Living Proof Perfect hair Day High-Shine Gloss

I purchased this product because I was interested in trying out a gloss but my hair doesnt react well to a lot of heavy silicones. I have waist length wavy hair—fine but high density and low porosity (think 80s Julia Roberts)—so I have a hard time using a lot of smoothing products as they weigh down my hair and often leave it looking greasy. When applying this in the shower for the first time, I was a little hesitant as even when applying generously the product didnt give my hair much slip and it's honestly a little sticky when applied to wrung out hair. Theres a noticeable increase in shine on my wet hair and it's still there once dried. I will say I see more of a marked difference on styled hair than my natural texture, but honestly my favorite thing about it is the improved manageability. My hair develops fairy knots very easily and I also can get pretty intense mats at the nape of my neck. The way this product smooths my cuticle really helps cut down on that and keeps my hair less frizzy between washes. I will say that it does have a fairly strong fragrance that has some staying power—even with my hair pulled back people will comment on how nice it smells for a few days after use. I find it pleasant, a fresh clean smell pretty typical of salon hair products, but if you're sensitive to smells (or work in a fragrance free work place) it may be a bit much.

I bought the gift set for this product and I am very disappointed in this gloss treatment. It smells good but doesn't do anything for my hair. I followed the directions but my hair wasn't glossy or shiny. I did like the leave in conditioning spray that came with it.

I went into this with high hopes—as with anything we invest our money into. In the end, my hair did not look nor feel noticeably glossier or softer or better in any way after incorporating this and only this into my regular hair routine. My hair is fairly healthy but a high porosity 2C curl, and it tends to frizz. On top of that, its lower debsity and fine-medium in shaft diameter. I have developed a decent routine that can maximize volume while minimizing as much as I can, so I alsways like when a product offers gloss and shine while not weighing down the hair or giving it a heavy coat. (I personally love the Paul Mitchell Ginger hair gloss for this.) While this didnt coat my hair or weigh it dowm, it didnt give any additional ahine, gloss, slip or manageability. It didn't feel softer—if anything, its felt a bit drier—it gave me the same feeling as the pattern detangling nectar. Likely, its prevented my deep conditioning mask from penetrating deeper or from my leave ins from entering the hair shaft. Either way, i wouldn't waste my time or dollars on it again. 3 stars only because I have been done dirtier—much much dirtier—and while this didnt work, it also didnt hurt (much).

Bought this product because it was highly starred. Didn't really do anything to my hair.

Was hoping to pump up the shine on my hair with this product, but it only left it feeling heavy and weird-feeling - no shine at all. I love the other products by Living Proof, but this one just didn't perform as expected (or hoped). I gave this several tries over the course of several months, and couldn't wait each time to wash my hair to get this product out. And that's where this product went - OUT in the trash.
