- Q
Can you use just part of the kit and save the rest for next time?
- Asked by CM
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageThanks for your question! Color Dream is a single-use kit designed to be used immediately after mixing the color cream and activator. Once mixed, the formula begins to oxidize and cannot be saved for future use. For best results, apply the entire mixture during one application. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Is this more warm or ash colored?
- Asked by TalynL
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageThanks for your question! Color Dream shades are generally formulated to be neutral in tone unless otherwise noted in the shade name. For example, Cool Blonde has cooler, ashier undertones, while Golden Blonde leans warm. Shades like Medium Brown or Light Blonde are designed to be more balanced and neutral. For the most accurate results, we recommend checking the swatch imagery and product descriptions, and doing a strand test to preview how the color appears on your hair before full application. - Q
I just used the light brown and love it! I'm using it over permanent salon color and have about 2 inches of regrowth that is 50% gray. Can I put this color on roots for 20 minutes and then cover whole head for another 20 minutes? I can't use permanent color anymore and want more gray coverage. Thanks
- Asked by Sandra
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageWe're so glad you're loving the Light Brown shade! Since Color Dream is a demi-permanent color, it’s designed to add tone and shine, but it won’t fully cover gray hair. It may help soften or blend your grays slightly, but those strands will still be visible, especially around the root area. Applying it to your roots first for more processing time is a good idea if you’re hoping for more even tone, but the coverage will still be subtle compared to permanent color. If you’re avoiding permanent formulas, Color Dream is a gentle option that can enhance your overall tone while keeping your hair healthy-looking. A strand test on your grays is the best way to preview how the color will take and help you decide if it gives you the look you're going for!Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Will it cover gray hair?
- Asked by Nina
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageColor Dream is a demi-permanent color, so it won’t fully cover grays. It can help blend and soften them, but grays may still show through—especially if they’re resistant or bright white. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Could you use this in a balayage way?
- Asked by DEB
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageYes! Our Glossy Glaze formula can be used to add tone or depth in a balayage technique—it’s great for enhancing dimension with a soft, natural finish. For best results, choose a shade that matches the lightest part of your hair to ensure even blending. When in doubt, we recommend consulting with your hairstylist to help select the perfect shade. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can this be used in a balayage way, because it's a subtle product, it won't have that demarcation line?
- Asked by Deb
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageYes, the Demi-Permanent Kit is ideal for soft techniques like balayage. It gently enhances without creating a harsh regrowth line. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Will this work for covering gray
- Asked by Frannypearl
- Official Answer By dpHUE - Brand EngageColor Dream can blend in up to 20% gray, but if your focus is to cover gray, we suggest our Root Touch-Up Kit that is designed for this. Was this answer helpful to you

Good gray coverage for some hair types
I have black, low porosity, kinky (4c) hair. This product was fairly easy to apply. The only things that weren't clear were how to get one of the tubes open (you have to use the lid to puncture the seal) and what color the mixture should be when ready to apply. These things weren't explained in th...

Not worth the money
I used the Light Brown. I would give this less than one star if I hadn't at least felt that my hair felt nice after using it. It left my hair soft, but there was almost ZERO effect. I even left it on an extra five minutes on my very porous hair, and it still had almost no effect. If someone had done this while I was asleep and I woke up in the morning I would NOT know I had anything done to my hair! I have about 50% gray and it did not blend them at all. I really cannot tell that I even put a demi on my hair. Would not recommend. I should've stuck with Natural Instincts which I have used off/on for years. At least it works, and it does last as long as they say. Sometimes the natural instinct colors is a little dark initially, but it stays, and it's a true demi that does provide some gray coverage. Do not buy this. It is not worth the high price tag.
HANDS down the best Strawberry Blonde color!
Hair Type Very Curly Hair
This is my 2nd time ordering this color. It is a very true and natural color. Makes my hair look the same as it did when I was 18. Covers up my white (redheads don't grey)! Would highly recommend this product. Easy and cost-effective, and I love the formula.
Copper but make it dark brown

Comments about Copper
I purchased this kit from my local beauty store. The kit is easy to use and has everything you need. I purchased the copper kit to freshen up my faded copper highlights and money pieces. Instead I got a uniform dark brown. My hair also felt dry afterwards. Hopefully it will fade into something but I am not hopeful.

bought copper and got brown
The kit is easy and application is typically, but that is where it stops. 1st my hair came out a uniform dark brown not the copper color I purchased. I also had prelightened areas and almost blond money pieces. 2nd my hair felt extremely dry even though the product claims to be conditioning. Hopefully after a few washes it will fade into something, but I doubt it.
Worked great !

Comments about Medium Brown
I'm thrilled with the results. I have tinsel strands of grey coming into my naturally medium to dark brown hair. I spread the mixture thickly on my scalp with plenty to reach the ends (for reference I have very long hair).
