The original (dark gray can) , also has time release fragrance to leave your hair smelling fresh throughout the day. ACDS has a few additional benefits. It has oil control for the scalp, shine as well as manageability. The fragrance is lighter. Best application is to shake can and section hair. Spray approximately six inches from scalp. I just love this stuff. I am newly postpartum and just so thankful for living proof dry shampoo haha. It came to the hospital with me, has been so great when I need a refresh in the middle of the night or during the day, etc etc etc!
