I think there are two types of home teeth whitening products, using brush on material or whitening strips. Whitening strips are thin strips of material, that are soaked/coated in whitening chemicals. This product uses the whitening strip method.To facilitate and expedite the whitening process, this ...incorporates a blue light therapy mouthpiece. In fact, it's a rather formidable mouthpiece, with 28 blue LED bulbs. It does produce a rather strong blue light (see the attached photos to see a demonstration of the mouthpiece activated). The intensity of the blue light probably contributes to the relatively short treatment duration of 10 minutes. This duration is significantly shorter than many competing products, some require 20 - 30 minutes duration of light mouthpiece use per treatment session.The blue light is in the 466 -472nm wavelength range. This is excellent waterproofing for a device that goes in the mouth, and is always used near water. But, they do note that the power/charging station is not waterproof, and to exercise caution using it near water.It contains a battery rated at 400mAh. It takes 1.5 - 2 hours to fully charge a depleted battery. This offers 250 minutes of continuous operation. And, with only 10 minutes per session, that's a considerable number of uses per charge. And, it's a respectable charging:operating time ratio.MySmile has a number of dental products, including teeth whitening strips. And, it is reassuring to see that affordable consumables (like whitening gel and strips) are available from them, as well.Overall, the product does match the pictures and descriptions in the product details.
