I received this YSL men's perfume in exchange for my honest opinion and . First I want to applaud the gorgeousness of the bottle its this sleek and sexy black glass bottle with a silver line that wraps from the front to the side of the bottle that on one end is just a line and on the other shapes in...to a y, very simple and gorgeous bottle I love the gorgeous metallic silver and matte silver lid is displayed on the top of the lid and the bottom of it with a black ridged siding. This bottle would look gorgeous displayed on any man's shelf because of its sleek and simplistic design I could go on and on about that but we have to talk about the scent of this. The Y Le Parfum is an oriental fougere which is a fragrance that combines oriental scents that are typically warm, spicy and woodsy notes with classic scents from the fougere family that are typically sweet and aromatic. The top notes are grapefruit, apple accord, ginger and aldehydes (sidenote Aldehydes provide the more fresh and soapy quality to the overall scent). The heart notes or the main notes are sage, lavender essence, geranium absolute and the base notes are cedar, olibanum (this provides the sweet woodsy balsamic undertone I would say something similar to amber or frankincense), tonka bean (which fun fact was a replacement for vanilla scents at one point because it has a creamy vanilla scent with a almost nutty almondy essence to it) and patchouli essence. Now upon first spray you do smell most of the scents coming together I do smell fresh and soapy essence but also a bit of the with a tiny bit of cedar and olibanum also patchouli so more the fresh woodsy earthy masculine scents but overtime the softer sweet scents start to really unravel. I'd say give it a couple hours or more and you start to smell the geranium, sage and tonka but the top notes are still present just less of them especially the aldehydes fresh spiky note. The tonka bean, patchouli cedar lavender and olibanum just exude the entire essence of this fragrance. I actually love it just because it's both that hard masculine edge with just a hint of soft and sexy in the background. If I had to say the vibe that this scent gives its clean natural woodsy but this very subtle slight hint of sweet and sensual or soft like a very elegant mature scent for men but also fun and playful with its notes. I found myself obsessed with smelling it and finding the heart and base notes unlocking slowly overtime when the top notes start to slowly fade away. In other words yeah I love everything about this scent. If I had to suggest undertones of fougere like vanilla maybe cinnamon and mint would be a great first layer under this cologne to sort of enhance the sweet fougere notes or gourmand tones. If not that I would honestly suggest something like tobacco rum something a bit more masculine to counteract the gorgeousness of the clean top notes. All in all, the bottle of this product and the scent provide a gorgeous sensual mature masculine vibe with a lovely sweet gourmand undertone its got that James Bond edgy yet tantalizing appeal that if you are into an oriental fougere scent then yes this is definitely for you. I don't have any negative things to say its gorgeous, sensual, tantalizing yet masculine and mature also soothing and sweet. 5/5 No notes I truly can't say anything negative about this scent and bottl
