I applied a dime sized amount of this to my shoulder length hair while damp. My hair is 2B, bleached, fine, and high porosity (even in the unbleached areas). The goal was increased moisture retention and less frizz. This leave in did seem to do both of those things, but my hair's texture seemed off...

This is not the same product anymore
As I've seen across the entire Ouidad line, the current parent company has quietly reformulated nearly every product. I am concerned that the formula changes are classic cost-cutting strategies, as I see a pattern of reducing the overall concentration or potency of the more expensive conditioning ingredients across the brand. The original Moisture Lock leave-in was my favorite leave-in conditioner of all time. The current product is a different product entirely. The reduction of behentrimonium methosulfate probably accounts for the most significant decrease in performance and renders it a functionally different product altogether. These parent companies should not be allowed to create a different product and label it the same thing; this is no longer the Moisture Lock leave-in conditioner. This practice is deceptive and gross. They did a similar thing with the Advanced Climate Control conditioner, reducing its richness and launching a deep conditioner/mask. This was clearly strategic, creating a poorer performing product to encourage the consumer to buy additional product. I am really disappointed. Ouidad continues to have some of my favorite products, but if I continue to see this unethical business model I will have to discontinue buying from the brand entirely. The only product I know for certain they didn't change is the strong hold version of the Climate Control gel, and again the motivation was greed as that has long been the brand's highest seller. I wish Ouidad Wise had not sold the brand, as I now more than ever truly believe she didn't expand the products to this extent because she provided core formulas that actually worked. The original formulas were incredibly advanced, rivaling some of the most expensive haircare brands on the market and for a more reasonable price compared to those prestige brands. Now we're seeing what these big parent companies do to legacy brands like this and it's disgusting. I doubt in 10 years this brand may even exist anymore at this rate.

[I received this product in exchange for my honest review] I have medium thickness, wavy dry hair with oily roots. I used this product after applying my shampoo and conditioner on towel dried hair. I have used it and have let my hair air dry after scrunching and i have also let it dry using diffuser and have gotten better results than before. It makes my hair look shiny and more manageable. It fells lightweight and does not make my hair looks oily. Definitely a must try if you are looking for something after you wash your hair for easy manageability.

Hi, In one of your answers, you indicated that this product contains only water soluble silicones. However, amodimethicone is not water soluble. Therefore, the information you provided is incorrect.

- Official Answer By Ouidad Products LLCThe amodimethicone ingredient we use in this formula is in fact water soluble. The fluid is an amino functional polydimethylsiloxane. The highly basic nature of the primary amine groups causes this silicone polymer to develop a net positive charge in aqueous systems over a wide pH range. This silicone is soluble in water which makes the formula with amodimethicone qualify for the water soluble silicone.Was this answer helpful to you
