Most Helpful Positive Review Love It! I was browsing Ulta for some new hair care products and came across NYM line! I can honestly say that this stuff is amazing, especially for the price point. My hair is very coarse, curly and needs moisture; this product gave me definition and moisture. Definitely recommend this brand
Most Helpful Critical Review Really wanted to like it :( I was super excited about the new line and really wanted to like the gel but after giving it a week, I am ready to throw in the towel. From the first time I used it, I noticed my hair was more dry and frizzy than with other gels I had been using. I also have type 2b-2c hair and noticed that I didn't have as much curl with this gel. With other products I have pretty good curl definition all the way to my roots and with this, most of my hair is straight with a few curls on the end. At first, I thought I didn't use enough gel since I went pretty light the first day since my hair gets greasy/build up easily. After 4 tries now, I am giving up on it. I have so much frizz with it that it's hard to see the waves/curls and looks like someone rubbed their hands all over my hair while dry. The frizz is decent until you SOTC then things go downhill fast!

This gel smells amazing. It also has great hold and improves my curl definition, but as it lasts 3 to 4 days, I love how my hair smells. Try it!
Left me with beautiful, soft, fluffy hair! 5

Volume, and a light fluffy hold. My new holy grail! Paired it with the cream and topped it with mousse. The results were amazing. Used small amounts and I got the best wash n go ever!
It's okay doesn't work for my hair 3
Goddess from Florida
I have very curly hair and this just isn't it for my hair. The hold is very very light and my hair frizzes up in the middle by day 2. Doesn't leave a nice shine what's so ever. This will work best for 3C hair tbh not really curly big hair.
Works great on my hair 5
Carolyn from Saint Paul MN
I use this along with the curl creme and mousse and I love how my hair turns out. I've tried so many different products including DevaCurl and Not Your Mother's takes the cake. My hair is curly and prone to frizz and these products help keep the shape of my curls with reduced frizz.
Turns my hair to straw 1
Sue from Mohnton PA
NYM products were recommended by a friend when my favorite flexible hold gel was discontinued. I had such high hopes. Watched a youtube review and it seemed like an answer to my prayers. Nope. Nope. Nope. Too perfumey and made my hair feel like straw. Totally dried it out and the gel somehow keeps my hair from curling nicely. Forget trying to combine products. My hair felt it had shellac on it. Went with Marc Anthony products. Now my hair is soft, shiny and curly.
Not a Fan 1
Meg from FL
I wanted to love it, heard so many good things. But my 2C/3A hair did not love it. It made my hair feel sticky and oily. Didn't play well with my other styling products. Didn't have a strong enough hold for my loose curls.
Best hair gel 5

Bought it for my daughter and she love it
Works for me!!! 5
Holly from long island, ny
I have type 3A curls low density. My hair doesnt like heavy products. And it looooves protein. Which is what I love about NYM brands because most products have protein but lower down the list so it helps me maintain my moisture/protein balance. Wouldn't switch...anyways, the gel is light so I use a good amount. maybe 2 TB. It creates a cast for me and holds my curls for 3-4 days. Barely need to refresh. If i do, I use the refresh foam and a spray bottle and amazing results. Sooo happy with this gel!
great product 5

Adds wave to my somewhat wavy fine hair. Good value. Biggest problem is that stock is often low in the local strores.
Does not mix with other products 1
curlyzebra from Maryland
I tried this gel a few times same result every time, hair was sticky and frizzy. Today I decided to do see how well it mixed with other products I own and the results varied from cloudy to clumpy and gross, this includes the curl cream from the same line. Unless I got product from a bad batch this product is not for me.

Great hold for my fine wavy hair without weighing it down. In fact my hair felt a lot stronger after using this product. Controls frizz very well too.
I wanted to like this gel so bad 2
Mixed Girl with the Mixed Curls from Florida
I'm 3C/4A and let me tell you... I've never had a problem with my curls curling. My hair is THICK and kinky and since using this gel, my hair is drying out. I deep condition every week and my hair is still having problems. Sorry NYM 😒

It's hard for me to say weather I like it or not. I say this because I usually don't like "watery" gel I normally go for thick gel so it can hold my curls better but I would still use it if I ran out of my normal gel. On the other note this says that it is not flaky. when my hair dried I went to go look in the mirror to see how it looked and to scrunch it up a bit and my hair was flaky. It was the first time I used it and I had to go get pictures done. It make me a bit insecure because I don't want people to think I had bugs in my hair but from far away you can't really tell nothing. I'm not sure of it was the products that I put in my hair that made it flaky. I doubt it did because I used a cream in my hair. In the end this gel is complicated, at least for me.
I do not normally use gel... 5

But this product has completely changed my mind!! It is awesome! There is definitely a little crunch, but it is easily scrunched out and provides great definition without the stiffness of traditional gels. My curls are 2c-3a and I do not feel like this gel weighs down my hair. It smells great and pairs well with other styling products. I highly recommend this product!
One of the best gels I've ever used! 5
Cookiecutter16 from Chino
This gels delivers excellent hold for my hair and the right about if softness after I diffuse it. It's great for all types of hair and really does make your curls defined. And it also has a dupe for coconut oil (rice) which is perfect for people who have allergies or don't like coconut oil in their products.
this is the only geal my daughter will use now. 4

The Best Inexpensive Gel Ever Created! 5
Prettichic from Louisiana
I have naturally dry, fine textured, low density, wavy hair. My hair is also thinner in certain areas as well. This styling gel is not too thick nor is it too thin. It has the perfect texture of any gel that I've ever tried. It has a sweet scent to it, but it doesn't give me a headache or cause stomach upset. Also, I have tried styling gels they are super expensive to ones that are dirt cheap and this one I find actually is what I would pick hands down over them all. I know a lot of people apply styling product to their waves, curls or coils with their fingers only, that they don't do so in sections, they don't do it on wet hair, and that they don't detangle their hair properly after applying styling product to their hair either. This is why so many battle frizz or major shrinkage all the time. Leaving your hair in a wet state and not removing any water from it, provides the perfect base for which one is to get a perfect wash and go. After you condition you're hair and when you either wrap it up in a t-shirt, turbie twist or regular big towel, you are removing the precious water that you need to stay in your hair and yes, you will have frizz to deal with when you take your hair down, regardless. Dampening you're hair with a spray bottle is not the same as leaving your hair soaking wet. Throughout my entire wash day process, I do not remove any water from my hair at all. I only put a towel around my shoulder to catch dripping water from my hair or any product that may possibly fall from my head. After conditioning my hair, I take a section of soaking wet hair, apply styling product to it and then I brush that section thoroughly with my Denman brush making sure to get my roots real good, and then I move on to my next section and complete the same steps until I have finished doing my entire head of hair. I then finger style my hair into how I want it to dry and then I will let my airdry fully. Works wonders!

Great Gel 5
perfectlyblended_ from Kennesaw, Ga
I love love love this gel. In combination with the right leave in or cream, it creates a great cast and leaves my hair super shiny and bouncy. I do think it's weird how it doesn't mesh well with the curl talk cream (you can test to see if two products work together by mixing them on the back of your hand and looking for clumps. If clumpy, doesn't work if not clumpy they work well together). Once you find the perfect leave in this gel is heavenly. I've already been through two bottles.

Made my hair DRY 1
Alex from Las Vegas
I have curl type 2b/2c and the reviews on this product seemed great. However it made my hair SOOO dry and gel residue would be on my hands after I would touch my hair after hours of drying. I returned the product and my go to gel is Curl Smith soufflé!
Love this product! 5
Emburg from Texas
This is one of the first gels I've found that doesn't weigh down my wavy/curly hair. I use it along with the cream and it's a match made in heaven.

This is not like most gels, this gives your curls life without looking like you've fighting your whole life. No frizz, shiny, and bouncy!
