The New Oil-Control Sunscreen Feels More Like a Primer Than

I am deeply disappointed with the direction Shiseido has taken with its new Oil-Control SPF 40 sunscreen. The new formula appears to prioritize a primer-like finish over the lightweight, comfortable feel that made the original Oil-Free SPF 30 or 42 sunscreen so exceptional. For people with oily and sensitive skin, a heavy, primer-like coating is not necessarily an improvement. Many of us do not want our sunscreen to feel like makeup or create a layer on the skin. We simply want effective sun protection in a genuinely lightweight, oil-free formula that allows our skin to feel comfortable and look natural. A product that feels occlusive or sits heavily on the skin can be uncomfortable, and for some people, unsuitable formulations may contribute to clogged pores or breakouts. Excessive emphasis on a primer-like finish and oil control does not automatically make a sunscreen better for oily skin. The best sunscreen for oily skin is not necessarily the one that creates the strongest matte or primer-like effect. It is one that provides reliable sun protection while remaining lightweight, comfortable, and suitable for the skin. Please reconsider this reformulation and bring back the original Oil-Free SPF 30 or 42 formula. It had the kind of lightweight texture and finish that customers like me have struggled to find elsewhere. Please forward this feedback to your product development team. We are not asking for another primer disguised as a sunscreen. We are asking for the original sunscreen that worked so well for our skin. Please bring back the original formula.
Please Bring Back the Original Oil-Free Sunscreen Formula

After finally finding a sunscreen that truly worked for my skin, I was disappointed to learn that you have discontinued it and replaced it with a new Oil-Control formula. Is there anything more important than customer satisfaction? People with oily and sensitive skin do not necessarily need an Oil-Control sunscreen. Many of us simply need a genuinely lightweight, comfortable Oil-Free formula that leaves the skin looking fresh, clear, and natural — just like your previous sunscreen did. Finding the right sunscreen for oily, sensitive skin is incredibly difficult. The texture, weight, and finish are just as important as sun protection. I honestly do not understand why, when a formula finally works so well for customers, it gets discontinued or reformulated. This has happened to me repeatedly with other brands. Years ago, Guinot had an excellent sunscreen that worked beautifully for my skin. When it was discontinued, I stopped buying from the brand and switched to Eucerin's Mattifying sunscreen for sensitive skin. When that was discontinued, I moved to La Roche-Posay's sunscreen for oily skin, only to find that its formula was later changed as well. I eventually stopped using that brand, too. Now I am facing the same situation with Shiseido, a brand whose original Oil-Free Urban Environment sunscreen was one of the few products that genuinely worked for me. Please forward this feedback directly to your product development team. The most important factors for people with oily, sensitive skin are a lightweight texture and a comfortable, natural finish — not necessarily stronger oil control or a primer-like effect. Please do not respond with a simple apology. I am asking Shiseido to take this feedback seriously and communicate it to the people responsible for product development and reformulation. I sincerely hope you will consider bringing back the original formula, or at least offering it alongside the new version. Otherwise, I may have no choice but to stop purchasing Shiseido sunscreens as well. Losing loyal customers who have finally found a product that works for their skin should not be the price of reformulation. Please listen to the customers who loved the original product.
