Maybelline Lasting Fix Matte Setting Powder is now in shade brightening Banana for a soft focused effect.
This setting powder can be used alone or on top of makeup. To set: Swirl lightly over the face with a powder brush. To bake: Apply over concealer with brush, leave on for 5-10 minutes, brush off.

Honestly, where to begin with this amazing product?! I received this product complimentary in my Vox Box and I'm so glad I did or I probably would never have tried this product. I definitely hadn't heard of it before sampling it. Normally when a drugstore brand 1st launches a product I feel they can be riddled with problems but they got this one right on the 1st try. I want to quickly touch on other reviewers concerns. The main thing I saw was that this banana powder doesn't smell like bananas, that's like my last concern because I don't believe makeup should have a strong scent. Some of my higher end banana powders aren't really that scented. The product claims to set, illuminate, blur, bake, smoothes & mattifies with an undetectable finish. It claims it's a microfine translucent powder that creates a soft focus effect. I can vouch that this powder is very finely milled & when applied it makes your face feel like velvet and look softer, smoother & mattefied without a hard look like some mattifying makeup does. Like some reviewers said it's almost like a Snapchat filter. I used the powder to set a whole face of makeup, just concealer, and because I like the look so much sometimes I used it on just bare skin. Whatever makeup I set with a fluffy powder brush with a light hand without creasing, very little shine for long periods of the day (some reapplication), and no caking at application. When I used it on just my bare face it blurred, hid red areas, & reduced shine from my oily face for at least half of the day. A lot can come to the top quickly and that can get messy especially if it gets around the lid like other reviewers said. I did get way too much powder on a dry patch and it looked a bit drier but that was my bad. I did not get a white/yellow cast but if you used a really heavy hand I could see that happening just remember a little goes a long way. I'm super pale and cool toned & this powder is a great color match. When I used it to bake I used a wet beauty blender with good results. The crazy thing is I have reached for this powder over my high end banana powders since I got it. This formula would be amazing for a translucent setting powder by maybelline! To give you an idea of the size/mechanics of the container & product consistency I included a picture with the maybelline banana powder in the middle as compared to a high end banana powder (left) & my mini KVD translucent setting powder (right). Also 1 of the bottom to show the product claims.
I have oily skin so I was looking forward to trying a new powder! It comes in typical packaging and the inside has a few holes for the powder to come out. The container is short and made of plastic, nothing too fancy. I did find that powder is difficult to pour out and put back in if you gran too much.
As far as performance this isn't my favorite. Yes, it mattifies my makeup but a few hours the grease breaks through. The all day wear isn't there for me. I wish it smoothed and blurred better as well, and there are plenty of powders out there that do that. This powder just isn't refined enough.
It did set my makeup but the flashback was so bad
I wear a lot of sunscreen and a compact powder is difficult to use. This is the perfect powder to dust over setting sunscreen. I love it. Also reduces redness.
I prefer the fit me loose powder but this is okay too
I'm not a fair skin tone, I usually get Medium in most shades. But this shows up so intensely yellow under my eyes where I apply and it gobbles up product and makes it gummy and it's so gross. I've tried it with multiple concealers but it's definitely the powder. I don't know where these positive reviews came from…
Really like it blurs everything
