Ruined my hair :(

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I want to help others avoid an awful experience as I had. I heard so many great things about this line I was sure it would work for me. I really wanted it to be amazing. Not only was it not good, it was horrible on my hair. The scent is unpleasant ...

This is great for all hair types. It smells very natural and herby. Kinda a strong smell but after you use it and your hair drys or it soaks in it smells light and floral I love this product a lot and it runs out fast but definitely buy.

Hair Type Very Curly Hair

I purchased this after being introduced to other Innersense products at my (Curly Hair) salon. My hair is slightly below chin length (when straightened), a combo of type 3/4 Curls, color treated, with a tendency to be dry and non porous. The majority of the time I wear my hair in a wash and go that I finish (fully dry) using a table top bonnet style hair dryer. I use hair oils periodically to help retain moisture during the week. For me, a weekly wash and deep conditioning treatment is my best defense for happy curls and retaining length. This is a water based and highly concentrated product. I used this for about a year and while I wasn't wild about the results, I liked that it worked well with the other products and didn't weigh my hair down. I recently adjusted my routine and started to apply this more generously, and I feel like I am meeting this for the first time. Perhaps I know how the makers intended it to be used? I have learned to get the best results for my hair with this, and all of the Innersense line, by making sure water is present in each step. I apply this to freshly washed and conditioned hair while my hair is very wet/sopping wet. I begin in the shower by finger sectioning my hair into 5 parts, using clips to hold the areas in place- I do not towel dry, nor do I squeeze the water out of my hair. I also put on a processing shower cap immediately after sectioning to ensure my hair stays as wet as possible while getting dressed. I feel like it takes time and patience for this to activate, so I begin applying it by untwisting a section of hair, spraying some of product over it, gently detangling with a wide tooth comb, using strokes to massage the product into my hair, retwisting the section, clipping it, and move on to another area. Then I return to add more product to detangle and work the product further into my hair. I find that the extra time from the first pass allows the product to soak into my hair better, making detangling easier and helping me to retain moisture. Following up on second pass with more product and my "curly comb/brush" fully smooths the product through my hair, resulting in better slip. I know my hair is hydrated and happy when it begins to clump together at the ends. I keep my hair in sections and keep the cap on. After everything is conditioned and happy, I move on to styling with I Create Hold - Gel. Overall, love this product and how it helps me maintain hydration. It has a light fragrance that I find calming, clean, and herb-like (?) that lasts for a few days and is not overpowering. I like that I can layer this on, and it does not flake. I have found that it has great slip so long as it is activated with water and used on wet hair. The travel size lasted me two uses with some left over, so its worth the shot to test it. I am excited to see how using it properly will help me retain length and get a more defined curl pattern.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Dried out my hair

I used the product for about a week and a half. It was very drying to my curly hair. It made my hair so dull and lifeless. I ended up returning.

Hair Type Wavy Hair

Product work wonderfully, kept the wave and curl very nicely. Smell was so over strong and being close to my nose I could not stand it. Gave me a headache. I had to pull back my hair to make it through the day. Would not even give to someone else.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

I love that this leave-in has non-toxic, organic ingredients. It works really well for my 4A/4B hair and gives me consistent results no matter how I'm styling blowouts, braid-outs, or wash-and-go's. It hydrates without weighing my hair down and leaves everything feeling soft and healthy. Definitely a staple in my routine.
