Comments about EcoTools Makeup Brush Cleansing Shampoo:

This stuff cleans anything I've ever needed it to....from gel eyeliner in brushes, to foundation, to blushes and shadows.....I've had a little trouble getting stuff out of knock off beauty blenders, but I'm not sure if that's me not being thorough, it if it's just difficult to do, or if it's the product. Either way, this stuff is great, and I love that it's free of parabens and phthalates.

Does a great job for the price. I went to Ulta expecting to buy the expensive prestige brand in that the suggested baby shampoo/bath didn't clean brushes/sponges good enough. This, combined with my hand-held silicone scrubber, does a great job.

        It works

        By SD_NatureGirl

        from San Diego

Comments about EcoTools Makeup Brush Cleansing Shampoo:

I used the BB liquid cleanser for years because it was virtually free in sets and lasted forever, but the cloying fragrance finally got to me. I tried this based on reviews and washed all of my brushes with it several times. While it cleaned them well enough, it's just not as concentrated as I'd like. I do like that the scent is light.

          Soap wouldn't come off brushes

          By Ry

          from SC

Comments about EcoTools Makeup Brush Cleansing Shampoo:

Though the brush shampoo cleaned the brushes, this is in no way convenient. No matter how little of the shampoo I'd put in the brushes the soap would still be there minutes later after running it through water. It left my brushes with a weird kind of film on the bristles and made them feel greasy.

Does this product have a scent or smell or does it leave a scent on the brushes?

              HI Krys,

It's a great question! The scent is soft and a bit floral. It may leave a very slight scent on your brushes the first time after you use them, but it should fade away soon after.

              Thanks!

Hi! What ingredients are in the "fragrance" word in the ingredient list? I wish companies (especially eco friendly companies) disclosed them to further show their integrity. Thank you!

              A:

              HI SBD,

It's a great question! Unfortunately, I can't share the actual fragrance notes due to the proprietary nature of this information. I can tell you the scent is soft and a bit floral, though.

If you're concerned that you may have an allergy, I would recommend conducting a patch test on a discreet area of skin to hopefully ensure you don't experience irritation.

              Thanks!

              Hi Michelle,

Great question - this cleanser is one of my personal favorites because of how gentle it is, but also how effective it is too! You should be able to use this with no problem on any of the makeup brushes in your bag.

              A:

              Hi Ray Ray,

As with everything, it's probably best if you consult your dermatologist before using, but I can tell you that this is formulated with ingredients that are a bit less harsh than some of the other makeup brush cleansers that are out there. And, while I'm not a doctor, I think that would lessen any skin irritations, etc that you might experience.

              Hope that helps!

              Hi Abby,

Great question. This brush is specifically formulated with gentler ingredients to ensure that your brushes and sponges do not dry out. I use this shampoo to clean my brushes every week and LOVE the performance I get from them after I clean them. While we don't claim that this "conditions" your brushes, I do think mine feel softer after cleaning, definitely!

              Thanks - hope that helps!

Such a good question and love to hear that you're cleaning your brushes! This brush shampoo is specifically formulated to be as eco-friendly as possible, which means that the ingredients used are going to keep your brushes as soft as possible. I use this every week to clean my brushes and I think they are still as soft as when I got them!

              A:

              Hi Mackenzie,

              Thanks for your question.

This cleanser has been dermatologist tested and is hypoallergenic. Because it's also made with gentle plant-based ingredients, and is free of parabens, phthalates, and petroleum-based ingredients, it should not cause your skin to break out. Just ensure that you wash, rinse and dry your brushes thoroughly.

              Thanks!

            Will this shampoo kill bacteria?
Asked on 4/28/2016 by Glynn from W.berlin

            1 answer

            • Brand Expert

              A:

              Hi Glynn,

Good question - I actually had to ask the people who formulated the shampoo about that, so I learned something too today! :)

They told me that the Makeup Brush Shampoo is just a cleanser for the brushes, and does not contain any antibacterial agents. The shampoo will wash away buildup (including bacteria), but isn't designed to kill bacteria.

              Hope that helps!
