Comments about Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge:

I needed an alternative the my beloved beauty blender and decided to give this one a go. I wanted to like it soooo bad but it just didn't work out for me. If you have a foundation with SPF, this might make you have even more of a white cast. In my experience, this sponge holds in a tad bit of water even after squeezing it out. My beauty blender would feel "dry" enough to where it would not alter the foundation I was using that much. This one still feels "wet" and when patting my foundation in, I can hear the extra water in the sponge. It did do good for the first few months I used it, but then I strayed away more and more. Maybe my skin and foundation application haven't been the best, I took a long break from makeup, but I do still feel as though the sponge could hold less water. Not bad, just not as good as my beauty blender.

After applying my foundation with a brush! If I'd like to create a matte finish I use my sponge dry. For a dewy look I prefer spraying my sponge with MAC fix plus setting spray. Lastly tapping my foundation in for a smooth flawless look.

Am always looking for good products that are affordable and that they work great as well. I really wanted a beauty blender but I was not happy about paying $20 for it. This is a great alternative and at a good price. It blends my foundation very nicely and even, it does not absorb too much product and it's the perfect size. The only bad thing is that it stains easily but its just a minor thing compare to the rest.

I've been using the real techniques sponge for a while now because that's all I can afford but now that I think about it, I might as well save my money to buy the beauty blender or something better because this sponge sucks up all the foundation. I feel like I have to go ove rmy foundation more than twice just to get a decent coverage. Also, even after a few weeks the foundation stays stained even after trying to clean it. So then I have to buy another one again. It's just not worth it in my opinikn

I bought this recently because of all of the good reviews. How come when I use it, I don't get great coverage like everyone else is? It just feels like i need to keep reapplying more foundation, which is of course not good. I pump my fenty foundation on the back of my hand, dot on my face, and then try to blend. Am I doing something wrong?

                    Hi Jasmine,

Thanks for your question. Our experts recommend that you slightly dampen the sponge before use. You also will want to use lighter, sweeping motions, which will blend the product along the surface area of your face. Pressing the sponge hard on your face may cause more absorption overall.

All in all, brushes and sponges will absorb a small amount of the product, just by their very nature; but overall, you shouldn't find that it's absorbing a significant amount.

To be perfectly honest, I'm much more of a fan of using brushes, rather than sponges, just because I think I get better coverage with brushes. There are so many people who love their sponge, but I'm one of those who will pick up a brush any day!

                    Thanks. Hope that helps.

                    Hi Stevie,

Great question! So, the sponge is made from polyurethane foam, which cannot usually be recycled, but I would recommend a quick call to your local recycling center. They may allow that type of material to be recycled.

                    Thanks!

                    Hi BeachBarbie8,

Great question. For dry skin, always make sure you're moisturized and using a primer that is specifically for dry skin (I have dry skin too, so I know the struggle!).

The best way to get a more natural, dewy look is to do exactly as you listed: wet the sponge and squeeze it to get a lot of the moisture out. As far as how to apply foundation to the sponge, what I like to do is add a bit to the back of my hand, dip the sponge in and apply. Some people dot foundation around their face and use the sponge to blend, and others add directly to the sponge.

I feel like I use less makeup if I apply from the back of my hand, but that's just a personal preference.

                    Thanks.

                    Hi Jasmine,

There are certain situations where that phrase "you get what you pay for" is true. But I don't think this is one of them. Our Miracle Complexion Sponge is, without a doubt, our most popular item in the Real Techniques line not only because it's affordable, but also because it is high quality.

One of the reasons I would probably recommend going with the Miracle Complexion sponge is its affordability. Because of the porous nature of these sponges, you will want to change it out every 90 days or so, based on how you use it. If it was something you bought once every year, a splurge might be the way to go - but because you will need to replace it pretty often, your wallet might like it better if you went with the Miracle Sponge.

And, you can also buy our Twin Pack Miracle Complexion Sponge and save a few bucks (http://www.ulta.com/miracle-complexion-sponge-set?productId=xlsImpprod12231055) or our Four Pack and save even more (http://www.ulta.com/4-miracle-complexion-sponges?productId=xlsImpprod15361251)!

If you do a search for Beauty Blender vs Miracle Sponge on Google or YouTube, you will probably find a lot of people saying that the Miracle Sponge is the way to go. I tend to agree with them! :)

                    Thanks!

                    Hi Kiyeera,

                    Great question.

After washing, make sure all excess moisture is squeezed out from the sponge. Store it out in the open so it can air dry. I usually place it on my soap dish or on a dry wash cloth. The one thing we do not recommend is to put it in a closed environment where air can't get to it (like a case or a drawer).

Depending on how often you use it, make sure you replace it every 60-90 days.

                    Thanks!

Good question - and, based on my experience, I'll answer it as best I can, since I do think the Miracle Complexion sponge is very bouncy. :)

The one thing I remind a lot of people of is that these sponges are kind of like cookies - they are made in batches, and sometimes certain batches are slightly softer than others. Overall, I think this item is the most bouncy sponge we make.

                    Hope that helps!

                    Hi Min,

Great question! Depending on how much makeup you use, you should clean the sponge every couple of days, for sure. And make sure you replace it every 30-60 days. For people with sensitive skin, I recommend every 30 days.

I would not use a daily brush cleanser spray on this item since that won't clean as well as an actual shampoo or wash will. What I would recommend is a Brush Shampoo from our sister brand, EcoTools. It's made with more eco-friendly ingredients and doesn't contain certain chemicals that you might find in other cleansers. That item can be found here: http://www.ulta.com/makeup-brush-cleansing-shampoo?productId=xlsImpprod13501085
