    Q
I find it hard to cover the edges of my nails because of the shape of the applicator. The rest of my nail where I actually could apply the chrome looks patchy. What technique should I be using to get full coverage of the entire nail and to make it look smooth instead of patchy?
    Asked by Em

Hello, thanks for asking a question 😊 Make sure you are using a NON wipe gel top coat and you are not over curing the first gel coat, cure only 30 secs so it is still a bit “tacky” this will help the chrome adhere nice and smooth. If the pen applicator does not have enough chrome it will come out patchy as you apply. We recommend dipping the pen back in the lid every 2 nails. To cover the edges use the pen at slight angle, pulling the skin back surround your nail. Also to note, the applicator is flat and tight because it has not been used since it was packaged and sealed in production, it will expand to a dome shape after continuous use.Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
Can this be used on non-cured gel polish? Such as a gel effect polish that doesn't need to cure under the UV light?
    Asked by Jenny

Hello thanks for submitting a question! 😊 These pens can be used on lacquer (non-cured nail polish). Make sure to apply chrome when polish is fully dried and a top coat will be needed after applying the chrome. Please note that any non-cured gel top coat will not last as long and chipping will occur faster. Was this answer helpful to you
    Q
My Chrome Pen ran out of product after only applying on 1 nail. How do I make the chrome powder come out?
    Asked by Ms. Chrome Nails
Official Answer By Red Carpet Manicure - Brand Engage
Hello! Thank you for submitting your question. Our Insta-Chrome Pens have the chrome powder stored in the cap. For best results we recommend dipping your pen back into the cap every 1-2 nails. Was this answer helpful to you

    OK at-home chrome! ✨

Wow, better than expected — fast, easy and not messy! You rub the pen over a cured layer of Red Carpet Manicure "Insta-Chrome Gel Steps 1 & 3 | No Wipe Gel Coat" (in quotes 'cause it's all one name lol), and then follow with another coat of same and cure. If the sponge-tip pen seemed to run out betw...

In order to use this Step 2 pen you have to purchase the clear Step 1 base/top coat as well. You apply a thin layer of the clear gel, LED lamp for 60 seconds, sponge this color dust on, then clear gel & LED lamp for 60 more seconds, & you're done. It's beautiful and chromy..at first but only lasts a...

    crumbly sponge...? (Pink Opal)

I bought this to try chrome powder for the first time and figured having one color in a pen format would be a good and convenient starting point. I wanted to go for a subtle pearly chrome sheen to jelly or cateye nails, however these are a bit too opaque for that. After you open the cap your sponge will be really thickly coated with the chrome (see comparison pic), so you'll have to rub it elsewhere if you want a sheerer coating. So your first pass will be very opaque, and this makes it a challenge to get uniform and/or low opacity on all your nails. I'm not deducting stars for this as it is just preference. If you are looking to make a subtle chrome sheen, I suggest skipping this and go for a traditional powder where you can control how much to use. A more noteworthy problem I came across was that the black sponge tip seemed to be rubbing off on the nail in little bits? (see close-up pic) I think the product I got had been on the shelf for a while since this was out of stock in most Ultas where I am, so it may be an age issue that I was unlucky to encounter. Fortunately the black sponge bits are small enough to be ignorable and you can try to brush them off before applying your top coat. Nonetheless, the chrome effect is still very beautiful. The Pink Opal gives a pearl-like look to a light nail. Application is easy and mess-free since the chrome pigment is more like a putty than a powder. (Note: I read some reviews about the sponge being flat — this is not a defect. When the pen is capped the sponge is squished into the pigment reservoir in the cap. After some rubbing the sponge will return to its pointy-dome shape.)

Nice results but defective pen tip

The results turned out nice, but the tip of the pen seems different as advertised. It's supposed to be more rounded, the pen I received is flat. The product itself works well, though. I used the pink opal chrome over clear-pink builder gel.

Pretty but the pen seems.. defective?

I think the results turned out well for just recently starting to do my own nails. I did a pink opal over clear-pink builder gel. I took two stars away for the pen looking different than advertised. It looks like it's supposed to be a more rounded tip, but the pen I received is flat and made it difficult to get the sides of my nails. Still pretty and fairly early to use, nonetheless! I applied a base, the builder gel, top coat, chrome, and then another top coat.

I'm now up to 8 of the 10 colors in my collection! I use powder dip as my base, and after the activator step is when I use the 1&3 base and top coat, cure for 30sec, rub on the powder, top coat and cure for 90. Perfect results every time!
