Q
What was the reason for Mad Hippie to add Sweet Orange Oil in this Antioxidant Facial Oil? Which could cause photosensitivity in some people. So, why risk that possibility for some people just to have the product smell citrusy when it could have been left out. Thank you
Asked by Mar
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
We add just a hint of steam-distilled sweet orange or lime essential oils to some of our products for their natural antimicrobial benefits. We only use steam-distilled oils as this careful process removes bergapten, a sensitizing component of some essential oils. The natural scent fades quickly, ensuring you enjoy all the skin-loving benefits without overpowering your senses. Was this answer helpful to you
Q
I've read that you can mix the Antioxidant oil with the Vit C serum. However, Vit C is my first step after cleansing so I can't mix it correct? I use a moisturizer last so do I mix with that?
Asked by Donna
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! If you are only using the Vitamin C Serum and Antioxidant Facial Oil, you can mix 2-3 drops of each in the palm of your hand, and then massage that blend into skin on your face and neck. If you also use a cream moisturizer, then the order of application would be Vitamin C Serum, moisturizer, Antioxidant Facial Oil. Please let us know of we can assist further. :)Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is this good for gua shua?
Asked by Ella
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! Our Antioxidant Facial Oil would be a good option for facial massage or gua sha (both tend to work better with products that have some slip to them to prevent stretching or pulling the skin). You could also try a blend of Vitamin C Serum with the Antioxidant Facial Oil as part of your morning routine. Please let us know if we can assist further. :)Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Hi there! Can the Mad Hippie Antioxidant oil be used as a serum? Can I apply this oil followed by a moisturizer? Thanks
Asked by Briggy
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! Skincare products should be applied from thinnest in consistency to thickest, with water-based products going on the skin before oil-based products. This helps ensure maximum efficacy and absorption of the products you use in your routines. Since our Antioxidant Facial Oil is oil-based, it should be applied as the last step in your routine (creams first, than oils). Please let us know if we can assist further. ):Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Hi there! I have maturing skin that is dehydrated on forehead but also prone to hormonal chin and jaw breakouts. Would the Mad Hippie Antioxidant oil act as my moisturizer providing enough hydration? In the AM would I use it with the Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum, followed by an SPF? Or would I need an additional cream moisturizer? Would it be the same for PM? Many thanks! Many thanks!
Asked by Briggy
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! The Antioxidant Facial Oil is a non-comedogenic, hydrating blend of pomegranate seed oil and argan oil as well as lots of antioxidants and can be used as a stand alone moisturizer. You can also mix 2-4 drops with an equal amount of Vitamin C Serum in the palm of your hand and apply in one easy step for a boost in antioxidants and moisture - you can then follow with SPF. It can be used AM or PM. If you decide to use it with a cream, apply the cream first and then follow with the Antioxidant Facial Oil. Since everyone's skin is different, it may take a bit of experimenting to figure out what works best for your skin. Please let us know if we can assist further. :)Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Does this help with little blackheads on the nose and clogged pores on the chin?
Asked by Ahhvie
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! The Antioxidant Facial Oil is formulated to hydrate skin. For blackheads and clogged pores, we recommend the Vitamin C Serum, AHA Exfoliating Peel, MicroDermabrasion Facial, and/or Blemish Cream. Please let us know if we can assist further. :)Was this answer helpful to you
Q
I have used this oil a few times now. Every time I put it on it feels very warm on my skin. It's a bit uncomfortable. Is this typical or could I be sensitive to it?
Asked by Ree
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! The Antioxidant Facial Oil contains a non-comedogenic blend of argan oil, pomegranate seed oil, and lots of antioxidants like camu camu and sea buckthorn. It is wonderful for keeping skin hydrated and is very gentle on sensitive and irritated skin. If your skin feels warm/uncomfortable after applying, it may indicate an allergy or sensitivity to an ingredient, in which case, we recommend discontinuing use. Please let us know if we can assist further! Was this answer helpful to you
Q
This is currently the only mad hippie product I use, and so I've been applying between moisturizer and spf in the am and after my moisturizer in the pm. Is that correct or should I apply prior to moisturizer? TIA!
Asked by kait
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! That is correct! Typically, skincare products should be applied from thinnest in consistency to thickest, with water-based products going on before oil-based. Mineral-based SPFs should be the very last step in a routine to ensure a physical barrier is left on the skin to protect from sun damage. Please let us know if we can assist further. :)Was this answer helpful to you

Q
Does this oil have any exfoliating ingredients?
Asked by Edith
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! The Antioxidant Facial Oil is not an exfoliant. It is a non-comedogenic, hydrating blend of pomegranate seed oil and argan oil as well as lots of antioxidants and can be used as a stand alone moisturizer. You can also mix 2-4 drops with an equal amount of Vitamin C Serum in the palm of your hand and apply in one easy step for a boost in antioxidants and moisture! Q
If I live in a place with very strong sun (close to the equator), is it OK to use the Vitamin A or Exfoliating Serum at night?
Asked by Alexis
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! The Vitamin A Serum and AHA Exfoliating Peel are both intended for nighttime use. Because vitamin A is an ingredient that causes an increase in cell turnover and exposes new, fresh skin cells to the surface which are more susceptible to damage, caution must be used when using this and any other exfoliant (scrubs, alpha hydroxy acids, or even a Clarisonic brush should all be used with the knowledge that you have to increase sunscreen use while using these products). Q
Is this product safe for acne prone(not active acne) skin?

It is wonderful for keeping skin hydrated and is formulated for all skin types. Please let us know if we can assist further! Was this answer helpful to you

Q
I recently started using retinaldehyde. I used retinol for years with no issues. But my skin was getting dryer as I get older, and retinol was doing squat. My skin was getting dryer before I started the retinaldehyde, and I used small amounts to get my skin accustomed to it. So I did it right. But my skin still felt dry. So I added this antioxidant oil. I used it after toning and before the retinaldehyde product, because I never read directions. Now it seems like it should be the finisher. I think my biggest question is since it has vitamin a, is that going to cause a conflict between my Avene Physiolift? My routine is CeraVe hydrating cleanser, Neutrogena no alcohol toner, antioxidant oil, Avene, and CeraVe night moisturizer, and I have dry geezer skin with rosacea, no acne. And during cold snaps when my forehead feels like it's going to crack, I "slug" with CeraVe healing ointment — a very light coating.

Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! We recommend applying skincare products from thinnest in consistency to thickest, with water-based products going on before oil-based products. Our Antioxidant Facial Oil should be the last step in your routine with the products you mentioned. Just to note, we do not add vitamin A as a separate ingredient to the Antioxidant Facial Oil. There are lots of micronutrients and minerals in a few of the ingredients - for example, sea buckthorn berry - but they are not specific percentages since they are naturally occurring in the ingredient itself. You can layer our Antioxidant Facial Oil with your products. Please let us know if we can assist further! Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Hi, if I use the Mad Hippie vitamin A serum and the Mad Hippie antioxident oil afterward. Do I still need to put on another moisturizer?
Asked by Tish
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! We recommend applying skincare products from thinnest in consistency to thickest, with water-based products going on before oil-based. If you find that your skin feels dry after using the Vitamin A Serum and Antioxidant Facial Oil, you could apply a moisturizer in between: Vitamin A Serum + moisturizer + Antioxidant Facial Oil. Please let us know if we can assist further! Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Can I use this at night as my moisturizer and use my regular moisturizer in the morning? And if used only at night, will I get any of the benefits? I have oily/sensitive/acne prone skin. My routine is: Morning: cleanse, eye cream, vitamin C, moisturizer, SPF Night: cleanse, eye cream, retinoid cream, moisturizer
Asked by Holly
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! The Antioxidant Facial Oil is a blend of Argan oil, pomegranate seed oil, and lots of antioxidant power including sea buckthorn, camu camu, hemp seed, and more! It can be added to a morning or evening routine, but it should always be used on clean skin. It can be used as a stand-alone moisturizer. We also love the feel of the Vitamin C Serum with the Antioxidant Facial Oil in the morning and we often recommend it over nighttime treatments such as the Vitamin A Serum as well. Just to note, it is typically recommended that skin care products be applied from thinnest to thickest in consistency with water-based products going on before oil-based. We recommend applying our serums (Vitamin C, Vitamin A, or Exfoliating) after cleansing and then following with creams and then oils, rather than applying creams before serums, to ensure maximum efficacy and absorption. Please let us know if we can assist further! Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Is the vitamin C in this product pure, ethylated, or what (not sure of the options, I am looking to buy another product that recommends not using a pure or ethylated vitamin C on the same routine)?

Thanks for reaching out! Our Antioxidant Facial Oil does not contain vitamin C. Please let us know if we can assist further! Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Hi! I'm confused about the order to use this. I'm using the Mad Hippie Cream Cleaner, followed by this mixed with the Vitamin C serum, followed by Dermatologica Moisturizer, followed by sunscreen. Is that correct, or should the facial oil/serum be used after the moisturizer? Thank you!
Asked by Raquel
Official Answer By Mad Hippie
Thanks for reaching out! If you are mixing the Vitamin C Serum with the Antioxidant Facial Oil, you are using your products in the correct order. We recommend applying sunscreen as the last step in a skin care routine. Please let us know if we can assist further! Was this answer helpful to you
Q
Hello, I have purchased the antioxidant oil, vitamin c serum, vitamin a serum, triple c night cream and face cream. Would it make sense to mix the oil and vitamin c together and then layer cream on top? I have combination skin. I know it says oil last, but I have also read that mixing the oil with the c serum works well. Thank you!

We love the feel of the Vitamin C Serum with the Antioxidant Facial Oil in the morning (mix a dime-sized amount of serum with 2-4 drops of oil) and we often recommend it over nighttime treatments such as the Vitamin A Serum as well. When I first started to use this product I saw little bumps and my face itched. I tried multiple times wanting to like this product with no luck. These products from this company are terrible, save your money and buy something else. I have tried a few of there products wanting to like them with zero luck.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Smells wonderful. A little goes a long way, don't blow off excess, it will soak in overnight. My chapped forehead (winters are in the negative where I live) was supple the next two days after first use

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

The Best Oil!!

Submitted 7 months ago

By LeAnn

From Clemmons, NC

This oil is one of the best things I've ever put on my face. I usually stay away from oils because of my acne prone, sensitive skin, but I am so glad I took a chance on this. At 44, my skin is experiencing some changes with increased dryness being a big one. This product is moisturizing without being greasy. It's the first product of any type I can use on the skin under my eyes that actually keeps my makeup looking good there all day. I use it in the mornings and at night. I highly recommend this!!!
