Q
Can I mix vitamin c powder into this? (Not the whole bottle lol, i mix before each application.)
Asked by Stacey
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Thanks so much for checking. We generally don’t recommend mixing like this. Our ceramide barrier serum is carefully formulated to support your skin barrier at a specific pH and balance. Adding pure vitamin C powder (which is quite acidic) can shift that balance, potentially making the formula less effective and more irritating—especially if your skin is sensitive. If you’d like to use vitamin C, the best approach is to apply it separately (either as a pre-formulated vitamin C serum or mixed with a product designed to handle actives), then follow with the ceramide barrier serum to help support your skin. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can I use this with a peptide serum and in which order? Thank you!
Asked by NYC 212 girl
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! We recommend applying our ceramide barrier serum as the last serum in your routine. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this fungal acne safe?
Asked by Punpun
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! The FDA considers fungal acne to be a medical condition, so I can't give product or ingredient recommendations specifically for that. We recommend seeing a dermatologist for fungal acne as none of our products are formulated to treat it. Our ceramide barrier serum is suitable for all skin types, including breakout-prone skin. It supports skin’s natural ceramide production and provides deep hydration. We also recommend the postbiotic acne serum. It treats and prevents acne, blackheads, and clogged pores. It also hydrates and supports skin barrier. You can use both serums together although it isn’t necessary. If you would like to use both serums at the same time, we recommend applying the acne serum first because it’s lighter than the ceramide serum. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Should I use this on dry or damp skin?
Asked by emcdona7
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! You can apply our ceramide barrier serum on either dry or damp skin, but we do recommend allowing to dry for 1-2 minutes in between application of your products in your routine. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this safe to use under the cocokind retinol?
Asked by b
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Our ceramide barrier serum is an excellent product to pair with our beginner retinol gel in your nighttime routine, providing hydration and barrier support through the ceramide serum. We recommend applying retinol before serum, but if you’re super concerned about irritation, you can apply retinol after the ceramide barrier serum to act as a buffer between your skin and the retinol. Follow up with daily SPF during the day to avoid sun sensitivity. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
is this safe to use on a low dose of iso tret?
Asked by izzy
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! The ceramide barrier serum was formulated to be gentle yet effective for all skin types, and can be used with other products containing active ingredients. We still always recommend a patch test to confirm compatibility because everyone has unique skin and concerns. Was this answer helpful to you

Q
Is the gluconolactone used as an exfoliant in this?
Asked by Lauren
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Gluconolactone is a very gentle exfoliant that’s a polyhydroxy acid (PHA). PHA’s are related to AHA’s and are often referred to as new generation AHAs. Besides providing mild exfoliation, it’s also a humectant and offers antioxidant properties. It can improve barrier function and boost the efficacy of other ingredients. It’s a great option for those with very sensitive skin who are unable to tolerate more common exfoliants like glycolic (AHA) or salicylic acid (BHA).Was this answer helpful to you
Q
If using with a retinoid cream, should this serum come before or after the retinoid?
Asked by Mac
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! You can apply the ceramide barrier serum after retinoid. Let the retinoid dry down before proceeding with any subsequent steps, such as serums and moisturizer. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this similar to the drunk elephant intensive hydration serum?
Asked by Similar
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Unfortunately we cannot advise on comparisons between our products and those from other brands - sorry about that! That being said, our ceramide barrier serum is a universal hydration and skin barrier support serum formulated to lock in moisture, protect against dryness, and calm the appearance of irritation. It's dermatologist tested and designed for sensitive skin. We hope you give it a try!Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can I use this product with Perioral dermatitis or will it cause more inflammation?
Asked by Hopeful
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Unfortunately, we don't have products specifically targeting treatment of Perioral dermatitis. Using lightweight unscented products would reduce the potential of triggering Perioral dermatitis so because of that we recommend using our electrolyte water cream! Was this answer helpful to you
Q

Asked by Anna
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! The ceramide barrier serum is sensitive skin-friendly and is suitable for daily use in the AM and/or PM. We recommend listening to your skin and adjusting as needed because everyone’s skin is unique. Was this answer helpful to you

Q
Would I use this product after other serums?
Asked by Courtney
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage

Q
Does this product have an expiration date or is it good forever like Vaseline
Asked by Nikki
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! In general, our products have shelf lives of about 12 months after opening and 2 years unopened. On the bottom of every product box, we list a POA (period after opening) symbol. It should look like a little open jar with a number and the letter M (months). This will help you determine how long each product is good for after opening. Storing them in a cool, dry place, tightly closing the lid, and using clean hands to obtain the product, always helps maintain the integrity of the shelf life. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this product non-comedogenic?
Asked by JJ
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Our ceramide barrier serum is formulated for all skin types, including sensitive and breakout-prone skin! There is actually no FDA regulation for the term “comedogenic." In fact, there are no standardized tests that can accurately determine if an ingredient will or will not clog your pores or cause breakouts. Skin health is completely individual and dependent on genetics and lifestyle choices, including skincare! Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can i use this after i apply Glow Recipe PHA+BPA Toner?
Asked by Bri
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage

Q
Is this product more oil based or water based so i can i use this more as a oil or a serum
Asked by Nat

Q
I love this product and have been using it to help repair my skin barrier. My question is, how long do I use it for before I know my barrier has healed? Do I stop using it at any point? Or do I make this a part of my permanent routine? Thank you!
Asked by brighteyedgirl
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! You can make the ceramide barrier serum a permanent part of your skin care routine. Anyone can use this serum although ceramides are especially beneficial to those with a compromised barrier from things like exposure to extreme environments (hot/cold), over exfoliation, irritation, or sun damage. Additionally, around the age of 30, the extracellular matrix composition naturally changes and produces a lower percentage of ceramides, cholesterol, and free fatty acids. As a result the skin barrier is weakened and more prone to dryness and irritation. A ceramide product, like our ceramide barrier serum, can help replenish those ceramides. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can I use this with the Cocokind Postbiotic Acne Serum? And if so, which should I use first? Thanks!
Asked by Ash
Official Answer By cocokind - Brand Engage
Hi! Yes, you can use the ceramide barrier serum with the postbiotic acne serum although it isn’t necessary. We recommend purchasing the serum that best matches your biggest skin concern - acne or barrier support. If you would like to use both serums at the same time, we recommend applying the acne serum first because it’s lighter than the ceramide serum. Was this answer helpful to you

Just Okay

I've been using this product regularly (at night I'm about 2/3 through my bottle) and follow the instructions. I use the raspberry toner (which is amazing for breakouts btw!), let it dry a tad and then apply the ceramide barrier serum followed by the polypetide moisturizer. I honestly haven't notice...

I've been through many rounds of medical treated skin problems since I was 19 years old. This serum is PERFECT for phases of a broken skin barrier. If you're confused about the purpose of this serum, it helps to nourish and restore the barrier back to its natural form: healthy. It helps my skin feel calm and hydrated. However, I do recommend getting a separate serum for hydration IF you have chronically dry skin like me. I do not primarily use this for hydration purposes, but I do think this would work great for people who have a normal to slightly dry complexion.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Caused me to have painful acne after using it a couple times. I then retried it and got the same result. Then passed it onto my sister and after her first use it turned her face immediately red with a hot burning sensation.

Caused Burning and Ruined My Progress

Submitted 17 days ago

I thought because it was advertised as great for sensitive skin that i would give it a try. I am fair skin, have rosacea and am incredibly sensitive to a lot of products. And unfortunately, this is now one of them. I tested it and within seconds, my face thrned bright red/pink and felt like it was melting off. Please be careful if you decide to purchase. I understand everyones skin reacta different, but if you have been struggling to make progress with getting clear skin and deal with something like this, you'd understand why Im so disappointed. It set me back and made all the progress I had made just useless.

This was my holy grail, probably my 8th bottle by now. I took a break trying corex peptide serum which was not as good as this serum so went back to it. I was excited to get my skin back to that plumb moisturizer look this had always provided. I do have sensitive ance prone, dry skin, but I never had this serum burn, tingle, & leave red blotches before. After reading other recent bad reviews saying the same thing, had to share my disappointment as well. Cocokind is usually great & affordable but now I'll probably have to spend double on a similar product without the bad reaction. I thought my skin was the issue but my skin reacts fine with my other products so my skin barrier can't be messed up. Loving the corex mask! Def helped while not having a regular moisturizer.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

My face and neck have been freaking out lately due to histamine reactions and I've been trying so many different products to try to get my skin to heal. This is so incredibly so soothing on my face, just brings instant relief and I don't know if it was coincidence or what but the next day my skin looked a lot better! I am really impressed!
