Wonderful for thick course hair!

I get both the shampoo and conditioner for my partner who doesn't have a lot of hair, but has a VERY course/thick/curly beard. He doesn't know much about hair care and I have been teaching him the ways. As long as it works, he doesnt care about fragrance. This particular one smells strongly of lilac...s. I personally love it and as a fragrance sensitive lady, this one does not bother me at all. He works construction so I told him to wash his beard as little as he can stand it (1-2x a week) and rinse it the rest of the time or only use conditioner as a cowash if he really felt he needed a clean. Thick course hair is NOT meant to be washed often. Naturally, he had to figure that out himself and washed daily. After a week of daily washing his hair was falling out, matted, itchy and sooooo dry it was insane. He said he'd noticed it was feeling more dry so he used it more. I convinced him to go 3 days and THEN wash. It felt absolutely amazing aftwards and maintained that state until he washed again 3-4 days later. Washing too often with this will dry your hair and make it fall out because the more you wash, the more it strips. It's meant for dry course/thick hair BECAUSE the person using it maintains moisture for longer than the average person washing every day or every other day so it cleans a LOT to get the buildup off and then adds back in a ton of moisture to last until you wash again. If you don't have course thick hair, would not recommend this one as the oils alone would make your hair feel greasy and caked with product even though you just washed. I personally use the lighter blue joico Hydrasplash bottle and my hair is thick with a mix of fine/medium texture. It's also curly (2b/2c curls). It works wonderful for me and I wash 1-2x a week as well. I also have a sensitive scalp and too harsh of shampoos with fragrance will give me allergic reactions. My bottle smells floral but isn't too strong for me at all. One of the few brands where across the board, their product seems to work for what you need as long as you know what you're looking for.
