I love the idea of hair perfumes, as I have very long hair down to my hips and am a fan of always smelling good even if I'm just schlubbing around the house for the day. I went to Ulta to test these fragrances after hearing a lot about them, and was disappointed but encouraged to see that they were ...completely sold out except for ONE bottle of the Violet, which was the one I was most interested in. It's really hard to test a fragrance properly in a shop where many dozens of other scents are mingling in the air. It smelled okay when I tested it on my arm and then my hair; I was a little concerned about that notorious sharp, acrid "department store" smell so many perfumes can have, but I hoped it would fade after a half-hour or so, as many do. So, I took the plunge and bought it. The top notes of this fragrance are truly wonderful. They are delicate and floral and sweet and lovely. Unfortunately, the harsh chemical "department store" undertone of this fragrance obliterates the top notes, specifically because they are so delicate, and after that first half-hour or so you're left with nothing more than the department store acridity and now you have to wash your hair immediately - or at least I did - because you knew a migraine was coming on and your nose won't stop running like a firehose and youre sneezing your head off. I was super, super disappointed because the top notes are so beautiful, but I won't be purchasing this specific fragrance again. I did order Tart Cherry and Warm Sugar directly from the Kitsch website and I'm thrilled to report that those are hands-down the two best fragrances in this line, absolutely gorgeous, no chemical acridity, no department store stinky, no headaches, no allergy attacks. Just perfection. Go for those, and leave this one alone. I recommend Tart Cherry and Warm Sugar *very* highly. I do NOT recommend the violet fragrance. Very disappointing. I hope they reformulate it to get rid of that harsh undernote.
