The paste is hard to get out of the jar when it's brand new. After a few uses, it gets easier. I had to use quite a bit to style my hair and keep them in place. It doesn't have a very strong smell so it works on everyone. The paste does keep my hair flexible, and not looking too stiff, like gel does. As someone with thick, often-unruly hair that still needs to look piece-y and textured, I've tried just about every paste, clay, and cream on the market. My journey led me to Bumble and bumble's Sumotech, and it has firmly earned a permanent spot in my arsenal. This isn't a product that adds volume or a high-shine finish; instead, it's a masterclass in control and matte texture. The thick, almost putty-like consistency is surprisingly lightweight once you warm it between your palms. It emulsifies into a dry, tacky paste that gives me unbelievable hold without any of the stiffness or crunchiness of a gel. I work it through my damp hair for overall control and definition, and then I run a tiny bit more through the ends once it's dry to really separate and piece everything out. The result is a perfectly imperfect, lived-in look that has a natural, matte finish—it truly looks like I just have great hair, not like I'm wearing product. The hold is strong enough to last all day through wind and general activity, yet it remains pliable and re-workable. The only caveat is that a little goes a very long way; using too much can make hair feel a bit tacky. But once you find your sweet spot, it's pure magic for creating modern, textured styles with a touchable, natural feel.

I personally love the smell of this product. I used it on my hair to make plaits to sleep in and stretch my hair out. When I usually do this, the plaits stick up and go in every direction but with this hair cream it helped somewhat keep them down. I have 4b/4c hair so it didn't work the best for me but if you have a looser hair texture, this should no doubt work for you, would recommend.
