Most Helpful Positive Review nice, thin liquid, easy to apply
I've been testing out sun protection products recently (mineral formulas only) and out of the few I've tried (Juice Beauty Oil Free SPF 30, Juice Beauty Stem CEllular CC w SPF, Stila BB SPF 30), I favor this one.
I don't like thick products that are hard to spread all over my face and this one isn't. It is thin and blends well and is easy to get your hole face covered to get adequate sun protection.
The tint is barely noticable once applied, but does give very minor color correction. Not as much as a tinted moisturizer would though. The color works for me and I'm fair.
I dont notice much of a smell with this product.
I was looking for a better rating on EWG Skin Deep's website, but for a mineral sunscreen that I like I suppose this will do.
There is one other product I did like when I tested in the store, but was too expensive to end up purchasing... Perricone MD Photo Plasma SPF 30. This felt so lightweight on my hand when I applied. If it weren't for the hefty price tag i would have liked to try it. There wasn't an EWG rating for it either, which concerned me.
Most Helpful Critical Review Wanted to love it, but not for me.
I really really wanted to like this product because I was looking for a new sunscreen to wear under my makeup. I read reviews saying that this does not leave a white cast, and also that it is mineral. It doesn't make it white, it does have a slight tint--kind of like the sheerest tinted moisturizer you could wear. That's fine, because I wear foundation over it. The smell is unpleasant, but I'm also sensitive to fragrances. It's very liquid-y, not thick at all and goes on well and sinks in. It's definitely NOT a matte finish on my combo skin. Weird smell aside, this just isn't working for me because I find it's really irritating to my sensitive skin--it stings whenever I apply it. I would recommend this to someone who doesn't have sensitive skin and doesn't mind products with strange smells.

I'm a Dermatology PA and have tried hundreds of sunscreens over the course of my career. The Anthelios Mineral 50 Tinted fluid is the one I personally use and recommend to my patients. This is a lightweight fluid, so it's not thick or greasy, perfect for acne prone, oily skin. Many of my male patients who hate using sunscreens have found they actually like this as well. The tint comes from an ingredient iron oxide which is important because it protects the skin against natural and infrared light which has been found to worsen hyperpigmentation. The color is very universal. I'm fair skin and it absorbs without changing the color of my skin. In fact, it gives my skin a nice glow without being shiny. I recommend applying this after moisturizer since this not a moisturizing sunscreen. I have tried all of La Roche-Posay's sunscreens (both American and European formulas) because I trust their scientific research and I always come back to using the Anthelios 50 Tinted formula.
If I had to make one recommendation to the product development department, I would also like to try a similar product with a small amount of zinc oxide added. Zinc has a slightly better UVA protection than titanium dioxide.
Excellent sunscreen, Worth every penny
anonymous from Indiana
Excellent sunscreen, very comfortable after application, moderately dry vs. moisturizing. It's "efficient" in that a small amount covers well and provides lasting protection. It has a slight tendency to appear white but rubs in easily. If that's an issue, I would recommend the tinted version which I have also tried and like very well. Male in my 50's in case that's useful info.
Gentle enough for sensitive skin
anonymous from Sam Francisco ca
Light texture but good coverage, gentle enough for sensitive skin
I would buy this product again.

I don't like heavy, thick foundation. This product is lightweight and blends well on my skin. Can be layered for more coverage if desired.
Love this sunscreen

This is a great mineral sunscreen. Wears nice and the tint does not leave any cast!
I Gave Bought This Again and Again

I love this stuff! I like getting it when it's on sale as it seems to be a little expensive. It's not oily and although it says matte on the bottle I find that it just blends into my face well. I like that it is a lotion so I have no pulling on my face while applying it. Any foundation covers the hint of white. I also recently have been putting it on later in the day and it seems to go right over my foundation. It has zinc and I was a little worried the zinc was not enough, but so far it seems to cover well from the sun!
Makes me look ghostly
Auss2347 from Chicago
I bought a couple products from here, and I'm extremely happy with all of them except this one. I like that it's matte, but it makes me look far too ghostly. I'm a darker, olive complexion, so maybe thats why? I would imagine if youre a light complexion this would work great. I just have warm undertones so anything "white" makes me look ghostly, ashy and washed out. If it weren't for that, I would actually love this product cause it's not like other sunscreens that leave you greasy
Pam0610 from Bay Village, Ohio
I like the coverage but it is too light for me. I look "ghosty". I will try wearing it in the winter when my skin is more pale?

It dries fast and has a good cover! Perfect to use before makeup.

Received this sample from my dermatologist and it went on my face white. When I rubbed it in further to rid the whiteness, my face turned violet. I actually looked like Violet from Willy Wonka.
Great tinted sun screen

I have been using 50 tinted mineral sunscreen for over two years. Great product. Doesn't leave you white and greasy. Never Brad's up. I put it on prior to sun exposure. I do tend to get it in my eyes when swimming. Would love if they made the tinted in spf 100 - please!!
Sandy F from Estero Florida
It's so nice to apply as it really is like milk. Even though it's light, I feel it gives me good protection from the sun.
ElleDC from Washington DC
This is the first mineral facial sunscreen that I ever tried - it was on the recommendation of a dermatologist. I tried some others for comparison, and I keep coming back to this one. It goes on easily and does not leave a white or gray cast to my skin. (I am a very fair-skinned white woman.) What more needs to be said? It is not too dry, not too oily. Just right!
valeriaprieto09 from El Paso Tx
i love finishing my morning routine with this product! i was just wondering if it's non comedogenic?!

Love this sunscreen, I've been looking for one that protects my skin, but also has a tint since I can't wear make up. I will definitely buy it again
MamaO from Roswell, GA
I love this product! Received a small sample with another purchase, and had to have the full size.
It's goes on a bit oily, but absorbs into your skin and just gives it a nice glow. Something like a bronzing lotion.
I'm using it instead of my usual tinted moisturizer. It has a subtle tan tint that I think would blend well with most complexion colors.
Really good tinted mineral sunscreen
Sarasnapp from Columbus,OH
I alternate between this one and the non-tinted mineral one from la roche-posay. I like them both. This one I find to be a tad less drying than the non-tinted. I am fair and I feel like this tint is slightly dark on me for winter but looks great in the summer. I don't wear this everyday but it is great on days when I have a little extra redness that I want minimized. This is not going to give you any coverage really, it just might minimize redness a bit. Overall really happy with all of la roche-posay sunscreens.
Drlexycat from San Diego
I wanted a tinted spf so I can use this on days I don't want to wear makeup but still want to conceal the redness on my face. I have combination olive toned skin, had history of acne so I have scars and my skin is sensitive. I have a little bit of redness around my nose only so I didn't think this Hope was too extreme. However, The tint is very light, blends in, can't even tell there is anything on my face, redness not concealed. It does protect me because I can tell when I don't have protection, my skin burns from the sun, especially if I sweat. So as a sunscreen, this is great, very lightweight yet effective protection, you get a lot for what you pay for. However because the tiny did nothing for me, I knocked off one star.
Left me looking ashen
AmyLand from undisclosed
It's not a bad product, it works as well as any other untinted mineral sunscreen, but I was hoping for magic, and it still left me looking pale and ashen. The tinted version is much better.
I've been loving this!
Btay from Colorado
I always try to have sunscreen on even if I'm not wearing my everyday makeup. This product is perfect for the days you don't want to wear foundation but still want minimal coverage. This product evens out my skin tone and hides minor imperfections while also providing SPF protection. I use when I will be outdoors hiking, fishing, biking etc. The product is a little watery and the bottle top gets a little messy but I'm not sure what other packaging would be more ideal since it is a lightweight liquid. I will keep purchasing!
No make up

I love it, you don't need a makeup base and protects your skin very well
A Winner from suncare experts.

This is the very best of tinted sunscreens. The best I have ever used, and I'm 75, LOL!
It goes on smoothly, the tint blends in perfectly, and I have fair skin.
You will never need a foundation with this. Oh those French, they've always known what they were doing!
My new go to
Nicole B from Virginia
This is the hands down best sunscreen for daily use I've come across. This lotion is so lightweight I have no problem layering it under my makeup and it provides amazing sun protection-I've had no problems with getting burned or even tanning. It does leave a very slight white cast, but that's pretty much unavoidable with mineral sunscreens.

I love this product!! Best product for my sensitive skin!!
I Will Keep Buying
Micki3 from Sacramento CA
I put on my daily creams and such and then this sunscreen. I don't like pulling on my face and find this liquid easy to apply and spread. The lotion doesn't build up heavily and so it's also lightweight, but protective. I apply my makeup after, and I don't have to build a lot of face makeup to get rid of the white. The lotion has a metal tiny ball inside so that when you shake the bottle it's mixing it well. So far I've worn it out to the ranch, walking, gardening, and my face at the end of the day has no sun spots or color which means to me it's protective. This is the 3rd time I've bought this. It doesn't quite last as long as others but by far I love this sunscreen!
