Most Helpful Positive Review Love the entire hydro boost line, including this!
I just purchased this exfoliating cleanser because I just happened to see it on the shelf and I'm so glad I did! I've been using it for a week now and I love it! The beads are super tiny, not rough and my skin feels super clean right after. Then I follow with the hydro boost serum and/or hydro boost gel cream and my skin just drinks it all up. I'm loving the entire line! I'm not sure why the Neutrogena site doesn't show this in the Hydro Boost line up? I just happened to see it when I went to the store to buy the hydro boost serum.
Most Helpful Critical Review Like A Sunburn
I waited for this launch and couldn't wait to go to Ulta and buy it. I had such high hopes. Immediately after using this cleanser, my skin felt clean and great, and I loved the smell. That night, my skin looked and felt like I had a sunburn. Not a bad sunburn, but it looked like I was out in the sun for an hour longer than I should have been. I'm fair so this was noticeable. It's not recommended to go out in the sun after using this product, and I was conscious of that and applied a moisturizer with 15 spf and a foundation with 18 spf as well. It wasn't sunburn, it was definitely this product. After about 2 days my skin was crazy itchy, and took about 5 days to totally subside. Not for me, but that doesn't mean it won't work for you.

I have purchased this product before and keep coming back to it. It is a good price point and it gets the job done. Best of all my skin does not feel dry after using it.

Good drugstore brand you can find just about anywhere. But I always go for a sale!

Its very moisturizing and smells great. Not oily.
Aj from FL
It took two weeks for my skin to get used to it. I use about a penny size amount and mix it with a few drops of water like the instructions says. It is a weekly product on my routine, I use it twice a week and try to do it one time at day and one time at night. At first, I got white pimples around the nose area, but quickly faded away. It's hydrating after finishing my skincare routine but if you don't moisturize, it can be a bit drying.

This doesn't leave my skin feeling dry. It's a gentle exfoliant! Love it

I use the hydro boost water gel-it is a must have for me so I thought this would be too. Boy was I wrong. After the first use in the shower I noticed my face was red and splotchy but thought it must be from taking too hot of a shower. Now let me say-I am used to getting an occasional pimple on my cheek but it is still rare for me, my forehead is my usual breakout spot. After four uses both of my cheeks are extremely broken out with little red pimples and whiteheads. I literally look like a hormonal teenager, and this never even happened to me in my teens! I am extremely upset and hope my skin will be able to bounce back from this quickly. Disclaimer: I know it was this product that caused this because this is the first time I have changed anything about my skin routine in probably a year and my eating habits are the same also.
Great drugstore skin care!

I hadn't used drugstore skin care products in years and then I randomly decided to try this one. This is great! I have combo skin and this gives you moisture but isn't too oily.
Stay clear of this product!

Ingredient I. This cleanser is Sodium hyroxide is used in drain and oven cleaner. It can cause severe burns and permanent damage to any tissue it comes in contact with!

Like a chemical burn
Allison from Rapid city, SD
I'm writing this to save someone else's skin!!! Do not try this!!! I don't switch up my routine often as I know what works for my skin, but I chose to try this. After about 4 uses my skin dramatically changed. My skin is fairly normal with minor breakouts + no texture. After my fourth use I broke out in literal hives, itchiness, and redness all over my face and neck. Face was on extremely inflamed and beat red. I consulted my doctor and now I'm medicine in order to get over this reaction. Bottom line— DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
I will repurchase!

I use this product daily and have noticed my skin looks very hydrated. My skin is left soft and it glows. It does a great job at removing all makeup.
DO NOT BUY!

Awful product! I've used Neutrogena products in the past so I didn't think about doing a patch test before using this cleanser and I now regret it. After my first use, I noticed my skin was slightly irritated but I didn't think much of it since my skin normally reacts that way to a new product. After my second use, my skin began to feel warm. It wasn't until I got home after work and started to remove my makeup that I saw how red my skin had gotten. It looked like a horrible sunburn! My skin was also very itchy and dried out. It has been 4 days since I have used the product and some of the redness has subsided but now looks very blotchy. My skin still feels like it's burning, it has continued to dry out, and I've developed new breakouts all over! If my skin doesn't show any more signs of improvement in the next couple of days, I'll need to go see a doctor.
Not for sensitive skin
Alex from Arkansas
I wanted to love this product so much because it felt like I finally found "the one", but it has left my face burning! I usually don't have many problems with neutrogena products and the only thing that I can think of that's causing this is the AHA. My face is a bright pink, it's very warm to the touch, and everything itches! I will be returning this product as soon as I get the chance for something much more gentle and soothing.
best for my skin!

I use this after I used my serum and massage the exfoliate on my face for 30 seconds! It helps my skin a lot
Hi from FL
I have oily skin and only used this once a day and different cleanser at night. This cleanser help pervert clog whitehead on my nose and cheek. Since I'm oily I hate having clog whitehead on my cheek this product help at lot. It has glycolic and lactic but doesn't say how much % in them. Don't used everyday if your comb skin and don't used if your dry or sensitive skin type.
Chemical and physical exfoliator
Krystal from San Antonio
This has to be my favorite exfoliate I have ever tried I really feel like it gets rid of my dead skin , leaves my face feeling smooth, doesn't irritate my skin ( I have sensitive oily skin ) and it smells really good too . The name hydro boost is misleading tho bc the main stand out ingredient is so low and doesn't leave your face feeling hydrated but as long as you put on moisturizer like you should do anyways you're good
Regret using this
Holly from Maryland
I have only used this twice and totally regret it. My face is now dry, itchy, and causing a small breakout. My face has cleared up immensely and I just wanted to get a cleanser to begin a skincare routine.... big mistake. I'm so disappointed and I only used maybe a dime size amount. Now I'm looking at all the real reviews and other people have had the same exact reaction to it. I bought it on a whim thinking it sounded perfect and I wish I would've read the reviews first. I hope my skin can bounce back quickly.
exfoliating beads are not Avery effective

Used product 3 times and find that that it does not exfoliate very good.
This product is absolutely terrible!
bbubbles3 from salt lake city utah
I used this for the first time last night and it was fine until I got out of the shower. I looked in the mirror and my face was red, swollen and looked sunburnt. Today I can see at least two breakouts getting ready to pop up. This product is fit for the garbage and nothing else. #1 dermatologist recommended brand, yeah right.
Results after first use

So I got this product for my boyfriend and he has dry skin yet large pores, not really sensitive skin. And I got it because of the hydration aspect and the fact he can use it daily. The first day, right after he used it (along with moisturizer) his pores were smaller and a lot of them basically disappeared! His face is smooth and I wouldn't say super hydrated but no dry patches like he had.
Cam from Houston
I did not expect this to work so well. I use it 1-2 a week when my skin is feeling a little dry or have a mild break out. It truly boosts the hydration in my face and make it feel soft and smooth. My face has been the clearest it's ever been and feels great. Such a great and cheaper exfoliating cleanser.
Kara from California
I use it when my skin is feeling extra dry or am looking for a gentle exfoliate and it works great.
G from Boca raton
So I decided to buy this product because I loved the water gel my friend had and I like to use that to hydrate my face but the exfoliating cleanser completely dried my skin out I have cracks under my eyes that are burning I can't wear make up or anything and my face is completely cracking out I don't get sunburned so I'm not used to this feeling my skin is medium to dry usually and it's not like it to be dry like this I think it's very misleading that the product is named hydroboost and it's doing the opposite of hydrating my skin is actually completely drying it out
Irritated my face!

This product instantly left me wrong I used it for about four days straight. Today I had to go into Ulta and get a facial from Dermalogica. I purchased the ultra calming kit for my face I feel so much better!
More of a chemical exfoliator - would not be good for sensi
Erin D. from California
This contains AHA and other acids - it is more of a chemical exfoliator or peel than a physical scrub, even though it does contain little physical scrubbers in it. It has irritated my skin before, but it definitely WORKS. I use it in the shower about once a week - quickly spread it on my face and rinse it off right away. By the end of my shower, I can feel dead skin peeling off my face and so I go in with a moisturizing facewash and just use my hands to exfoliate the skin that is coming off. It leaves my skin super soft. It has turned my face red before when I've left it on for a while or when I've been simultaneously using Vitamin C serums or purple shampoo. It definitely will react with certain other products in your routine. I would not use it more than once a week. But I like it because it WORKS to get all the dry flakies off my face. Make sure you go in with aloe or a moisturizer that is calming afterwards.
