Not what I expected

I really liked this product, but how it performed is not how I thought it would and not what I think most people would expect from a self-tanner. I find it more like the tanning version of a brightening serum or a hyperpigmentation neutralizer than a self-tanner. It made me a shade or two darker and... evened out my skin. I feel like when I think of self-tanner I think of product that can be natural to very intense. This product did not irritate my skin which was my main concern. I have acne prone combination skin and was looking for something that would not irritate my skin while also making me tanner. The foam of the technicolor didn't develop at all on my face or neck, so I tried this. I have not noticed any transferring, but it does have that self-tanner smell. I also do not like the bottle design. It is a very light tan. I am definitely tanner, but I don't think it is very buildable. With the foam being buildable I can use this to get more tan on my face but still be much lighter than my body if I did an intense tan on my body. If I do a natural tan (what I normally do, it matches). I was expecting a product that would be able to make my face and neck the same color as my body regardless of how much foam I used on my body. I think it looks best when it's left for 6+ hours, so not an express tan I think it looks best when I use this every other day or every third day. It does not last much long than that, though I would not expect or want a face tanner to be so strong it can last through several face washes and taking off makeup. It's just enough to add some color during the winter when I'm super pale or even out my skin in the summer. I like natural and most of the time I am not going for an intense tan with the foam or the serum. I just want to be the same color year-round, so it works for me but isn't really what I expected it to be. I thought it would be more like drops or sprays I've used that are very buildable and would be a less frequent application. This is better used as a routine maintenance product to keep your skin a consistent color than something that will make you look like you spent a week in the Bahamas.
