This is, hands down, the nicest flat iron I've ever used or owned. I bought this at the suggestion of my long-time hairdresser who told me I would not be disappointed with it, and he was absolutely right. I used a 20% off coupon when buying this, so that helped quite a bit with the price, but considering the results, I would be just as happy paying full price.
I bought this to replace my wigo, which supposedly went up to 400 degrees. I always had the wigo cranked as high as it would go, and it still left frizz and wave in my hair. I have fine hair, but it has quite a bit of curl, which combined with the thinness, always looked like frizz. I can usually only get smooth hair in the spring and fall, otherwise it's too dry or humid to deal with. I used this over a very humid, rainy weekend when I first purchased it, and it kept my hair smooth and silky all day. And I love that it doesn't take all the bounce out of my hair, since it is thin, usually getting it straight means it's limp. But not with this! I just used my usual heat protectant and mousse and finished the style with this iron, and I literally look like I just walked out of the salon. A coworker even asked me if I got a keratin treatment, which I have never tried, but my usually dull, red hair is nice and shiny now, thanks to this iron.
I love the thin plates, I feel like I can really get all the way to the root of my hair. Also, unlike any iron I've ever used, I can actually use the lowest setting (which you're supposed to on fine hair) and get perfect, long lasting results without frying my hair on the highest heat. PLEASE BEWARE: This iron gets SUPER HOT on the highest setting. It didn't singe my hair or anything, but it was definitely way hotter than I needed on my fine locks. READ THE DIRECTIONS and try it on the lowest setting, working your way up to the highest that your hair needs! I've always needed the highest setting before and didn't think this iron would be any different, but this is a professional grade tool, and it's highest setting is truly meant for people with thick, course hair!
Long story short, this is an amazing product. One thing to mention, though: the other reviews on this site say that it came with a gel mat to absorb heat. Mine did not have the mat included, and the box it comes in is not sealed - it has a magnet type mechanism to keep it shut, which is nice for reuse, but I suppose it's possible someone took the gel mat out of the box due to this type of packaging... I don't really need it, so I don't mind. But if you're getting this in store, you might want to check for this mat so you're not disappointed.
Most Helpful Critical Review Do not buy
Yes, its true this does work well...as long as you don't mind paying a lot of money for something that will not last 6 months to a year. My croc just stopped working after a couple months. You turn it on and it starts making a crackling noise like its going to short out and then it turns off. I was so upset, so I googled it and it appears that the same thing is happening to many people. Its not fair! What if you didn't save that receipt, or that stupid warranty?! Tons of people are getting ripped off, this product should be recalled altogether!!!! I strongly suggest that anyone considering buying this product to google it first and see how many people are so upset about the fact that they loved the product but then after a few months it stopped working or just shuts off!

I see many reviews on many hair tools but in reality a lot of you women, ladies, girls forget to mention how many times you've dyed your hair!! If you're use to getting your hair done that's fine!! Just don't bash companies because your burnt hair keeps falling off! Buy this straightener & wash it every 3 days!🙂
Good while it worked

I loved this flat iron for the 12 months it worked. It's too expensive to replace every year when my trusty Chi has held up for a literal decade.

This was terrible for my hair
Judy J from Phoenix AZ
I've owned Crocs before, I had to replace mine because I dropped it and the plates weren't touching anymore which made it harder to straighten my hair. I purchased this one and I don't know if it was missing some kind of covering on the plates but its like straightening my hair with two pieces of wood, there's so much friction, it doesn't slide through your hair. It leaves my hair frizzy dry and gross. I'm over the return date, so I have this thing I doubt anyone would want for free.
Horrible on thick hair
PrettyEB from Monroe,La
I have thick dry hair (I damaged it and slowly getting getting it healthy) My beloved BabyBliss titanium broke so I figured I'd give this brand a try since it's $50 cheaper. It's horrible for thick hair. I'm used to one or two passes, with this Croc I was having to make 4 or 5 and on half the hair, not be mention it pulled my hair. I returned it the next day. It may be great for someone with thin hair but it was a no go for me.
Perfect for my fine hair

One pass is all it takes for my fine hair on low heat. I love the design of the handle. You hold it differently than other irons but after I was used to it, I prefer it.

I use this for curling and straightening and its great! Love that it tells you what type of hair you can use for each heat level. Heats up instantly and turns off automatically after a while if you accidentally leave it on.

I bought this last week in the beauty event. I've had a Chi I've used FOREVER and needed to be replaced. I figured for the price I would give it a try. I am so happy I did! It works amazing! I have short hair and was a little skeptical if it would style easy because the plates seemed to be a lot bigger than my Chi. However, it did an amazing job. I have had to get used to the temperature settings, but besides that no complaints!
I did see other reviews mentioned the button getting bumped and that worried me, but I have t had this issue at all.
I love it

A literal croc

I love the way the straightener works but I've only used it 3 times, the first time was the only time it would stay on. There is some manufacturing issue with the cord so it will shut off when I pick it up. A waste, save your money.
I wouldn't buy this again. Will be returning asap.

The shut off button is not in a good spot I accidently touch it and it shuts off. Has a clicking noise that won't go away.
My 2nd review on this Croc
Public Speaker from Las Vegas
Already left 1 review about the On / Off / Temp control button. I forgot to mention that BOTH plates are vented for steam?! Between the steam vents and the heat of the outside of the plates, I burned my fingers repeatedly. Maybe I'm weird?! But I grab the end of the iron for placement on my thick, coarse hair. Nope. Returned it. The design of this one is stupid all the way around.
👎🏽 On / Off / Temp Button 🥺
Public Speaker from Las Vegas
Heats up nice. Smooth thru hair. BUT I returned it. "Ergonomic" doesn't matter at all, when EVERY time I picked it up I bumped that On / Off / Temp button & changed the setting ... EVERY time ... and a "bump" is all it takes to change the heat setting or turn it on / off. WAY too expensive for a design flaw like that!
Perfect straightener for those with curly hair
Amanda from Ohio
I am by no means someone who "does hair". My whole life I've just never figured that out. I've always owned chi straighteners, I have curly thick hair, and have dreaded spending 45 minutes to straighten hair for YEARS. I thought that was just going to be the cycle until I died. I was desperate for a straightener that cut frizz, didn't make me run it through 3+ times and still need to go back through again, but wasn't going to fry my hair. This straightener does it. I've sat out in the rain with a hood over my head basically asking for frizz and it didn't happen! I'm really glad I spent the money for this.

I decided to try the Croc because a stylist that I follow on IG swears by it. What I recieved is a piece of garbage. I read other reviews and still purchased it. BIG mistake 1. I couldn't quite figure out if it had been used or not because the lack of packaging and shine on the actual tool. 2. The plates do not touch. 3. It feels so plastic like. Needless to say I returned it. Maybe there's a professional/elite line of flat irons that Croc sends to their Stylists. I will stick to my tried and true Babyliss.

The heat control is perfect, the cord is so long & stays out the way & easy to hold . Great for curling too 💜💜

I don't like to spend a lot of time with getting my hair 'just right' so this flat iron is perfect! Love how light it is and the settings are easy to see. I've bought flat irons before that it's so hard to read the temperature. Straightens in one pass. Love it!
Amazing Flat Iron
Erinre41 from Keithville
I have used so many flat irons from low end to high end but none have been as good as this one. It makes my hair so shiny and healthy looking. Most flat irons just flatten my hair and make me look like I have thin hair when I don't! This one straightens and gets rid of my frizz (I have naturally curly hair) while keeping the volume, it looks like I left the salon with a fresh blow out! It's so light weight and easy to use to curl, wave, or straighten. I highly recommend Croc
Amazing and Reliable

I bought my first Croc in 2016, just before Christmas. I worked at Ulta at the time so I got a discount on it. My hairdresser uses Croc flat irons and recommended it to me. My croc JUST stopped working this week... four years later! Note that I straighten my hair at least 5 days a week, so I used it all the time. I have never had a flat iron last that long. I 110% got my moneys' worth from this iron. I have medium hair that's coarse and frizzy, so I would use the third heat setting. My hair came out perfectly sleek every time! The smaller iron is easy to curl with as well, which is super fun and easy. I can't give this iron enough props. I just purchased my second one!
Excellent for protecting fine thin hair
Missy13 from Bay Area, CA
I've had this flat iron for 8 years now and it still works as if it was brand new! Excellent for straightening and getting rid of the frizz, even hear the roots. I haven't been able to curl my hair with it, but I really suck at hairstyling so there's that. If you want a straightener that will pamper your fine, thin hair then this is it. High quality construction.

Good quality for the price.

I have thick color treated wavy hair and a ton of it. I bought it on sale since my Chi Flat Iron broke. This flat iron is AWESOME... it leaves my hair so silky and straight and I love the handle. I used it on the highest temperature 450 and I did not feel the heat on my hand. I read some of the reviews in regards to the plates and that it turns off. I'm thinking they have faulty ones and they need to exchange it because I don't have any issues.
