Most Helpful Positive Review Keeps my purple hair purple!!!
When I first got my hair colored, I bought a shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. (I believe it was specifically for purple) it dried my hair out and the purple stayed in for about 3 weeks. After getting it redone i went to Ulta and purchased this and the conditioner. IT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!! It is July 1st right now, my hair hasn't been done in3 months and it still is vibrant. It smells good, leaves my hair smooth (I don't even use a defrizzer anymore) and even my hair stylist immediately felt the difference. I absolutely love it!!!! It is also lightweight, I have no problem scrunching it if I want to!
Most Helpful Critical Review I am shocked at how much of my color washed out!
I was excited to use this shampoo. I recently colored my hair over a week ago and had been using L'Oréal color safe shampoo in the red bottle from the drugstore since I know it doesn't fade my color. Thinking Redken is a trusted salon quality brand, I ordered it on sale. I was in complete shock when I noticed the suds in my hair were dark brown and all the water and suds in the bottom of the shower were dark brown with all the color that rinsed out of my hair! I colored my hair over a week ago so all of the extra color would have been rinsed out already. This shampoo stripped my color out and now I have to go color my hair again. I am so disappointed in this product. I will be returning it to Ulta.

Since using Redkin's Extends Color Magnetics products, no more breakage or excessive loss of my hair. It leaves my hair soft, shinny and gives it more volume than any other shampoo and conditioner I have ever used without drying out your hair.
Such a great value and product
Mel from Louisville
I would buy this product again and again. I needed to change my shampoo due to me putting blonde in it and this is wonderful.
Love this product

This shampoo/conditioner has improved my hair 100%, love it!
So much hair loss
Ally from Sacramento
NO! I just dyed my hair brown after being bleach blonde. I've lost so much hair in the two months i've used it. My hair looked much more healthy as a fake blonde. On top of the hair loss, my hair is greasy after 12 hours. I'm hoping ulta will let me switch it out for a different brand.

leaves your hair smelling great and feeling soft
Great color preserver
JJ from New York, NY
Have been using this shampoo for several years. Doesn't fade my color and leaves my hair healthy and soft.
Cecy from Bakersfield CA
Smells great, doesn't leave hair greasy, doesn't leave hair tangled.

I absolutely love this shampoo!!!
Love the smell, hate the feel
alex from Ohio
this has such a strong perfume smell. i love the way my hair smells after it dries. However, thats where the positives end. this is the first professional shampoo I've tried that does not leave my hair/scalp feeling clean and gets greasy faster than normal. sulfate/silicone free shampoos can do this- but this was on a whole different level. maybe it was user error. but it's a no for me dawg.

Great shampoo for color treated hair. Does not strip color nor dry hair out!

Wash my hair every other day
Tila from Houston, Texas
My hair stylist recommended me this one since she just did my hair, I have a balayage done and it definitely helps with my blonde not look brassy at all plus it smells really good too! Feel like the smell stays even for a couple of days!
Love this shampoo
Claire from Louisville, KY
While costs a bit more than other shampoos, it's worth it. Lathers great while still not stripping any color from hair. I've tried many & this is my favoraite.

In my opinion fir my hair this is the best shampoo I've ever used! I stock up on it when it's on sale, otherwise I think it's a bet expansive at Ulta! I tend to shop around for better deals!
best color-preserving shampoo for fantasy colors
fausty from Columbus, OH
i didn't like this shampoo the first 2 times i tried it because of the top two complaints: greasy roots and hair feels tangled after shampooing in the shower
grease: this is to be expected with an acidic shampoo. chemically, it just cannot remove as much oil as a conventional alkaline or neutral pH shampoo. my shortish fringe bangs would be noticeably greasy by the second day, and i prefer to shampoo my hair every 3-4 days. i just shampoo only my bangs a second time in the shower and bam, no more greasy bangs. over time, my scalp has adjusted and the only time my bangs are noticeably greasy by day 2 is after trimming them shorter.
tangled: in the shower, immediately post-shampoo, my hair feels a little tangled, but that's what conditioner is for. once my hair is conditioned and dry, it's soft, shiny, bouncy, and the natural wave is very defined. i do not use any other products or heat style my hair.
i dye the top, or outermost, layer of my hair with demi-permanent dark brown dye and the under layer is bleached and dyed teal/green with arctic fox dye. this acidic shampoo does a great job keeping the cuticle closed and preventing color fading of both dyes. it makes the bleached and dyed hair soft, even the ends.
if you want to preserve your hair color, lengthen the time between dye touch-ups, and also enhance your natural wave or curl, give this shampoo more than just 1-2 tries before you write it off.
Eventually made my hair super greasy
EBB from Tennessee
Worked well for about two weeks but then it started making my hair so greasy and feel gross. I couldn't stand it. My color has lasted, but I would wash my hair and it wouldn't feel clean even right after it dried. I also started noticing some dandruff. I returned both the shampoo and the conditioner because they definitely weren't worth what I paid and became basically unusable.

I rarely ever review any products but feel the need to review this and share my experience. I purchased this along with the Redken conditioner to match and began using it in the spring of this year. At the same time I was going back to school and had a couple life changes happening. My hair is thin and fine and to my horror I began losing massive amounts of hair in the shower and when brushing my hair. I was mortified! I have never had something like this happen to me before. I thought it had to be the stress of going back to school or the changes I had going on. I did not want to throw away shampoo and conditioner this expensive. Finally in desperation, I purchased my go to shampoo and conditioner and within a week or two the hair loss stopped and was back to the normal amount I typically lose. What a relief! A month to 6 weeks after I stopped using this shampoo and conditioner, I had baby hairs spiking all over my head. While I am happy they're growing back I am so sad I waited so long to stop using this. My hair looks wild now with regrowth poking straight up in the air, I have fairly long hair so I am embarking on a long journey of patience here. This shampoo may be great for some people, but be cautious because for me, it was the worst!!

This shampoo definitely helps hold color, but it is extremely drying. I have fine curly hair & noticed my hair was drying abnormally fast after I got out of the shower. Then I started noticing how dry my hair felt overall. I stopped using this shampoo & my hair started to gain its moisture back. I threw it out even though I had a good bit left. I do not recommend getting this shampoo, especially if you have fine or curly hair.
Made my hair break off 3 to 4 inches
Caused 4 inches to break off from Colorado
DO NOT BUY. Bought it during the Black Friday sale and now realize why it was on sale. This shampoo and conditioner made my hair break off about 4 inches. I am so devastated. My hair is pretty healthy, and this redken horrible product has ruined my hair. It is the shortest my hair has ever been because of this awful product. I will never use anything redken again.
Contains SLS avoid product
Samantha999 from FL
I have used this product for years and spent lots of money because this product is expensive. I have noticed that my hair color is not lasting lately. I made a Research and it happens to be that it has SLS. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
Anyone with color-treated hair or dry hair should definitely avoid SLS, as it can fade your color and strip your strands of natural oil. It's coming off of my favorites.
Aisa from MA
I have fine hair that gets oily after about a day and a half of not washing. This shampoo makes my hair oiler than normal, with my hair looking barely cleaned (if not cleaned at all) after washing.
I will not purchase again and do not recommend for oily hair.
P from Colorado
Really horrible shampoo. I bought it to keep my recently dyed hair looking good. I don't think it did anything to help. It dried the bottom of my hair out but made my roots greasy. I think what was most frustrating was how tangled it made my hair in the shower.
Best shampoo ever!
Susiè Q from Georgia
I use this shampoo and a spray on conditioner for shiny, squeeky clean hair!
Every month I use another Redkin clarifying shampoo to keep any build-up away from the strands and scalp.
Made hair greasy, a little does not go a long way
Trod from Tulsa
This conditioner is not good. It does not spread well and leaves my hair dry and scalp greasy. I have color treated hair and I use Sebastian drench conditioner and it works way better and a little goes a long way, compared to this Redken conditioner that I would not buy again.
Possibly the worst shampoo I've ever used
Eve from Kansas
I usually use a color-depositing shampoo from Viral, but I have multiple vivid colors in my hair and needed something neutral. This was recommended, and I bought it as Redken seemed like a trusted brand. This product not only stripped a massive amount of my color out, it dried my hair out like nothing I have ever used before. I've never written a review of a shampoo, but this stuff is truly bad.
I'm 4 days post-wash, and the ends of my hair are still brittle and dry, while my scalp is incredibly oily. This is going back to the store, along with the accompanying conditioner, and I'm waiting for the VibrantSexyHair that my stylist recommended in the first place.
Don't buy this.
