Most Helpful Positive Review Absolute holy grail
This is the only moisturizer I plan to use for the rest of my life.
I purchased the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA 100 mL in August of 2019, and as of today, August 5th 2020, I have officially finished that first tube. I used it basically twice a day every single day for a year after cleansing and any serums/other treatments. If my face is still soaking wet from The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution or applying way too much serums or other treatments, the Natural Moisturizing Factor has trouble soaking in and takes an extra minute or so to absorb, but that's user error rather than a product malfunction. Sometimes, when I didn't have any of my Cerave Moisturizing Cream (the only body lotion that I'm not allergic to), I would use the Natural Moisturizing Factors instead and it also worked well as a light body moisturizer.
This product did not make any dramatic changes to my skin besides keeping it healthy and hydrated every day, which I consider a plus. It's the most simple, straight-forward product ever. The only problem I can imagine anyone possibly having is wanting more hydration for dry skin, and Natural Moisturizing Factors mixes and/or layers well with argan oil and squalane oil that I've used it with. There are no active ingredients in it so I don't have to worry about it contradicting or reacting negatively with any serums or treatments I use. It absorbs in less than a minute and truly feels like my skin is naturally moisturized, I can't even tell that there was a lotion on my skin. It doesn't make my face look or feel greasy, even though I have extremely oily skin (if I'm not wearing makeup my t-zone will start to look oily around 5-8 hours after applying, but that's totally natural for my skin).
It wears perfectly under makeup and doesn't cause any pilling or textural problems under any types of primers, powder, cream, stick foundation, or liquid foundation I've used. I would buy this again and again, and give it 10 stars if I could.
Most Helpful Critical Review Not elegant to apply but good for the price
This is one of the weirdest moisturizers I have ever used. My first 2-3 uses/impressions I absolutely hated it. I am still undecided on it but I have used it about 6 times so far and I decided that I don't hate it- I just have figured out what I like about it and how to use it more effectively. First of all, I think this definitely applies better on slightly damp skin. This product is not the most elegant in terms of application- it has a streakiness and opacity to it when you first start rubbing it in- similar to a sunscreen. You have to continue rubbing and rubbing and eventually it diffuses into the skin.
What I love about this moisturizer is that once you get it worked into the skin and once it dries, it literally looks like you have NOTHING on your face. No shine, no dewiness, no glow- just a satin healthy looking skin look. I absolutely love that about it. I do agree with some of the other reviews that this has a somewhat waxy sit-on-top-of-your-skin type of feel to it. BUT, remember that this moisturizer is really meant to be a supplement for the lipids in our skin. You can apply this first and apply another one of your favorite moisturizers on top- or even mix them. I prefer to mix (I've mixed it 50/50 with CeraVe PM and it works really well) since it makes the application more elegant and reduces the white cast/streakyness.
I like using this moisturizer when my skin is compromised, when I've overdone it on Tretionin, or when my skin is in the recovery stages of a Tret application. My skin becomes sensitive and stings easy the few days following Tret. I like to apply more nourishing, lipid/cholesterol/fatty acid (linoleic) based moisturizers like this one when I'm trying to recover my skin. Think of this as a skin supplement. Is this the most elegant moisturizer out there? No. But... seriously, you HAVE to remember the price here. This is INSANELY inexpensive. You are getting a TON of good ingredients for a very low low price.

I'm used to my skin feeling a bit...slick after using a moisturizer. This one feels like I didn't put anything on. But after several days of use, I'm experiencing far less "tight" skin and my skin feels much happier over all.

This is the last step in my skin care. My skin is much less dry. It seems thick which I like but goes on dewy and light.
You're doing it WRONG

I feel like so many folks are disappointed because they are not seeing that these products are meant to be layered. First your serums - I choose hyaluronic acid and buffet serums and sometimes caffeine under my eyes. Then you can follow with one of their oils or the vitamin c cream they offer (which is my personal fav. Lastly , you layer this on to seal all of it in and protect tote skin barrier . Ask a dermatologist. I'm right about this. And if you try it this way … guess what ??? ITS A WONDERFUL RESULT AND THE CREAM DOES EXACTLY WHAT IS PROMISED!!!! If you're really into skin care like I am , you read the ingredients on everything. The higher up on the list an ingredient is, the more of it is actually in that product . Whereas most companies promise a whole bunch of active ingredients and really deliver a lot of dimethicone and other fillers … and charge you huge amounts of money for it (since the human mind is programmed to think "oh it's expensive it must work better"), these folks deliver in spades exactly what is promised AND no fillers or fragrance. You're welcome. And no , I am not paid in any way by them or sponsored. Just an every day consumer with a little education in skin care

Not a fan of the texture of this moisturizer. I find that it's very thick and difficult to blend out, even if I don't use a lot. I think I'm going to have to mix it with an oil to make blending easier. The ingredients aren't super impressive either. I think there are other affordable options out there with better ingredients and an easier-to-work-with texture. I'll finish up the squeeze tube I have, but I really doubt I'll repurchase it.
Soft smooth skin!

I have been using this moisturizer morning and night for a week now. A small amount goes a long way, it sinks in quickly and goes on very smooth. My skin in immediately feels moisturized in smooth. In the morning or even after washing my face in the evening before applying anything is soft and hydrated.

I have had a very difficult time finding a moisturizer that does not negatively affect my skin, and this works perfectly for normal skin.
Not for me
Peke Mom from California
I have older somewhat dry sensitive skin. From me this just didn't seem to work. No matter how much or how little I used, on damp skin or dry. It just did not sink it, instead leaving a white film.

This product is awesome. It is so light and moisturizing. One of the best moisturizers I have used.
Can be moisturizing in larger amounts but not a night cream
Ally from New Jersey
I picked this up a few days ago so I can't say much yet, but this is an interesting product. I am acne prone and I have tried ceravae, vanicream, cetaphil and cosrx. I don't think honk Cetaphil broke me out but it was oily. I want to say that if you have dry flakey skin this won't cut it. I used a thick nighttime cream in my dry areas night and day for that (DHC nighttime moisture is good, but all over your face it can caused some acne if applied too thickly). So I was on the hunt for a gentle daytime lotion without fragrance. This product is strange because it's really thick and you'd think it be greasy and moisturizing when it goes on but it's not. If you have dry skin a pea sized amount won't cut it. It's kind of like cosrx snail cream, it feels moisturizing then it dries and nothing is done for your skin. However, when I apply over a pea size onto damp skin it is semi-moisturizing. I'm not sure if it's a HG yet but I'm thankful that it does something without breaking me out, because my night cream is too much for the day even in small amounts. If this doesn't work I heard Kiel's ultra facial lotion is good.
it is not worth the hype

it really did nothing to my skin… yes it is cheap but it is not really effective. It made my skin feel smooth but also tight and dry, so it is a no from me…. but again this might work for other people.
My whole family love this moisturizer!
BebeB from Arkansas
This moisturizer is my personal everyday, reliable and simple go-to! I love it becasue there is no fragrance added (the slighest smell comes from the natural scent of the ingredients and faded away completely), it is smooth and creamy with high spreadability but absorbs into the skin completely. There is no greasy feeling on the skin just softness. I use it but so does my son and husband and they love it too. I wish I could get it in a family size! As long as they make this, I will use it!

Just started using this a few months ago and now I can't live without it.
Great non greasy formula
Luna from California
I think this is a fantastic moisturizer, it's definitely a win for those who have oily skin. However, I can see this would be bad for those who have dry skin. I do have to rotate this with my Cerave moisturizer. I like to wear this under my makeup because it makes it not slide around since I'm a greasy gal.

After 30 plus years of doing without a moisturizer because they just laid there, I have found the "one". As a matter of fact I believe all the Ordinary products work well for me. It's like a skin reset. It keeps my skin at a noticeably renewed level. My personal expectations are met. As a wise woman, I'm not out there looking for a facelift in a tube and I know my skin will never look like a teen's, but Ordinary does a great job making me feel I have plump skin. It's happy skin for sure.

I use it day and night. First time I used it I saw immediate improvement in my skin
Ellyn from United States
It's not a bad moisturizer for if you wanted to use it as a primer. To me it just doesn't work as your everyday moisturizer, because my skin never felt like it was truly moisturized after I used it. I'd always have to reach for something more so my face wouldn't feel dry in the morning.
Best for oily skin
Yas from Charlotte NC
I used this and it left my dry skin even dryer. It left white marks on my skin. I could see how it would work for people who have oily skin, mine almost dried powdery.

I use this night and day under my sunscreen sometimes with other moisturizers and serums. It feels really nice and seems very soothing to my skin. I would absolutely repurchase.
not to heavy on my oily skin
nicole from California
what i like about this product is that it is not heavy for my oily skin but what i don't like about this product i get more black heads and white heads. will i buy again? maybe if i see better results without black/white heads
Not worth it for me

I tried it since I had heard good reviews and it was affordable but it broke me out. I tried it several times and every time I used it , it broke my skin out and I got tiny pimples. Will not use anymore
Affordable & Honest Skin Care Products!

This is my absolute favorite moisturizer. Not only is it affordable but I also know exactly what is in it. The Ordinary doesn't add any weird chemicals like most other skin care products. It keeps my skin feeling moisturized for a long time without it feeling oily.
Where's the moisture?!
Rio from Emerald Coast
I love this line, but this moisturizer ain't it. It goes on thick, but it dries down and literally DRIES OUT my face! I wake up with super tight dry skin. Certainly not for me.
Love the basics
Gentle and moisturizing from Us
I use this to end my routine. Squalane cleanser, buffet, vitamin C serum dabbed into it for day and over the lactic acid serum at night and I love it. It's not "too" moisturizing on its own but in combo with a good serum it's awesome. It doesn't break me out or make me sticky. But, it does have a weird smell to it that I don't really like but I just got used to it. Great for sensitive dry skin.
