Hi, I am currently using the glycolic acid 7% exfoliating toner and the alpha arbutin 2% + HA for my acne and pigmentation. However, it has begun to darken my face. What product would you recommend that can be used alongside to brighten my face?
- Asked by Uwa
- Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand EngageHi there! Please be sure to use SPF during the day like our UV Filters SPF 45 Serum with exfoliating acids like Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner as they can increase sensitivity to the sun, possibly leading to darkening. These products should both brighten the skin. You may wish to also explore Multi-Antioxidant Radiance Serum. We hope this helps! Was this answer helpful to you

This stuff has saved my skin
I was suffering from bad hormonal acne on my chin. I went to a dermatologist and she put me on antibiotics for three months and prescribed very agressive creams. I tried it for three months but my acne got worse. I still had the Azelaic Acid Suspension laying around and decided to give it a go, in o...

Received oxidized serum
This was my first time ordering and sadly I received an already oxidized serum which is supposed to be unoppened, most probably it's a batch that is expired as the website states unoppened products have 3 years shelf life. I wish they made bigger tubes.
Tube hardly has anything in it.
Reduced my rosacea significantly!
Ive had rosacea for 15 years. Ive never had any product actually work in reducing it until this one! After about a month of using it, my redness is almost completely gone. My large pores on my cheeks look much better as well.
Works Well, Second Time Purchasing
Effective and gentle on my sensitive skin. My fair, freckled complexion is noticeably brighter, spots and freckles are significantly faded. I use daily in combination with the Ordinary Cold Pressed Rose Hip Oil, Moisturizer and Glycolic Acid toner.
tiny red bumps and rash, itchy
Was looking forward to addressing acne scars and hyperpigmentation. I was only able to use the product twice before my skin completely rejected it. I did see a brightening and tightening effect, but that didn't matter because it caused tiny red bumps to appear and an itchy, painful rash. I had to wash it off and hoping the rash doesn't scar. Clearly, I'm allergic to one of the ingredients. Still open to cautiously trying products from this brand.
Soft and Smooth Face
I have rosacea and hear good things about azelaic acid for redness. I couldn't tell with the redness since my face is tan but my face felt so soft and smooth
