How to Use

I purchased this originally thinking it was a facial moisturizer. When I realized that wasn't the case, I was worried to put it on my face because I have oily, acne prone skin and didn't want to exacerbate the condition. However, I applied it anyway and was pleasantly surprised how much my skin improved. My skin has become less textured, my breakouts have decreased, and the redness has significantly subsided. I also find that my skin is less oily than it was when I was using a gel moisturizer marketed for oily skin.
This Cerave container is also very large when used only on the face, so I suspect I'll have this for over 6 months when used once a day. I have used dozens of facial moisturizers over the years (gel, lotion, acne-fighting, thick cream, etc.) and this was has beat them all, including my previous high-end Korean brand. I will definitely repurchase this when I run out.
**Small suggestion: I recommend you purchase the Moisturizing Cream that comes with the pump. I find half a pump to be more than enough for my whole face. The pump stops me from accidentally using too much product, plus it's more hygienic this way.
A dedicated Cetaphil user (and pusher😉) for years, I must admit I was extremely swayed by the advertisements for CeraVe when it came out. And the ingredients still sound impressive, surely ceramides and hyaluronic acid will do more for my skin than petrolatum and sweet almond oil, right? Wrong. I was so disappointed in this product. Initially I was so excited that I decided maybe I could go with the lotion formulation, save some time and maybe even use "normal lotion" like my friends! Wrong again. But that's a different review. So, I bumped myself up to the cream thinking that a thicker, more concentrated version would do the trick. Honestly the only positive that comes to mind for me is that you can purchase this cream with a pump. And I do appreciate that— I wish other brands would find a way to follow suit. It's quicker, more sanitary and keeps some ingredients more stable/effective. Apologies to readers looking for quick info, I'm hoping other brands do their research via Reviews. About CeraVe's cream, I can only imagine that those on the nearest to oily end of "Normal to Dry Skin" end of the spectrum would be the ones to benefit from this product. If you have dry skin, at all, and I mean even the need for something a little extra for your elbows or feet you will be sorely disappointed with this product. I've applied it to damp skin fresh out of the shower, and an hour later "as needed." Even doubling down like that didn't give any noticeable results, aside from noticing that my skin was nearly as dry as if I hadn't treated it at all. And lest anyone think I'm just a CeraVe-hater, I will go off topic (again) to say that I'm a big fan of their PM facial lotion. In fact, I'm never without a backup bottle of that product! Bottom line? This cream is not suitable for those with dry skin.

Okay. So a lot of people love using this on their face and consider it a holy grail; however, for me, it's a hard NO. I have very dry skin, but I get clogged pores easily so I get acne easily. I tried this out as a face cream because it's fairly cheap for the amount of product, and everyone seems to love it. I've tried it twice over the past few years, and both times I have broken out. If you research the ingredients, there are 2-3 potential ingredients that can clog your pores. If you have super dry skin, this definitely won't be the only cream that you need for your face either. Otherwise, it works perfectly fine for my hands and body. I work a service job and the sanitizer we have to use cracks my hands terribly, so I just slather this on and cap it with some Aquaphor and my hands are back to normal in minutes. So, moral of the story is: if you're prone to clogged pores, definitely don't buy this as a face cream.

My skin was getting extremely dried out from all of the acne treatments I had done and I'd moisturize like crazy but it never worked. This is the only moisturizer that has ever been able to counteract the dryness acne treatments give me. Which has made my acne lessen significantly because of my skin not being as dry. I love love love it!!!! It lasts so long too! So worth the money.

Body moisturizer. Makes skin so smooth and silky.

Working in dermatology, this is the only cream we recommend. Keep that eczema and xerosis away with CeraVe! Lol

This is an amazing product for parched skin. It's wonderful for body and face use and soaks in quickly. Though do invest in the pump, or be sure you have freshly washed hands before scooping some, or have a clean tool for the product.

I had not found a holy grail moisturizer until now. I kept bouncing back and forth between a few that I thought worked fairly well (but a lot of times would need to use one for my T-Zone, and another for the rest of my face). My grandmother who is 79 and looks 65 swears by all products CeraVe. Then, I started seeing some influencers using it as well who pay big bucks for good skincare normally so I decided to give it a try.
First, the value of this moisturizer is insane. I got the "Smaller" tub and it is still huge. I am guessing this will last me at least a year and I use it twice a day. You don't have to use much at all for your entire face/neck. It goes on like a veryyyy light moisturizer (almost like a serum and moisturizer had a baby), but it is very very quenching. The best comparison for texture I can give is the Tula 24/7 moisturizer, but I find it much less greasy than that. I have an oily forehead/nose, but everything else is dry and this works great for my combination skin. My forehead does look a little shiny with it (nothing compared to other moisturizers I've used in the past), but if I put makeup on, it completely covers it. I am also prone to breakouts and haven't gotten once since starting to use this.

My skin is desert dry. I mean desert dry - cracks in my skin and constant itchiness type of dry. The CeraVe Moisturizing Cream has been amazing for my skin. It deeply moisturizes and hydrates. I have been using it for several weeks now and have noticed wonderful improvements on my skin. There is more plumpness and bounce in my skin elasticity. I'm also not constantly itching like I was before using this product.
There is no greasy or tacky feeling when I apply this product. I don't really notice it but there is a slight. . . chemical (probably not the right word) smell. Unfortunately, my boyfriend has a really sensitive nose and can smell it, so just a heads up that if you or someone you live with has a sensitive nose that might be an issue. But I really don't smell any strong smells from this moisturizer.
I was rather hesitant to purchase this product because of the price point however, a little does seem to go a long way. As I have only been using this product for a couple weeks we will see how long it will last and if it's work the price. But I will most likely purchase this product again as it's been amazing for my dry skin.

This product is a life saver! My hands get so dry and cracked all the time and no lotion/cream has really done much to help me. This stuff worked almost immediately and worked all day long! I also like to use it right when I get out of the shower to keep my whole body moisturized throughout the day. The only "con" I have is the feeling of washing it off of your body in the shower - it kinda feels like there has been a film covering your skin for the past day and washing it off just feels a little weird.

One of the best moisturizers I have ever used! I am already on my 5th purchase of this. I use it before I apply makeup, nightly before bed, and all over my body after the shower. It has made my skin hydrated and super soft as a baby's butt.

Very moisturizing and thick. love the extra mositure for bedtime or winter time. No scent and never burns great for sensitive and dry skin. Even when i have bad skin flare ups I know I can use this without worry.

this product is so creamy and hydrating. I love this for the more dry skin areas (hands from over washing, feet, elbows, knees) but also great for the whole body. will definitely continue buying.

This moisturizer is really nice for the price and how much you get. It's great for sensitive skin, my skin breaks out in rashes very easily and this hasn't caused any issues. I've been using this for six months and my skin is very soft. In the winter months I do have to use Aquaphor as well so my skin doesn't dry out, I have very dry skin.

The 16 oz was bigger than I thought. Works great.

There is nothing special about this. The moisture level it gives skin is eh. You also have to use a lot of it because it doesn't spread easily. I don't know why people have hyped it up so much. There are better products out there.
NonE from Virginia
Overall really good moisturiser. Best for the night time but can also use it in the morning. If using it for summer Mornings, even little amount will work
ThisGrlLuvsUB from USA
My dermatologist recommended this for my age-related eczema and I haven't looked back since. I use the cream for winter time and it last all day. There's no real scent so it doesn't interfere with my perfume. My whole uses it now and we love it
Zuly from Miami,FL
I like using this moisturizer only at night as it is thick. My skin is very soft and very hydrated in the morning. I have oily skin and live in FL so it's always hot and I'll sweat and on top on sun screen I feel extra oily. Overall amazing as an overnight moisturizer.
Sam from MA
The only moisturizer I'll ever use. It is the best. No scent, love the texture and absolutely great after shaving your legs! I use it every single day.
Kenny from California
I absolutely adore this stuff. I pretty much use it head to toe. It's my perfect moisturizer, and I especially think you'll love it if you have dry and/or sensitive skin. It's mega thick and hydrating without leaving your face greasy at all. I find if I have any dry or red patches, putting this on before bed will make them disappear by the time it's morning. This is the perfect last step to use in your nighttime skincare routine to hydrate and seal in all your other skincare.
The only downside is this does not layer well under makeup. I find it can do weird things with spf or makeup and start pilling.
Caroline from New York
This cream is just okay. Don't buy into all the hype and ads. It does a fine job moisturizing, but every time I've used it (no matter the amount) it pills on my skin and if I run my hand over my cheek, a bunch of little "rolls" of dried up cream come off. Keep in mind I exfoliate well and have not had this problem with any other moisturizer, so it's not dead skin. Once I used it and had multiple people comment that it looked like my skin was dry and peeling because of this! I would only recommend it as a night moisturizer for this reason. It is very thick. I do like that it has a pump and think other brands should follow suit on this.

Go to product. Can use with anything anytime. I have dry acne (hormonal) skin. This is perfect amount of moisture for dry skin without aggravating acne.
