I got the "deep" set of these: p-INKED, HEY-zel, and cLOVER. I swatched them on my arm and tried them on my lips first. You can see both in the photos. All the colors go on looking like sticky black tar, and then they dry down (you can feel it), and then peel off pretty much in one piece. If any doe...sn't come off, you can take a damp paper towel and wipe the rest off.I like to experiment and do things my own way. For my lips, I covered the entire lip, not just a line on the outside, because I wanted the color everywhere. That definitely works, but be careful not to put it too far inside, because if it touches wetness it will bleed onto your teeth. However, I was able to wipe it away and it did not stain the teeth. No harm done. It did slightly stain my fingertip from touching it for only a few seconds, though! But the next time I was able to apply it without it bleeding inside my mouth. After peeling it off the lips, they felt a little dry (nothing unusual), and I applied lip balm, which made them look even more beautiful. I was able to wear lip balm throughout the day.Staying power: My arm swatches lasted all day and night, into the next morning, fading just a little. The lips were a much more high-traffic area. I used lip gloss, ate and drank. Around 6 hours after application (and eating), I looked in the mirror and saw that it was faded, but there was still some there and it looked good. Two hours after that, only the top edge of my upper lip remained. It had mostly rubbed off. But I don't mind that. Compared to lipstick or other lip products, I was able to eat, drink, apply lip balm, and kiss without having to think about my makeup. I love that. I'm actually not much of a lip makeup girl generally, but this might change that. And I don't mind a gentle fade. It never goes through a stage of looking weird. Just slowly rubs off.Now for the experimentation... I saw so much potential in these stains, I had to try using them in other ways that they weren't designed for. HEY-zel is not a bad contour color for me, and cLOVER is like a pretty lavender. I immediately thought of eyeshadow and contour. I did try both out. For eyeshadow, I covered my lid with HEY-zel, then added a line of cLOVER above it, being very careful to not get any on my eyelashes (I think wiping it off of them with a warm cloth would be fine, but I just didn't want to deal with that). Blinking normally would not really work for those 20 minutes. I had to lie back and have my eyes closed or very slightly open. Even so, my lid stuck to itself. I had to reapply where a little in the crease peeled off, and then I was more careful. When you're applying, the colors all look the same, so I was just praying I didn't do something really weird that would be hard to adjust. But when I finally peeled it off (and rubbed with damp paper towel) after 20 minutes, I was pleasantly surprised! I was worried it would leave a really harsh line, but it was more subtle and natural than I expected. With makeup, my philosophy is less is more, so I was happy with that, and in general I'm so pleased that these leave only color, no texture. I don't like the look of makeup sitting on skin. I also tried a cheekbone contour, but for that I really didn't want a harsh line, so, inspired by accidentally staining my finger when cleaning my teeth and inner lip, I decided to apply a tiny line of HEY-zel under my cheekbone, and gently wipe it off with a damp cloth almost immediately. Like 5-10 seconds. I wanted the wiping action to gently blend the edge. It actually worked pretty much as well as I imagined. I don't expect it to have as much staying power when wiped off like that, but it's still cool. I am an artist, work with paints a lot, so I think I have a pretty deft hand when it comes to working with liquids. I'm not saying it wouldn't be tricky to do these kinds of effects with this product, but for me, they're actually very intuitive to work with. I can see how with practice, I'd get even better at working with it and getting the looks I want. I'm even curious about mixing colors together. And layering. More possibilities for future experimentation. I love this kind of product: it just works how I wanted it to, it's versatile, and it gets me excited to play and create different effects.A general note: these work on clean, dry skin. All of these were done on bare skin, and I applied sunscreen, lip balm, and other makeup over them after. Also, the tubes are silver in case you care. Mine kind of looks gold in the picture, but it's just the lighting.
