Not a gel or strong hold
I have fine hair that really curls up and i like to get a good cast on wash day so my style holds for *hopefully* most of the week. I have found that curl custards work really great for me so i had high hopes for this product. Upon opening the jar i knew it was gonna be a flop, but i still gave it a chance. The consistency is so watery and offers absolutely no hold. Gives no cast upon drying the hair. I have used almost the entire tub hoping for a different result but no. I've tried it with different products, applying it in different ways, nothing helps. The only thing it does is MAYBE add a little moisture but i cant even really be sure about that. I DO like the flexi jelly that i got a sample of and will be using that.
I have purchased this product again and again.

I have fine , very curly, shoulder length hair, which becomes really tight curls and frizzy in the heat and humidity This soufflé keeps my hair from getting frizzy. I have used it for many years. It goes so well with anti frizzing cream from Curlsmith or Ouidad

My husband and I both use the Curl Defining Styling Soufflé. We are very disappointed with the new packaging. Sticking fingers in the jar is messy and distasteful.
New formula is awful

This used to be my go to gel. It gave me great definition, hold and didn't dry out my hair. Curlsmith changed the formula in early 2026 and the new formula is nothing like the previous one. It barely gives a cast, which would be okay if it had enough hold but it doesn't. My hair look okay (not great, just okay) for about one hour before it falls limp and just looks like weird slightly wavy strings. I'm so disappointed. This used to be such a great product.
