Fatty alcohols, cetyl, cetearyl, behenyl and stearyl alcohols (to name a few), are solid at room temperature and are known for their skin conditioning properties and do not share any characteristics of ethyl alcohol. I have been using this cream since they first introduced it and never had issues with the smell of it. I bought two containers recently at the military base exchange and they have a horrible smell! I don't know what they did to their formula or if it is a bad batch, but they need to do a recall on these. The smell is awful and if it is a bad batch we as customers need to know what is going on.

I've used Clinique for 30 years and the last jar of this came with a very off chemical smell. Unfortunately it was the second jar I bought in that order so by the time I opened it, it had been longer than 30 days. After an hour on chat and a half hour on the phone they agreed to send me an email to initiate a refund. Now, 8 hours later no email. I've never been more disappointed in a company's customer service response.

I've used and loved this product for years. It was the only cream my sensitive skin tolerated. However, they must have recently changed the formula because it smells awful now. I thought it was just a fluke so bought it again and it has the same smell. It smells like you are putting mold all over your face. So disappointed in Clinique
