- Q
Are the pads not rechargable why do they time out and need to be replaced. Is it better to get a tens unit for pain? How long do they actually last if you use them all day?
- Asked by JJ
- Official Answer By Vush Stimulation - Brand EngageThe Aura replacement pads themselves are not rechargeable. The rechargeable component is the Aura device, while the pads are medical-grade gel electrode pads designed to deliver the TENS stimulation safely and effectively to the skin. Why do the pads “time out” and need replacing? Over time, the gel on the pads naturally dries out and loses adhesion, especially with frequent or extended use. Once the pad no longer makes full contact with the skin, the device may reduce or stop stimulation as a safety measure. This isn’t a fault — it’s designed to prevent inconsistent or uncomfortable output. How long do the pads actually last? On average, each set of pads lasts around 2–5 uses, depending on: Length of each session Skin prep (clean, dry skin with no lotions/oils lasts longer) Storage (keeping the protective film on between uses) If you’re using Aura all day or for extended sessions, pads will wear out faster and will need to be replaced more frequently. Is it better to get a traditional TENS unit for pain? Aura is a TENS unit — it’s just designed to be portable, discreet, and simple, with built-in safety features and pre-set modes. Larger clinical TENS units often use wired pads that can last longer, but they’re less convenient for everyday or on-the-go use. Aura is ideal for regular, targeted pain relief, especially for cramps and muscle pain. If you’re finding yourself needing constant, all-day stimulation, replacing pads more often is expected — and having a few extra sets on hand usually makes the experience much smoother. Was this answer helpful to you
