      Comments about Differin Acne Treatment:

I had mild white heads all over my forehead after experimenting with oil-based serum.
I bought this adapalene gel to try remedy that. After week 3, my whiteheads are replaced with new clusters of deep cystic acne and red irritated pustules. I used a gentle mositurizer so i did not develop dry skin but this product irritated my normal skin type.

Be cautious when reading about "Purging period" in the reviews. Is it really worth it to risk getting severe acne just so you can check if the purging period will go away?? either way I am not left with scars.

my dermatologist told me to stop using this after 7 weeks of embarrassing and painful cysts on my forehead. I never got anything that worse before.

I stopped using this gel 3 weeks ago and i still get 3-4 cystic acne at a time. I think it really penetrates your oil glands and it is very intense product.
If you are reading this and want to try this product because of the raving reviews about the clear skin after purging period, please just go to your dermatologist and ask for advice.
Self-medicating with something this strong is a recipe for disaster.

Week 12 is supposed to be the time when you check if it works for you. However I could not live with painful mountains of cysts on my forehead . New ones popped up every 3 days.

        Comments about Differin Acne Treatment:

I've been using Differin gel for two months, and it has definitely helped to clear up *most* of my acne. The package insert says it can take up to 3 months of use to see full results, so I'm not quite there yet. There's a lot of reviewers out there that say they noticed no difference after a couple of weeks, but you absolutely need to use it for at least a month or so to even see any evidence that it's working. I'm in my late 30s and have been battling acne all my life, and this last year for some reason has been awful for my face. While I still don't have picture-perfect skin, this product has helped to greatly reduce the amount, length, and severity of my breakouts.

            Comments about Differin Acne Treatment:

I really wish this worked for me. I already passed the 3 month mark where it's supposed to have already done it's job, but obviously it didn't. My acne used to be hormonal but after using this for three months I now get acne whenever it feels like popping up :( and even worse when that time of the month comes around. My skin's texture is TERRIBLE!! I have huge pores, scars, and just weird little bumps around my t-zone. I also have really oily skin in some areas and the rest instead of being normal are now dry/itchy/flaky and I've never had that problem sigh hopefully something else will work but as for now I don't know if I should continue using Differin or if I should just stop.

                Comments about Differin Acne Treatment:

Not going to rehash the other reviews, but add some info. This is a very gentle and slow working product. I have used it since early May, 4 months, and am slowly improving...so do not give up, if you do not see instant results. Some get retinized (facial redness) esp if using aha products. I have not, but still suggest limiting ahas, as the derm confirmed. What I asked the derm today was....What can you put on top of this? Before differin, prob used 4-5 products at night, ala AB/KB routine. He suggested a light moisturizer. But, you can let the differin dry at least 10 minutes, as the bottom layer, then use your niacinamide, snail, Vit C, or whatever you wish. I thought that differin had to be left alone, but once it is dry, you can use your regular night products in their regular order. But avoid aha products, at least concurrently. As to efficacy, I find it least effective on whiteheads, so I guess I'll start incorporating the aha that beautypedia rated 5* that I sourced at Ulta...Derma E overnight peel...but in the morning to keep it away from the differin. Guess the Cosrx rice sleeping pack can go back to night, according to derm info. Lol, was using it midday on days off. Bottom line, differin is not a mandatory stand alone product, like I thought.

I have been using differin gel for maybe about a week now, and I know it's probably too soon to give a full review, but I wear that my skin is improving. It feels softer and I have less active acne papules than I did when I was just washing and moisturizing as normal. I can't wait to see how my skin improves with more time I may come back and post a before/after pic once I've been using it for a month or so, but so far, so good!

                Comments about Differin Acne Treatment:

I used this back when I was in middle school for cystic acne and normal pimples and black heads as well. At that time you could only get it from a doctor.
I haven't been able to use it in years, but I remember when I was using it it saved my life. My acne was so bad I didn't want to talk to people, and it would keep me up at night because of the pain.
As soon as I started to use this the pain went away from my cystic acne and the redness went down as well.
It did dry out my skin a little, but only put it where you need it. It isn't an all over the place gel, strictly spot treatment only.
If you have an open acne cut don't put it on that because it will burn, but you can put it over a whitehead that hasn't been popped, over black heads (I put it over the top of my nose) and red areas that you know a pimple is going to form to start to battle it a head of time.
I've used it on my chest and back as well and shoulders too. I recommend using this at night because it will make you a little sensitive to the sun. Plus, why put on medication then put makeup over it? You risk rubbing it all off, so what's the point?

                TLDR;;
I really recommend this product if you have bad acne/cystic acne and are looking for a solution with out going to the doctor.

I never really had acne until into my 30's and this is the only treatment I've found effective. I'm pretty sure I've tried EVERYTHING! It does dry the skin so it's important to moisturize too, but it works great.

                Comments about Differin Acne Treatment:

I have been using this for about a month now. It has almost completely solved my moderate acne problems. When I first started using it, my skin was very dry and using any other product (moisturizers, some cleansers) would burn. I learned to use cleanser and moisturizer first, then wait at least 30 minutes before applying Differin. I purchased the travel size and it is just now starting to get low. I use a pea sized amount for my face once a day. I use this with the Eucerin Gentle Hydrating Cleanser and Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer and Proactiv Emergency Blemish Relief (for the few acne spots that do show up). This has been the best product I have used so far and according to the insert it takes longer than one month to get to the final results.
