Hold the brush horizontally. Press the inner curved side into the root of the lashes and pull upwards.
Use the outer-curved side and wiggle the bristles from side to side, base to tip, to separate, lift and define.
If desired, use the tip of the wand to coat lower lash line for precise application.

Okay but won't replace all other mascaras.
I liked this, but it's not going to be something I use all the time and dump all other mascaras for. It took a bit of skill to apply it on my lashes and still I struggled. The mascara is thick and unfortunately clogs the bristles a bit on the wand so it is tough to get the wand to separate my lashes...

Really Like This
I keep waiting for this mascara to do what all the others do after a bit. Smudge, flake, lose it's curling power, get clumpy, but it won't. It's beautiful. I have really nice looking lashes when I use this. You definitely notice them even with eyeshadow on, which a lot of other mascaras weren't delivering on. This might be the mascara for me. I can build up volume, my curl lasts all day, it doesn't smudge unless I'm completely barefaced and don't apply setting powder … even then, it smudges so little it barrly affacts how my mascara looks. That's a mascara miracle for me. I've even still had 3/4 of my bottom lash mascara after crying, and my top mascara wasnt all clumped up or damaged in any way. That never happens with a regular mascara. I've even cried off/smudged "waterproof" mascara before.
Fan for Life
Easy to apply, easy to remove once I get some warm water on my eyes, comes off clean. Doesn't flake off ever during the day. I will be a fan for many years

The Exagger-eyes Volume Mascara delivers on its promise of big, bold lashes without clumping or flaking. This mascara delivers fullness, length and curl without clumping. It is water resistant, not waterproof, so it won't run if you get splashed or laugh a few tears. It removes easily with eye makeup remover.
Great mascara
I have sparse and light eyelashes. I need a mascara that will really amp them up and this does it.
