Will this product get rid of my closed comedones AND get rid of my acne scars and hyperpigmentation? If so, is it gentle, and how long would it take?
- Asked by Betishu
- Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand EngageHi there! Mandelic Acid 10% + HA is one of our gentlest exfoliants. While regular, gentle exfoliation can support overall skin clarity, you may also wish to explore Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution. For concerns like hyperpigmentation or post-acne marks, Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA or Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner may be helpful options. Please note that exfoliants like Mandelic, Salicylic, and Glycolic acids should be used in separate routines to avoid over-exfoliation.Was this answer helpful to you

Is this product okay to use with a moisturizer with vitamin C in it?
- Asked by Q
- Official Answer By The Ordinary - Brand EngageHi there! Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to comment on the pairing of our products with those of other brands and/or prescription medications. We recommend consulting with your doctor/dermatologist, gradually incorporating one new product into your regimen at a time, and applying test patches first to see what works best for your skin. <3Was this answer helpful to you

Real Talk
Let's be honest about skin care products. None of them are the miracle cure they claim. But not all products are just snake oil either. I have the fortunate of having a friend who has a chemistry degree and worked at several cosmetic companies, including some with very expensive products. She has to...

They are almost there...but are missing the mark
This product does absolutely sit on top of the skin and does not absorb. I feel that most of the product ends up on my pillowcase. I feel "oily" after using it, and it still has not absorbed into my skin by the time I actually roll over and fall asleep, which is about 2 hours after I put it on. I...

Has made the biggest difference in my skin!
I've been using this for several years. It's been online–only that entire time and I hope there are no plans of discontinuing it because no other mandelic serum can hold a candle to the results. I see from this. Immediate effects are clumped, nourished, dewy skin and cumulative effects are a silky texture and gasps when I tell people my age. At this price point and with the quality ingredients, I will never be without. They recommend using it at night, but I do also sometimes lightly dot on wrinkled areas like between my eyebrows and around my mouth, and then apply my regular SPF foundation. When I apply at night and wear a heavy night cream over it, my skin is bouncy and glowing in the morning! I like that the acid is not so strong that it stings. So this is great for lots of skin types.
this works SO well for me
I've been on the search for a product that works well for my hormonal acne through pregnancy/breast feeding, and this is my absolute fav! Definitely works to combat my acne, while also soothing my sensitive skin. Previously I was using Vivant (was recommended by an esthetician to me) and it didn't work as well and was much more expensive.
Oily texture, unsure about results
I have been hearing lots of hype about mandelic acid and wanted to try it out. I am 36 with oily skin, occasional mild breakouts, and some fine lines. I was surprised by how greasy this product is, it is like a runny oil. I have only been using it a short time so I have not seen results yet. I will change to a different mandelic acid product eventually.
Relief of rough patches
I have used this product for years and i still love it. During any season its typical for me to get some dry spots on my face, whether is be from the sun, cold winter air or simply a manic day of picking pores. A good rub of this almost instantly removes my dead skin.
No changes so far
After regularly using it for a month, I have not noticed any changes/improvements. Not sure what a deal it is.
