasn't something I enjoyed feeling anytime I touched my hair (my partner commented on it too). So the bottom line is that it smells good and it works well, but would be far better suited to someone with a smooth or straightened style. I still recommend it as a result, because it definitely had hold, it wasn't obnoxiously smelly (like so many hair sprays!) and it definitely lasted throughout an entire long day.
