Comments about Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge:

It's a great sponge. I like to use it with liquid foundation. Blends makeup really well. Dampen sponge with water to get more of a lighter and hydrated/glowy look. Can use dry to get fuller coverage look. The only downside to this, is it can tear along the edge, when used damp if you are not careful and have long fingernails. Also, if you use it damp, make sure you let it dry in a well ventilated area. I put mine in a little plastic container without a lid, but it got mold in the sponge after a couple weeks of use. I wish that Real Techniques or Ulta sold the little plastic holders for the sponge, individually and not just in the brush kit. It really is an easy sponge to apply/blend makeup with. I just wish I could get more than a few weeks use before having to replace it.

Comments about Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge:

I have gone through two Beauty Blenders the past couple years and have been very happy with them. I switched to this brand to see how well it worked since I'm now a Momma of two with a part time job and do not have the money I once did.
I use Estée Lauder Double Wear Light foundation, which isn't super 'liquidy' but I this sponge soaked up way more of my makeup and did not pat onto my face with stippling even when sponge was wet. Although what did come out gave good coverage and made my skin look even more airbrushed, my foundation is WAY more expensive than this sponge and I would be loosing money in the long run. I also rated this lower for the shape of the sponge. It was difficult to get my under eye well and even with any angle or part of it. I recommend using for powders or other thicker foundations that others will have luck with, for me though, I returned and purchased the BB again.

                    Hi Leah,

Good question - and, based on my experience, I'll answer it as best I can, since I do think the Miracle Complexion sponge is very bouncy. :)

The one thing I remind a lot of people of is that these sponges are kind of like cookies - they are made in batches, and sometimes certain batches are slightly softer than others. Overall, I think this item is the most bouncy sponge we make.

                    Hope that helps!

                    Hi Min,

Great question! Depending on how much makeup you use, you should clean the sponge every couple of days, for sure. And make sure you replace it every 30-60 days. For people with sensitive skin, I recommend every 30 days.

I would not use a daily brush cleanser spray on this item since that won't clean as well as an actual shampoo or wash will. What I would recommend is a Brush Shampoo from our sister brand, EcoTools. It's made with more eco-friendly ingredients and doesn't contain certain chemicals that you might find in other cleansers. That item can be found here: http://www.ulta.com/makeup-brush-cleansing-shampoo?productId=xlsImpprod13501085

                    Hope that helps!

Is it normal for there to be soap or some sort of foam within this sponge when it is new? I bought it and took it out the package, ran water over it and it started to get extremely soapy as I squeezed the excess water out. I did not put anything on it..

I purchased this sponge about a month ago. I really like the feel and coverage it gives. I wear light cream foundation makeup 5-6 days a week, only applying in the mornings. After about a month of use, it is flaky away already. That is exactly why I wanted to get away from the other makeup sponges I've been using for years. They don't last long. Is that a normal amount of lifespan to expect?

                    Hi Kristin,

We do recommend replacing your sponges every 30-60 days, and if you're using it every single day, you probably want to replace it every 30 days. Or use it every other day and on the days you don't use your sponge, use a brush. You might find that that extends the life a little bit.

                    Thanks - hope that helps!

                    Hi Aynia,

For a cream foundation, I would probably use a brush as I think you will get more use out of your makeup with a brush on cream, rather than the sponge. There are two foundation brushes I would recommend.

The first is our Expert Face Brush, which would give you medium to heavy coverage based on its bristle density & cut:

                    http://www.ulta.com/expert-face-brush?productId=xlsImpprod4260015

The other brush comes in our Flawless Base Kit and it's actually my favorite brush in the collection. It's the Buffing Brush; it's like the Expert Face brush, but the bristles are less dense and a bit fluffier, so it gives you a bit more of a light to medium coverage:

                    http://www.ulta.com/flawless-base-set?productId=xlsImpprod15361243

                    Hope that helps!
