 Color Depositing Gloss Mask

My hands are blue, my shower is blue, my hairbrush is irrevocably blue, my hair is SOMEHOW NOT BLUE. First of all, this was shelved confusingly next to color depositing conditioner like keracolor, which is so consistent but subtle and builds color over time, and hair glosses which are definitely not pigmented the way this is. It probably should have said on the packaging that this is straight up dye and not just a gloss or conditioner. Secondly, the instructions are woefully inadequate. They don't tell you really any information - at the very least there could have been a note to wear gloves and keep away from hairline! I applied to clean wet hair after shampoo and before conditioner intending to leave it in for 5 minutes to get a "sheen of color" like the package instructions indicated. I wound up leaving it in for 7 minutes, brushing it through for even application (the way I would do any hair mask for my curly hair). The issue is 5 minutes is just not enough time to evenly apply and remove the cream. Also, in that two minute difference, the first sections turned jet black while the last sections barely changed color at all. I finished my routine as normal and it turned my towel blue. Luckily I was by this point expecting this, so I just used an older one. Now that I'm out of the shower I was able to scrub lots of the pigment from my hands. Think Nightmare Before Christmas Sally blue as opposed to my initial Sesame Street Cookie Monster BLUE. The bad news is, every time my hands get wet, the blue runs everywhere. I can't even drink a cold glass of water in peace - once the condensation hits my fingers, it's ridiculous blue fingerprints everywhere. I'm dreading putting my head on my pillow tonight. I'm not sitting on any cloth-bound furniture. I'm wearing my darkest blue shirt, but I'm worried it'll show the stain when I take it off tonight. Honestly I'm just sad. It seems like a good product if you know what you're getting into. All of this could have been solved with better instructions, which I've now come to understand are available online! Could have just written on the package "view our website for full tutorial and instructions!" I would have had such a different experience. What on earth!

I've tried many color depositing masks and similar products and this missed the mark. Pros are the scent and that it gave a good gloss. As for cons: I section and massage into each part very well but it came out so splotchy. It also took soooo much product because of how little color it was depositing.

I started with a faded orangey-brown hair and was hoping to achieve a rich burgundy shade. I applied this mask to dry hair and left it on for about 25 minutes, and it turned out exactly the color I wanted! It was easy to apply, worked really well, and left my hair looking great. I definitely recommend wearing gloves, using a plastic cape and shower cap, and covering your sink or countertop with plastic because it can stain. Other than that, it was super easy to use, and I'd absolutely recommend it! I was worried that it might stain my tub but it did not!
