Most Helpful Positive Review Great for Beginners
I have never tried a cleansing balm like the Banila line. There are four different types of balms in the line, and currently are formulated to suit different skin concerns. I used each for 3 days.
The first one, Clean It Zero Original (pink bottle), is an unscented balm that applies easily. It removed my makeup and left my face feeling refreshed and "minty". No complaints and would use this one again!
The second one I tried, Clean It Zero Purifying (blue bottle), in my opinion is suited for more sensitive skin that is also acne prone. True to its' name, it left my face purified and refreshed. It wasn't harsh, but still felt like it deep cleaned my skin. It did not irritate me or cause any adverse reaction. No complains and would use this one again, too!
The Clean It Zero Nourishing (yellow bottle) in my opinion is suited best for dry skin that requires a little extra moisture, although it would probably work on any type! It felt very "light" compared to the others and had a more subtle affect. Again, no complaints on this one either! I would definitely try it again.
The Clean It Zero Revitalizing (green bottle) was different in that it has a soft smell that is not too overpowering (for me anyways). It is the only one out of the four that had a noticeable scent, and was the only one that felt a little "waxy" after the application. Not a showstopper, as it easily was removed, but it definitely felt like a different texture compared to the rest. I would still use it again, but only if I had no other makeup removed.
To conclude my review, I enjoyed trying each product in this line and figure out what works best for me. I would honestly like to incorporate these products into my routine after quarantine (not wearing as much makeup, haha) as a makeup remover. Each different formula removed my stubborn eyeshadows, mascaras, etc. without any irritation or spreading. These would also be great for a beginner who needs a good pre-cleanser or makeup remover!
Most Helpful Critical Review I'm keeping this but won't re-buy
I started using this as step one in my skincare routine, primarily to remove the day's makeup. I saw all the reviews about how it all just melts off and wanted to try. Before this, I was using the makeup eraser, which I had no issues with but I am open to a method that is less aggressive to my skin and maybe less laundry as a bonus. I have also been hearing about double cleansing for a while and I'm ready to get on the bandwagon.
I've only used this a few times. I always use first thing to take off the days makeup and then follow with a cerave foaming cleanser. Each time I used it, I pat dry with a white towel and see some leftover makeup on the towel. This tells me that if there is makeup leftover that I see, there is plenty more that I don't see. I should add that, on the occasions I used it, I was wearing a LOT of makeup. I also wear good quality, longwear type makeup that is meant to stick around. I will try again with my usual weekday makeup, but I think the lesson learned is that I have to stick with the makeup eraser for full glam days. Additionally, my mascara (not waterproof) did not "melt off" as some reviews mentioned, but it did come off with some light scrubbing with my fingertips.

I wanted to love this so bad but it caused the worst breakouts. I noticed that I started to breakout shortly after first beginning to use it. I stopped for about a week and cleared right up. I thought, bc I'm also pregnant that the acne was caused by that, so I went back to using it and my skin flared right up again. Very disappointing.
Not for eyeliner people
Ari Taurus from MN
I bought this and have almost used it all and here are my final thoughts. It works to get your fave makeup off but when it came to eyeliner, mascara and certain glitter eyeshadows, it just pushed it around my face. Also the soap itself doesn't lather or deteriorate like most soaps, it just moves around unless you add more water as your washing. It gets the the job done but not as well as using miceler water on a reusable washcloth.

I love trying new things so I rarely stick to the same items over and over. But this!! This is the one thing I always buy. This removes my waterproof mascara with ease and no tugging or forceful rubbing to get makeup off. I even used it to take off my daughters Halloween makeup because I knew it would get the job done.
Does a good job but be careful!
Maura from Pittsburgh PA
I felt like the product worked very well and took all my make up off however, when I woke up in the morning my eyes were sore and swollen I still can't open them fully. I am NOT a sensative person when it comes to product but this one was really bad :(
The BEST Makeup Remover!
Jay from CA
I am an everyday wearer of waterproof mascara because it's the only thing that holds my lashes up after I curl them, & this removes it with ease! Also, this doesn't bother my eyes at all! I've used many other oil cleansers that irritate my eyes, but this never does. I love how clean my skin gets & how gentle it feels.
Wish I could give it 10 stars
Monica from Florida
Removes all make up including waterproof mascara, cleanly, and thoroughly, without hurting your eyes and better than any product I've ever used and I'm including Lancome!
Haily from KENTUCKY
Omg this took my full face of make up off in seconds and not to heavy to where i couldnt open my eyes.it didnt leave my face feeling oily after which is amazing. I followed this with a cleanser and the rest of my facial routine and im so satisfied with this product. Im so glad i got the big jar. Will definitely buy again!
takes off tough makeup
shelbsea from NM
I feel like I put this stuff to the test by using it to take off not one but two Halloween makeup looks back to back and it took off some tough makeup, even pigments like bright pink that usually stain my skin. It did not leave a greasy residue at all! But I did flow up with a cleanser. Highly recommend!
Classic Korean skincare product!
J. Yang from Wilmington, NC
This is a classic Korean cult-favorite cleansing balm that everyone loves and raves. It does a wonderful job at dissolving makeup, waterproof mascara, liquid lipstick, and does not leave your face feeling greasy after washing it off.
Poof! Makeup gone
Lgg from Mississippi
As soon as you rub your hands together, it melts. Then with almost no rubbing, my makeup comes off. I've tried other balms, this is the one I have no allergic reactions to, cleans thoroughly, and makes my skin feel awesome (even after the second wash). I use the blue one. I'm on my second tub.
Waxy/eyes blurred/ skin flaky
Missy from pa
I decided to purchase the original cleansing balm instead of the Clinique take the day off balm because of the price point. Well, you get what you pay for I guess. This left my skin with a waxy finish that even after washing off cause my Clarisonic brush to wax up and not work properly. My eyes were blurred after using as well until I went over them with micellar water. My skin is also flaky now around my eyes and my nose. This did not help my skin at all. Disappointed..
Getting used to this product
Lauren J. from Albuquerque
I have been wanting to try a cleansing balm for awhile and I am glad that I picked this one up. I can't imagine using this alone, it leaves a residue behind. I am impressed with how well it removes makeup. My first time using this product was to take off lots of Halloween makeup and it easily removed the layers of thick white foundation and gobs of black eye makeup.
Love Love Love
Beannie from Giddings
I love this product! I truly melts away ALL of my makeup.
Part of a double cleanse—it's not soap
Keikah from Wisconsin
I've read a lot of reviews that make me wonder if folks are using this incorrectly. First, it's a cleansing balm. It's not something you would use exclusively to wash your face. When I use it, I put a small amount (maybe quarter tsp) on my fingertip and rub it together to melt it a little. Then I massage it over my face—including my eyes. The oils may make your vision a little cloudy for a few minutes but it goes away without doing anything. Next wet your hands and massage over the balm. It will emulsify, not lather. Wipe it away with a wet cloth.
If you stop now, your skin will hate you. You've removed your makeup, but you haven't cleaned your skin. I think a lot of people who talk about residue did just that. Pick your favorite cleanser—foaming, acne, whatever, and wash your face. Follow with the rest of your skincare routine.
This balm is way better for your skin than makeup wipes— which are really bad for your skin according to everything I've read. But it's not a solo product. It's part of your skincare team.
I've tried all formulations except nourishing. Right now the purple jar is my favorite. But it lasts such a long time. I read someone said it lasted them a month. Try at least 3-4 for me. You only need a tiny amount.
I was thinking about trying another balm—but why? This one works great for me.
Purifying = Okay, Original = BAD
Julia O. from Indiana
I bought the Purifying version after reading good reviews on it for people with acne prone skin. It did a good job of washing off makeup but I didn't see any improvement acne wise.
Fast forward and I decide to try to Original version on a travel size when going on a weekend trip. Horrible idea! My skin hated it. I woke up with the biggest, deepest, most painful series of breakouts all over my face. (I usually only get maybe one noticeable/painful zit every couple weeks for comparison.) I now have about 10 across my face and it just feels bruised and unhappy. I didn't change anything else recently that could have caused this.
I'm really disappointed because reviews were super promising. So just be careful if you are someone with similar skin to me I guess
Ahardy from Louisville, KY
I bought this as a cheaper alternative to the Farmacy cleansing balm. Never again straying from Farmacy! This product made my eyes so irritated. I was born blind in one eye, and because of this balm, my only working eye is itchy, irritated, and almost swollen shut. I've never had an allergic reaction to makeup/skincare. In addition, this balm leaves my normal skin feeling dry and stiff. Stay away if you have sensitive skin or sensitive eyes.
Holy grail cleansing balm!!!
Julia from Minnesota
I wanted to switch over to a more environmentally friendly way of removing makeup and stop using makeup wipes. I decided to try this and I haven't bought anything else since! This stuff is truly a game changer! I've tried two other cleansing balms and after they left my eyes irritated, red, and gave me blurry vision, I've known this stuff is amazing. It's definitely worth buying, I honestly don't know how much of these I've bought since it feels like I've had about 50 of them!

Alternative to Clinique balm

I used the Clinique cleansing balm for a long time, but I wanted a more cost affective option and I this product did it. Would recommend to anyone.
Not worth it
Stargirl from Springfield, MO
I bought this after seeing a lot of videos.Once I got it, I was worried because on the packaging it says to avoid contact with eyes even though the website says it removes eye makeup. Well it did, but it left my eyes stinging so bad! Made them all red and gave me a blurry vision for a couple of minutes. Will be returning it.
sensitive skin warning!!
andie from houston
I used this balm once after impulse buying, and while I initially like how it took off makeup and felt on my skin, I woke up with super dry, flakey skin all around my eyes. i haven't used this in two weeks and the skin around my eyes is still red and burning. do NOT try if you have sensitive skin!
Nourishing balm is HG!!!
MJ from Lake Charles La
This is the best cleanser ever!!! I've used high end, drugstore and even indie skin care but nothing compares to this. After years I've finally found my HG!
I use this morning and night and it doesn't leave a residue or clog my pores AND it doesn't dry out my skin. It's magical. Oh and it smells like yeasted honey rolls. It doesn't have any fragrance added though so I'm guessing it's from the royal jelly extract. Banilla thank you for making this cleansing balm!!
Ash from Louisiana
Removed waterproof mascara that I always have trouble getting off!! I've only used once but so far it's amazing!!
M from Cali
One of the only makeup removers who takes off my NYX Epic Wear Liner!
Hannah from WV
I would recommend this product a million times! It makes it so easy to wipe away makeup. It easily removes waterproof mascara, and doesn't burn your eyes. I still used a cleanser after, but only to complete my skincare routine.
