Most Helpful Positive Review NOT Oil Free
I use this everyday after I shower. Been using it for almost a year and I really like it and have no complaints besides that it is NOT OIL FREE! Didn't realize this till this recent purchase but it still works great.
Most Helpful Critical Review Too greasy, SPF smell too strong
Was on a hunt for a face SPF, picked this one up along with a few others from different brands. My skin is combo so the main concern when choosing these was for them not to cause any more oiliness. I also have medium olive skin tone so second concern was no white cast.
This one was way too greasy for my face, not even remotely suitable for my skin type. It does feel very moisturizing so I ended up leaving it to use on my arms, neck, and hands. Does seem to provide good sun protection, but not great, I still would get color if exposed to sun too long. I live in Southern Cali so I can get tanned by just commuting to and from work year around (no tint on the car). For the above usage this is obviously too expensive and not even effective enough, so I won't be repurchasing it.
Lastly I found the SPF smell to be too strong. Unlike others I actually like a typical SPF scent but as long as it's not too heavy, best if it's a hint mixed with something else beach-inspiring like coconut, vanilla, etc. In this case it was just too overpowering, even when I layered it over a scented lotion.

Having acne is hard from Chico, CA
I used this as a daily moisturizer after cleansing and using a toner. It absorbed into my skin well, and I loved the dewy way it made my skin look. I used the same small bottle for several months, so a little goes a long way! Unfortunately, it made my skin feel very congested, and my acne flared up. My pores were full of gunk, my face was really oily, and I started getting cystic acne on my face and neck. I quit using it three days ago and my skin has already calmed down immensely, and the cysts are going away. If you have skin that isn't acne-prone or is more dry, this could be great for you. If your skin is acne-prone, be careful!
I like it
acneprincess from Oakland, CA
Ive been using this with the cucumber lotion, and acne cleanser and I have no complaints other than that it does indeed sting my eyes if I get it on my lids or too close to my water line. Other than that a little goes a long way. I have dry/comb skin
Gets in your eyes and stings
Erika Z from Los Angeles, CA
This is like using a chemical body sunscreen on your face and have it continuously sweat into your eyes and sting. This is the first face sunscreen that has stung my eyes. Going to use the rest of it as a body moisturizer as I can't even give it away.
Really hoping to find a replacement
Key from Colorado
I have normal to oily skin and have been using this for years. At first I liked it so I decided to tolerate how it stings my eyes and tends to sit on my face. I just assumed I had to deal with it because it had good SPF, and it stings they eyes just like sunblock does. But let me tell you, it's really annoying when you have people asking if you're crying at work and then you have to explain that it's the moisturizer you use. Because any sane person would discontinue use, and here I am using it for like 10 years…
I just haven't found moisturizers I like better, so I'm stuck for now since trying new moisturizers just got too expensive. They should shave off at least $10 from the price point because the cons take away from the product, A LOT.

I wear this every day as my base lotion and sun protection. I've used it for over a year and WOW! First of all, I'm still using the same bottle — a little goes a long way! Perhaps the most impressive thing is that I have never gotten sunburnt with it; this is coming from a person who has had to use 100+ sunscreen ALWAYS (no, 30 or even 50 SPF does not work like 100 SPF does!) and burns within 10 minutes of being in the sun without protection. I'm so fair-skinned that I can hardly use any brand's concealer or foundation because even the lightest shades are orange on me (I've loved using the lightest shade liquid concealer from Jovia's Place — another great product to try if you're very fair-skinned). All this to say, I'm blown away by this product.
My skin is average to dry. It's not incredibly oily whatsoever, but you may find it helpful to use a matte foundation or tint over it if you're concerned. No white streaks.
I'm always so tempted to try the newest and prettiest products, but this is a keeper!

This product stings your eyes!
TR from Tulsa
This product is bad!! It's stings your eyes. And you can taste it in your mouth. I love Mario Badescu and have used a lot of their products but this is not one that I would recommend!!
Would not buy again
Cari from Mississippi
I stopped using Tula because I felt that Tula wasn't working like I wanted it to work for my face after using it for 2 months . However , I switched to Mario Badesscu products and my face was horrible . Did not like the effects after using all products for a week . This particularly product is a little on the oily side so if you decide to use it don't use other oily products unles you have very very dry skin .
Stinging to Eyes
Chinjillavanilla from Detroit Metro
This sunscreen is the worst. I've tried it three or four times now, and every time it gets in my eyes and they end up burning, watery, and painful, even though I avoid the eye area, and sometimes hours later. I can't believe this is an offering from a premium brand like MB at this price point. It feels like I am putting regular for-your-body suntan lotion on my face. It's not particular greasy, but it does seem to just sit on your skin. There are countless better offerings for facial sunscreen out there. Cotz and Olay mineral are light years beyond this. Even a dial-up sunscreen stick is better than this. Don't do it.
LOVE- I will buy again!
Melbie from Oklahoma City
I use this every morning and night. I just love the consistency of this moisturizer, it doesn't feel heavy or light.
I love MB but this isn't good
SP from SAN FRANCISCO
It does moisturize, but it's greasy and gets in your eyes and mouth like other reviewers have said and it stings when that happens. I have combo skin so maybe this only works if you're skin is really dry. There are much better options out there for this price point.
Gets into eyes and mouth. Very uncomfortable.
Barbarasem from NJ
The fact that it gets into mouth and eyes makes this fairly good lotion absolutely unusable. I don't put it on my lips, just around the mouth and I still feel bitter taste n my mouth for an hour or so. Same thing with eyes. My eyes sting every time I use it.
I use this daily after toner and before cc cream
Kelsey from Seattle, WA
I use this daily as part of my routine. It's not perfect, I think it could feel a little softer or smoother after application but I don't have any problems with it. It keeps me from getting sun burnt, kept my skin moist during winter and my other applications go on smooth after. I also have oily/acne prone skin. I think this does okay not breaking me out.
Christine from Central California
This small bottle lasts a long time - 6 months and is a good price, imo. I have combo skin and in the winter it can dry around my t-zone. This moisturizer solved that after one or two uses. The biggest drawback is that despite being oil free, it looks shiny on my face and takes a while to absorb fully. ( I use it 2x a day). Once i put on my foundation it seems to even out and my face doesnt look so shiny. However, I felt like I couldnt run out the house with just moisturizer on my face bc it looked greasy. I definitely wouldnt buy this in the summer time but in the winter maybe i'll buy it again if I havent found something better.
Would Purchase Again
Nati from Delran, NJ
Moisturizer has a good consistency, not too thick or runny. Nice, not overpowering scent. Doesn't make me extra oily on my already oily-combo skin.
Greasy and bad reaction
Sydney from Bellingham
I was really hoping for a good moisturizer with SPF, this was not it. I broke out in tiny white heads and it made my face super greasy and lots black heads on my nose. When I returned it, the girl working said she doesn't recommend this brand to anyone...
Lotto from Montana
I've always wanted to try to Mario Badescu and this was an unfortunate introduction.
The moisturizer through out the day just slide off my face under and not under make-up.
Oily feeling and bad reaction
Ashley from Napa
This caused a major skin reaction all over my face and it made my face was really oily. My face ended up peeling and burned a bit. I am so glad I figured out that this was causing the reaction requiring medical attention.
Go To Moisturizer from Winston-Salem, NC
It's funny how there are a lot of reviews about how the product burns their eyes when the product states to avoid the eye area. Anyways, this product works very well for me. I have a dark skin tone and doesn't leave a white cast for me and it doesn't make me very oily throughout the day either. I would recommend this product!
Strange Reaction to my Skin
SignatureWit from TN
I tried it for the first time, felt nice when it went on, smelled nice, and my skin felt good. After using it for about three days however, I noticed some serious drying and peeling on my skin that wasn't there before. Not sure if I had a mild allergic reaction or if it just didn't agree with my skin or what, but I'm still trying to get my skin back to normal, would not recomend.
beware if you are on birth control
Dani from Philadelphia
do not use this face moisturizer if you are using the hormonal birth control pills. This moisturizer has St. John's Wart in it and this has been proven to make your birth control less effective.
Awful smell, instant headache
Al from Arkansas
I used to use this lotion a few years ago, and I could tell that it was just as moisturizing and soft as I remembered. Unfortunately, they must have changed the formula because it now has a horribly strong cologne smell. It gave me a headache instantly and had to scrub my face several times to get rid of the smell. If you're sensitive to perfumes, this is not for you.
Gwen from Nc
Get the job done but it's just glorified and not even that good for your skin wouldn't buy it again. And I didn't finish the first one

Works well except for my eyes
Sarah from NJ
This was great until it transferred into my eyes and I had to repeatedly flush my eyes out with water to get rid of the stinging/blurriness
