Love the Painterly! Looking to replace a discontinued product (eye shadow serum - rose petal), which appears to be similar to the MAC Princess Cut, but without the shimmer...any idea if there are plans to release more Matte shades?
- Asked by Helen
- Official Answer By MACYou never know what the future holds at MAC! For now, try layering the pretty pink in the MAC Connect In Colour Eyeshadow Palette Embedded In Burgundy over Painterly. Which Paint Pots are shimmery? I'm looking for a replacement for a Dior black shimmery powder I purchased many years ago. I'm already using a cream eyeshadow base and a Paint Pot in Taylor Gray from below my brow to just above my eyelid crease and a small amout of the black shimmery shadow at my eyelid crease but that eyeshadow powder is almost gone and I need a replacement. I have those large eyelids and deep set large eyes which are gray sometimes and blue or green depending on how the light hits them so I never know what color to go with.
- Asked by Nin
- Official Answer By MACWe completely understand wanting to replace your favorite shimmer! For something similar, try our Paint Pot in Black Mirror. It's a black shade with a soft shimmer that might provide the same vibe. You might also enjoy Vintage Selection, Princess Cut, or Bougie for an extra glow, especially with those gorgeous multi-toned eyes! Additionally, consider the Dazzleshadow Eye Shadow Sticks for a stunning metallic finish. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Once this opened, how long is it safe to use before it should be discarded.
- Asked by Made Up
- Official Answer By MACHey there and thanks for reaching out! Some products include a Period After Opening (PAO) number that indicates the number of months within which an opened product should be used or replaced. Once a product is opened and used, its integrity can be affected by such things as exposure to environmental conditions or from contact with the user's skin. If a product is not fully used following that time frame, we suggest replacing it in order to assure product integrity. Unopened products should be good for at least 3 years under normal use conditions provided they are not exposed to extreme heat or cold. Was this answer helpful to you

Highly Versatile!
Originally I purchased this in Constructavist to be a strong base colour for my darker shadows and it worked beautifully. It wasn't till I tried the shade Painterly, however, that the product's full potential was revealed. I now use that shade as my only eyelid primer. It creates a smooth base that ...

Colors, texture coverage vary
I purchased three of these a couple of weeks ago after having previously tried some colors. Overall here is the review of each color I have: Painterly- Good basic eye base or for those days when you want bare but not red eyelids. It has no sparkle but doesn't give a matte dry look. Works well under ...

Great eye shadow base
Gentle on my eyes, smooth consistency, maintains my powdered shadow year-round
Mac pro longwear paint pot cream eyeshadow
I like how it goes on smoothly without creasing and gives good coverage over eyelids
This keeps my eye shadow looking good all day and night
On a normal day I'm wearing makeup from fourteen to sixteen hours. Before I started wearing this product about...nine or ten years ago, it's been a while...I'd have to redo my eyes about halfway through the day. Pro Longwear Paint Pot keeps them looking good until my day's over. And it doesn't take much to get it done - this little pot lasts me about two years and I wear it every day.
My favorite under eye and eyelid concealer
I use the color painterly as a concealer for my eyes and under eyes because it doesn't crease on my oily skin. Its very easy to build on the color with other colors or other brand eyeshadows. I buy this on repeat. Sometimes it seems a little dry but i just rub a tiny bit of jojoba oil on my lids and under eyes then it glides on perfectly.
Best eyelid primer
I've been using the painterly paint pot as an eyelid primer for over 2 decades. It's the holy grail for my oil skin and hooded eyelids, helping to prevent eyelid creasing with liner and shadow. Highly recommend and hope they never change this or get rid of it.
