I would not even consider this close to a lotion. It is watery with a little bit of thickness, but it is closer to an essence. It is somewhat moisturizing and leaves the skin a little tacky. Once you put a lotion over it, the tackiness is gone. For the price and benefits, I'll probably stick to Missha or SecretKey essence.

This product should be used like an "essence" pressed into the skin after cleansing. It will leave the skin tacky to the touch but really preps they skin your next step whether that be serum or moisturizer. It keep skin glowy & fresh! Home run for Clinique! You will love if you love moistures surge franchise or are looking for a hydrating toner/essence

After reading the product name I thought I'd be very clear in stating that this is an essence. Typically you would put this on after you cleanse and exfoliate but before you but on serums/moisturizer. IF YOU BUY THIS AND USE IT LIKE A MOISTURIZER THEN YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. The tacky feeling is so that way when you layer products on top it can help them absorb better into your skin. While the product itself is amazing and worthy of 5 stars, I'm not happy with how Clinique has been telling people how to use the product. Use it how I tell you to and you surely won't be disappointed if you're concerned with dryness or dehydration (especially dehydration).

I wanted to love this. I currently use Cerave PM for my morning and nighttime moisturizer (recommended by my Derm) and absolutely love it for face and hands! Cerave PM serum fully absorbs and doesn't leave a greasy or thick residue. With this Clinique Moisture surge, I feel like it layers on my skin, sits on top with a tacky feel that doesn't go away when it dries. Maybe had I not been used to the Cerave PM I wouldn't have noticed this tacky feel, but looks like I will save some money and stick with Cerave! I'm using up the rest of my Clinique Moisture Surge on my hands, because I don't want to throw it away, but honestly, can't wait until I can be done with it,
