- Q
Would this brush work well for applying baked highlighter?
- Asked by Curious Makeup Consumer
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi! For baked highlighter we would recommend our Light Layer Highlight brush (item #2560738) if you're looking for a flat highlighter brush, or our Rebel Edge Medium Brush (item #2550664) which has a curved edge! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Would this brush work well for a pressed powder blush application?
- Asked by Dean
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageYes, for a more targeted blush placement you could use this brush. We would also recommend using the Real Techniques Blush Brush (Ulta item #2230002) or our Light Layer Blush brush (item #2560741) which features an angled head and has a lighter application! - Q
In the Q and A section, you refer several times to a buffing brush as being your favorite. Which brush are you referring to? I can't find "buffing " brush. Thanks
- Asked by Susan
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi there! I love that you are all about the product Q&A! That is so awesome! So, there are two kinds of brushes for buffing that we love here. The first is the Expert Face Brush (found here: https://www.ulta.com/expert-face-brush?productId=xlsImpprod4260015). This is one of our best selling brushes and is absolutely wonderful for buffing and blending. But the second one has become our best selling brush, even though it's still fairly new. It's the Blend+Blur foundation brush ... and It. Is. Amazing. It's found here: https://www.ulta.com/ulta/a/_/Ntt-Blend%20%2B%20Blur%20Foundation%20Brush?ciSelector=searchResults This brush is remarkable in how it works - the bristles are slightly denser, which is great for buffing, but also there's something in the way you hold the handle and how it contours to the angles of your face - it is just amazing. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Do you recommend this brush for applying and blending cream highlighter, or is there a better option?
- Asked by Susan
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi there, I think this would be a good choice for cream highlight. I would probably recommend applying it with the tip of the brush and blending in with more of the dense part. The other brush I would recommend, since I love the overall density of it, is our Blend+Blur Contour brush. I think the design of the brush head would work really well. You can find that here: https://www.ulta.com/blend-blur-contour-brush?productId=xlsImpprod16861017&sku=2518578&_requestid=253962 Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Does this brush work with loose powder highlighters?
- Asked by Jess
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Jess, This is such a perfect brush for loose powder highlighters! Actually, it's perfect with just about any highlighter, but I love it with my loose one since the brush head is small enough that you're not getting product everywhere, but just the right size to highlight. Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you

Can it be use as a highlighter brush
- Asked by Simmy

- Q
Would this brush be good for powder foundation?
- Asked by Cindy
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Cindy, This brush is awesome for loose powders that come in a smaller compact (like Smashbox's Perfecting Powder). But overall, for a "normal" sized compact and a lighter coverage, I really like our Powder Brush from Real Techniques (found here: http://www.ulta.com/powder-brush?productId=xlsImpprod3220077). For a fuller coverage, I LOVE our Retractable Kabuki, found here: http://www.ulta.com/retractable-kabuki-brush?productId=xlsImpprod6330143&sku=2269621&_requestid=9055965. The density of the bristles as well as the cut give amazing coverage! Thanks - hope that helps! Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can I use this as a contour brush? I have the sculpting brush but its too big and makes my contour look gross. I want the contour brush from real techniques but they only sell it in a set and I don't want the full set. So this is the next brush I saw that looks similar to that one.
- Asked by celine
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHI celine, If you are looking for a smaller brush head, this will definitely do it. In terms of contouring, the Setting Brush does not have the angle that some people like in terms of getting into the hollows of the cheekbones, but if you blend and apply precisely, you should be able to create a well-defined look with this. What is the highlighter called that the woman in the video used? I would like to get that highlighter and also this brush! Thanks!
- Asked by Renee
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Renee, It looks like she is using a highlighter from MAC, and I believe it's Mineralize Skin Finish. This video was shot several years ago, so we're not 100% sure of the shade. However, there are several wonderful highlighters on Ulta.com that would give you a similar look: http://www.ulta.com/shimmering-skin-perfector-pressed?productId=xlsImpprod10921068 http://www.ulta.com/pure-nude-highlighter?productId=xlsImpprod14401021 http://www.ulta.com/afterglow-8-hour-powder-highlighter?productId=xlsImpprod13971131 Thanks - hope that helps! Was this answer helpful to you

- Q
is this brush good for bronzer?
- Asked by T
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi T, Thanks for your question. I love the Setting brush for a lot of things: concealer, highlighter, blending out contour lines; however, I would probably recommend a different brush for bronzer. Because you want to create a more natural, sun-kissed look, I tend to think that larger brush heads covering a bigger area is the way to go. I love our Bold Metals Powder Brush for a bronzer and use mine every day (http://www.ulta.com/bold-metals-100-arched-powder-brush?productId=xlsImpprod11831007). I would also recommend our Real Techniques brush for a bronzer brush as well (http://www.ulta.com/powder-brush?productId=xlsImpprod3220077). Definitely something with a lot of bristles that are "fluffier" and less concentrated for bronzer. Thanks! Hope that helps! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Is this brush good for highlighter and does it pick up a lot of the highlighter product on the brush
- Asked by Yarely
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Yarely, Great question! This is one of our most multi-functional brushes and I, personally, don't know how I lived without it for all these years! :) One of the best uses for this brush is to apply highlighter when you are going for a highlight/contour look. Because of the way the bristles are cut, it doesn't pick up too much product overall. Additionally, because the bristles are synthetic (cruelty-free), it doesn't have the porous nature that real hair bristles do and you will find more product on your face, rather than staying in your brush. Overall, I think you would be really happy with this brush used for highlighting. Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Are the Real Techniques brushes synthetic?

I'm planning on purchasing the "sculpting brush" from Real Techniques to contour my face with bronzer. I was wondering whether the "sculpting brush" or this brush (setting brush) would work best to contour my nose, as well as blend? What would you recommend for contouring the nose with bronzer?
- Asked by Beauty love
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Beauty Love, That is such a great question! I had to stop and think for a moment because I love BOTH of those brushes so much! The Sculpting Brush is going to be much better for the larger areas of your face (cheeks, forehead, chin) where you want that contoured look. But, I think you will want a smaller brush head for contouring your nose and you will probably see better, more precise results with the Setting Brush. One other brush you might want to consider for contouring your nose is the Foundation Brush. It has angled bristles (like the Sculpting Brush), but is not quite as large. I think you would be happy with either the Setting of the Foundation brush - and please let us know how it works for you!!Was this answer helpful to you

setting brush
My new favorite brush for concealer underneath the eyes! The tip of the brush is shaped in a way that is perfect for getting into the inner corners of the eyes and blending out concealer. I plan on purchasing another one of these brushes! So soft, such great quality, amazing value for how much I've ...

Much smaller than anticipated
When I ordered this, I thought this brush would be comparable to the Contour brush in the Face Essentials set, however it is much smaller and flatter. The brush head is about the size of a nickle. Would make a good eyeshadow blending brush.

It works....but....
It works....but it can be a little stiff. Depending on how and what it's utilized for, this may not be for you. But I can always find a use for my brushes even if when purchased, that they're not for the intended target. Would still recommend.
Perfect for setting under eyes
I know this is a highlight brush but it actualy works better for setting the under eyes with powder. Its tapered and flat on both sides.
Does it all
I can use this brush for everything. It applies a thin, natural layer of foundation and then works perfectly for setting powder and any other step I want to use it for. I like the smaller size of this brush as it gives me control and the density is perfect. Love it and im buying more so i dont have to keep cleaning it in between steps.
Nice and soft
Very nice brush for the price. I use it to set my under eyes. Very soft and fluffy.
Nice product
Nice brush to set under eyes with. Works as described
