- Q
Should I use this product on damp hair before blow drying and on dry hair before flat ironing?
- Asked by Jesse
- Official Answer By Redken - BEHi there! Thank you for reaching out about our Thermal Spray High Hold. For our Thermal Spray High Hold, we recommend using it on dry hair before applying any heat with styling tools like flat irons or curling irons. This allows the heat-activated polymers to properly set and provide the best hold and protection. While it's generally best used on dry hair for flat ironing, for blow-drying, you would typically use a different type of heat protectant or styling product designed for damp hair. Our Thermal Spray High Hold is specifically formulated to create a barrier and lock in style when used on dry hair just before your heat styling tool. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Is this product safe for every day use, even if not actually putting heat to it? I have another heat protectant that I use every day even when I don't apply heat due to it being multi purposeful. Does that apply to this product as well?

- Q
What does the "hold" do? I have 4c hair and just looking for heat protection with a blow dryer. Does the hold make my hair sticky and /or hard?
- Asked by Liz
- Official Answer By Redken - BEHi there, thanks for your question. The hold in Redken Thermal Spray helps styles last longer. The hold might make your hair feel a bit sticky or hard if you use too much. We'd like to suggest Redken One United as another option which is suitable for all hair types and textures and protects against breakage, frizz, and preps hair for heat styling. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Do you have to wait for the heat protectant to dry before flat ironing?
- Asked by Amalia
- Official Answer By Redken - BEHi there, yes, when using Redken Thermal Spray it's important to let the product dry completely before using a hot styling tool. This also applies if your hair is wet or damp while using product. Was this answer helpful to you

super curls!
A good friend of mine who is also a hair stylist recommended this product to me because I would take the time to curl my hair and within 2 hours the curls are literally gone. She gave me some advice on how to use it and voila! first use and my curls stuck from morning to night, even the next day wh...

Not for Blow Outs, altho Ulta Salon recommended
I want to use hot rollers to set my naturally CURLY locks after blowing it out. I was looking for something to protect my hair from both blow dryer heat, AND hot roller heat. And THIS STICKY, ICKY PRODUCT was recommended by one of the women in the Salon--that's what they use. If this is what the...

Not worth it
Makes my hair super hard. Random spots of my hair sre super stiff and have to brush it out a lot. The smell is not pleasent either.
Holy grail product when used correctly
If your hair is sticky or crunchy you're not using it correctly. 1.) You can't spray your whole head at one time. You have to work in sections. You don't want the product to dry on your hair before you style. 2.) A little goes a LONG way. Just a light mist on each section. If you use too much it'll turn to cement. 3.) Use it on clean, dry, conditioned hair. (Not wet hair.) Bonus- if you need to recurl your hair, you don't have to reapply. 4.) Brush it out when you're done. It's a firm hold product. If you don't brush it out, you'll have hard barrel-like curls. If you use it this way, it's unmatched for heat curl hold. I've been heat curling my hair for 35 years (curling irons and hot rollers) and for the last 10 years, I keep coming back to this product (or its predecessor, Hot Sets).
It makes my hair hard
Hair Type Wavy Hair
Didn't like . It tangles my hair and leaves it hard
Longtime user
Hair Type Straight Hair
I've been using this (it was formerly Hot Sets) for several years and it is a staple in my hair styling routine. I have, however, noticed the current bottle seems weaker than usual. I hope this isn't the case going forward.
made my hair feel like straw
Hair Type Wavy Hair
I would say I didn't follow directions correctly, but there were none. Made my hair feel like straw. Returned
